Apr-24-2007

Good morning (or whatever). Anyone already read this topic (Dulston Alliance Meeting) on the DA-forum? Depending on when it will take place, it would be good if everyone of us could take part in that chat. I never used aim, and I don't know if I will have the time to go there. Please express your opinions in the discussions segment further down! --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 16:19, 24 April 2007 (BST)

Apr-21-2007

Brothers in arms! Who ist still active? We need all available forces over at the Whitlock Building. I'm there right now with one generator and one fuel can. If my last generator there will be destroyed, I can't guarantee to set up a new one before going to the Mall. So please meet me there with enough supplies to cover the time while the others are searching for new equipment. Please report your available equipment right there at Whitlock. Please check the DA forum for any new informations (not only our group section there). See you out there! --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 22:17, 21 April 2007 (BST)

Apr-13-2007

Even if it's Friday the 13th, we acquired the old factory as our HQ. I asked Mobius if he had any suggestions for the official design. Once that is done, everyone's invited to add trivia and stuff to the page. I set up a link on our main page. --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 09:20, 13 April 2007 (BST)

Update: The new HQ is at the Withlock Building. --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 16:03, 15 April 2007 (BST)

Apr-11-2007

Dearest members, please have a look at the recent discussion topic. Also, do we have some space to load up screenshots for our Blackout List? I think they shouldn't be uploaded directly to the wiki, but it would be good if we could link to them. Any ideas? --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 19:11, 11 April 2007 (BST)

Mar-26-2007

Yo guys! We got a fan. His name is Specialist290 and he wrote a little song for us to perform. Check it out! --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 12:43, 26 March 2007 (BST)

Guitar solo? That should be a guitarliphone solo. But Still, we need to get together at one point and rock out someplace.--Bunnyofdoom 21:47, 28 March 2007 (BST)

You're right. Make that a guitarliphone solo! --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 23:47, 28 March 2007 (BST)

Mar-20-2007

Now it's official, we'll get a face-lift. As soon as Mobius finds the time, there will be some major changes to the design of our beloved pages. Report anything you like/don't like or want changed down in the discussion area. --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 10:58, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Mar-17-2007

Greetings to all ELT-members. I got the feeling that we're quite weak these days, with two of our good guys missing. Not much activity here on the wiki. I hope all enlisted members are still with us? We should achieve at least 10 members to stay in the Dulston Alliance and also to show up on the stats page. Also, I implemented a new status indicator on the Light Map of Dulston page, showing the percentage of illuminated buildings. If anyone knows how to automatize this, go ahead. See you out there, --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 08:30, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Hey, just thought I would check with you guys about updating your group wikipage. As I have not been given confirmation I haven't done anything yet, but as you can see the D.I.T.P.S were happy with their updated look. For you guys I would keep it simple, white background (so your "Many hands make light work" image wouldn't clash) and give you possibly coloured text (other than black) and header banners similar to my other recent group site updates.
The other reason I'm posting this here is because I wanted to mention a suggested change for you Light Map. I would suggest streets as light grey (so you can read their names and show they are still empty blocks), unlit buildings in black, lit buildings in yellow. Then you could border "light needy" buildings in orange, and keep priority buildings bordered in red. As for the link text you might either take my suggestion and drop them in favor of coordinates and icons (red cross icon for hospital buildings, badge icon for police station, ect) or you could shrink the text. This would allow you to reduce the scale of your map so it fits easier into one screen. Just a suggestion, but if you want I could do it for you, and if you didn't like it you're free to just undo my edits via the wikipage History, or edit it as you see fit. Let me know if you need my assistance on my User Talk page. --Mobius187 March 17 2007, 1:25 PM (EST)

I'm still in favour of the changes (also, the new ones sound good to me), but I want to wait for PsychoLychee to decide, as I mentioned before. To all our other members: please express your opinions, you're invited to be part of the whole project! --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 18:33, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Mar-07-2007

Congrats. Check your group's Talk page for all the details. Let me know if you guys need anything and be sure to post on the Alliance forum to show you're active. You may want to actually switch from posting here to posting in your new group section (once it's created). As you guys recently confirmed that you still want membership, I'll assume it's a done deal unless you say otherwise. --Mobius187 March 7 2007, 12:02 PM (EST)

We're glad to hear that we're now part of the Dulston Alliance and proudly accept the membership. I already put the official banner on our main page and registered for the DA-Forum (waiting for our own group section there). To all ELT members: please register at the Dulston Alliance Forum soon to show them we care. PsychoLychee is currently on a trip in another sphere so it might take some time till he rejoins us. Find some more information here. See you out there, --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 13:36, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Mar-01-2007

I moved all the announcements to the archive because they weren't of importance anymore. I'd like to move some of the discussion topics there as well, for the purpose of more clarity (less scrolling around). But I'm not sure, which ones are no longer discussed. I created a new section on the archive page, so feel free to move the topics we no longer need over there. I suggest to take the date of the first post for a topic as the headline and to file them chronologicaly. If this sentence didn't make sense to you, just check out the archive page to see what I mean :-) I also suggest to add new discussion topics at the top on this site here, so the most current stuff is more easy to spot. And, last but not least, I think it would make sense to create an individual point for the "Known GKers". --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 12:28, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

FYI, some of the culprits in your list are known GKers within the Dulston Alliance, and have been placed on the organization's Black List. For those that are not there, well, right now the Alliance groups are sorting out the votes for new member groups and it appears highly likely that you guys will be asked to join (or that's how it looked to me). When that happens you will be free to add the other GKers to the Alliance Black List without requiring approval first (as you will be a member group, rather than someone reporting a crime). In that way you would have a consolidated list to refer to, except that the Alliance does not differentiate based on crime (PKers and GKers are both killed on sight). Only rotters get their own list. Oh, and "He's dead Jim" has been executed several times by the FotFL group, as he likes to hide in Pescodside and that's their territory. --Mobius187 March 2 2007, 9:41 AM (EST)

Feb-05-2007

Four suggestions. 1st one is to move our Tours-Map to an extra page called "Dulston Light Map" or something even more eloquent. Maybe that makes it a bit more popular so that other survivors can help updating it. 2nd one: Since we are so few members, we could post our status here, which will be "lunch-break (killing evuls)", "on tour (enlightening)", or "rehearsing (collecting generators and fuel)". That would make it easier to plan future tours or actions. Just 4 more lines on our discussion page. 3rd one: I think noone will use our GKer List, if we don't provide screenshots, and as WE don't want to kill them, the list would be useless. So I vote for updating other lists. As soon as I find some, I'll post it in our "known GKers" category. 4th: Let's move our Announcements-Section to a page called Talk:ELT-members or anything like similar. Just to make some more space, here. --ρsych°LychεεELT 00:41, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Please vote like: 1st - yes / 2nd - yes / 3rd - yes, waiting for the list / 4th - yes. ... (or "no" or whatever)--ρsych°LychεεELT 00:41, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Yes for all four--Bunnyofdoom 01:24, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
1st, 3rd, 4th - yes if you will arrange all that stuff (which I'm sure you're happy to do). 2nd - don't know if it makes much sense since my status generally changes by the minute till the end of AP and then it's "asleep" for quite some time. --Balcony JediELT 15:33, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
/signed. Same thing Balcony said. If we plan on doing one activity for more than one day, then maybe the "status" section makes more sense. I have an additional proposal, well more like an idea/request: If you enter an unlit building, type "--NEEDS GEN" or "--HAS GEN" when updating The Tours. --Vidicate 15:43, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
This sounds a bit like over at the Mobile Phone Mast page, were there are 5 possible statuses (or whatever the plural form is) for the phone mast. We could use nogen, nofuel, active, unknown. But I don't know if this isn't just too much stuff. --Balcony JediELT 17:58, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Nice idea, "needs gen" and "has gen". I like the on/off thing better, serves our case best. And if we enter an unpowered building and canNOT power it (which won't probably happen very often), let's write "has gen" or "needs gen" (As Vid suggested: in CAPITALS). Keeps things simple. -- ρsych°LychεεELT 06:34, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
I'm not too sure if the HAS/NEEDS GEN actually helps, because the status might change by the minute. So if I see the building next to me has HAS GEN on the map and I go there to find it hasn't anymore and I just ran out of generators but not fuel cans it's kind of a waste of AP, ain't it? --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 18:17, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
We all have to be aware, that this map ist not "realtime". So the status may have changed by the time we arrive there. Therefor it's good to check also the "yellow" buildings, now and then. And if there's a HAS-GEN-comment we can either risk a waste of AP or just go and get a generator first (depending on how old the latest update is). Let's keep the NEEDS GEN HAS GEN thing on this map and keep the downsides of this map in mind. My opinion. (I wrote "needs help" somewhere, which does not mean you need to go there and help (they're all dead already). It was only a lame excuse, for not being able to illuminate the building) -- [ ρsych°Lychεε ]  T 21:41, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
As you all probably know, the GEN status policy is being discontinued. No more "NEEDS/HAS GEN". Thank you. --VidicateTELTDA 21:43, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Feb-02-2007

Noooo! Now the zeds have another reason to destroy our dearest machinery. -- ρsych°LychεεELT 03:22, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Feb-01-2007

(especially the new members) If you die, let us know (not here, however). There's an official Revive Request Tool by the DEM that we normally check when we're near Duport Avenue, Hamerton Road or the cemetery and fit enough to revive someone. Use this, and we'll hopefully get you back soon. Otherwise someone else will ... --ρsych°LychεεELT 10:18, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Jan-28-2007

The north-east corner of Dulston is a friggin war-zone. Frequent zed inbreaks and GKers on the loose. Any help is highly appreciated. --Balcony JediELT 15:29, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm on my way. I kind of miss the sound of breaking zombie skulls, and the feeling of triggers on my fingers ... The petrol price right now seems to be higher than ever, anyway.--PsychoLycheeELT 20:12, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
I'll be heading over there as soon as I can get a generator. It will be a good xp gaining adventure!--Bunnyofdoom 02:28, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Come to Troubridge Cinema, if you'd like to fight a bit. There's plenty of bad guys, right now.--PsychoLycheeELT 10:54, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Died twice in the middle of a revivepoint. But now I'm out, though reviving and killing was an appreciated alternation: There's enlightening work to do, thanks to all those Dulston-GKers.--ρsych°LychεεELT 01:14, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Jan-27-2007 (more)

Currently the ELT supports the use of corpses for the food at McZeds (not supporting the food itself, however) and the sacred ground policy. I'd like to add Uniform Barricade Plan support. Anyone got any objections?--PsychoLycheeELT 12:21, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Jan-27-2007

Glad you're keen spraypainters. However, be sure that the message you put our tag over is not an important one (like "keep at VSB" or "Blabla-Group's Headquarters" for example). By the way: Good work, you rock!--PsychoLycheeELT 12:21, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Discussion (archive)

Apr-20-2007 (Dead again)

To all ELT members: please help secure and re-equip Whitlock Building. I won't be joining you this evening on account of a slight case of death. --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 00:21, 20 April 2007 (BST)

  • Haha. I was alive for barely a day. Now they got me again. I hate being dead. --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 22:14, 20 April 2007 (BST)

Apr-11-2007 (Headquaters?)

I noticed that many groups in the DA, and the d-sub in general have headquaters, but we don't have one yet. I was figuring it might help with our efforts, and our recruitment. I have come up with a couple ideas on what would be a good place. I'm thinking either a warehouse or factory for the Gens and fuel they provide. I had two in mind, the factory at 91,6 and the warehouse at 92,3. I think those would be best because they are right near the Duport Avenue Revive, St Anacletus hospital, Treweeke for other supplies, and many other HQ's. Any thoughts? --Bunnyofdoom 17:13, 11 April 2007 (BST)

We had a little discussion about headquarters in the past (see the section "MalTel" further down) and came to the conclusion that we didn't need one. But facing today's issues (mainly the lack of new members, shame on us) we might rethink that. I would opt for the warehouse at 92,6 (nearby Parrott Towers are another important target). Or do you think we should take the factory, because there are no generators to be found at warehouses? Speak up, fellas! --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 18:52, 11 April 2007 (BST)
Personally, I think the factory is the best bet because of the proximaty to Treweeke, and the generators. (I also fixed your "typo" Boss. ;). We may be a band, but we don't need to be that bawdy.)--Bunnyofdoom 00:50, 12 April 2007 (BST)

Aw, come on. It's all "about sex and drugs and Music With Rocks In. Well...one out of three ain't bad. Actually, it's only thirty-three per cent, but it could be worse" (Terry Pratchett, Soul Music). Okay, so I vote for the factory as well. Would be nice to hear from vidicate, too. Didn't see much of him around the last few weeks. Also, there's a Dexter Thorphan around updating the Light Map. But he has no user page or signature, so he just changes the status of the buildings and doesn't update the timestamp. If anyone runs into him, tell him we appreciate his contributions, but please ask him to use a signature. --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 09:59, 12 April 2007 (BST)

Mar-30-2007 (Phone Mast Status)

I just wanted to check with you guys on the status of the cell phone tower. Or to be more specific, I wanted you guys to report its status to Outside Mobile Connections. They apparently keep a list and currently their last report shows Dulston's tower as an unknown. Now I could check your Light Map and guess based on that, but really it's not my place to say. Just something I came across and wanted to inform you guys about. --Mobius187 March 29 2007, 8:13 PM (EST)

Hm. We're already trying to keep the Mobile Phone Mast page up to date, concerning Dulston. Why does there need to be another page that shows basically the same? Well, fellas, please check on both pages whenever you pass by Parrott Towers. --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 14:22, 30 March 2007 (BST)

Mar-21-2007 (The big Re-design)

I just dropped in and had a look at the new design. Or simply the design, because we didn't really have one in the past. In the quiet words of Ethan: Shiny! A little bit unfamiliar and not quite finished (I guess, cause I think Mobius wanted to change the appearance of the Light Map as well) but so far I think I'm gonna like it. --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 16:08, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Mar-12-2007 (Heads up)

So fer about a week, I'll be in vegas, with slim to no chance of getting online, so yeah, don't be alarmed if you don't see me doing stuff around the D-sub. For those of you wondering D-sub is my incredibly lame and white name for Dulston.--Bunnyofdoom 05:32, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

I figured out the meaning of D-sub by myself! I'm so good. Enjoy your stay, hopefully...just tell us afterwards how you made it through the quarantine zone around Malton :-) --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 12:56, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
I found this tunnel under the gatehouse building. Unfortunatly, it collasped as I was crawling back in. Oh well. Maybe next time eh?--Bunnyofdoom 16:50, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Mar-08-2007 (The Dulston Alliance Forum)

Yo guys, now that we are officially allied with the Dulston Alliance we got our own space at their forum. Now, what can we do with it, what do you think is important? We should recruit more members, but not over at the forum because the members over there are already in groups I figure. Let's discuss something, this is the discussion page! --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 17:47, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Mar-07-2007 (Encumbrance: is shite)

What the heck is this new shit good for? I got 15 empty spaces remaining, but I'm 144% encumbered. All this valuable inventory space is lost. Especially for our group, this is a hard setback for I heard that a generator uses up 20% of inventory space, so good bye heavy lifting. Okay, it is indeed more realistic, but hey, who cares about realism in a world of zombies brought back to life and what else? --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 12:24, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Feb-25-2007 (Mall Tour '07 and Treweeke)

Mall tour 07 have declared Treweeke their next target. I personally feel that the ELT could make a name for themselves by keeping the power running in Treweeke during the siege for as long as possible. It will be a hard task, but I think that we're up for it. Who's with me?--Bunnyofdoom 22:17, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

United we stand, divided we fall! But since there are always lots of people at the mall who refuel generators, maybe it won't be that hard to keep the mall lit. Anyway, we'll do our best to help, but we mustn't neglect the other buildings. (Btw., Pink Floyd rule) --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 10:17, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
UPDATE! As I'm writing this, there is a zed break-in in SW Treweeke, currently 3 zeds inside, lights are off. Is this already the beginning? --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 17:01, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Probably not. I am in SW Treweeke, putting the hurt of some zeds. The barricades are back up, and I'm sure a gen will be up soon.--Bunnyofdoom 17:10, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Along with what Balcony said, I think it would be more worth our time to keep the NT buildings powered. In addition to helping with overall barricading, I'm keeping an eye on The Waish Building [93,11], can one of you take The Whitlock Building? Man, we're already having problems with overcading the Mall entrances, from what I hear. (ps. Did I miss a Pink Floyd reference? Guess I'm not up on my classic rock as much as I thought I were.) --VidicateTELTDA 22:55, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
The Waish building is in Pescodside, isn't it? I'm more like in the north-east corner of Dulston, around [97,3] and keeping an eye on The Trood Building. Or should I come back down to the Mall? (The Pink Floyd reference was about the "United we stand" stuff from the song Hey You on The Wall. But since that motto is commonly used and not invented by PF, you weren't supposed to get it. In addition I got it wrong, because in the song it's "together" and not "united". Anyway, despite my incompetence, Pink Floyd rock (or rocks? Hell, I've seen better days) :-) --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 13:19, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
To answer your question, yes, the Waish Building is in Pescodside, close to the mall. Also as much as I love the idea of keeping the mall powered, I have to agree with keeping the NT buildings powered. I'm not sure if you recall (or were around), but The Big Bash did a clean sweep of the mall and all the NT buildings when they came through Dulston and it was pretty devastating. With the NT buildings overrun line-ups for revives were long, syringes were in short supply (as they were used during the battle), and people had no easy way to get new syringes. If you guys can help defend/power the Whitlock Building, for example, that would be awesome. By keeping an NT building intact with Dulston you would be doing everyone a favor following the inevitable end to the mall siege. --Mobius187 February 27 2007, 8:28 AM (EST)
Wow, we got noticed by Mobius187? KEwl. Also, as soon as I am revived, I'll hit Treweeke only to stock up on gens and fuel, then I'll try to get to Whitlock--Bunnyofdoom 18:24, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
THEY ARE COMING! Alright, if it's not already too late this is a warning to let you know that the Mall Tour was unhappy with how fast the mall fell. They will attack 3 targets before they leave: Pegrum Place PD, the Whitlock Building, and the Waish Building. This is an official post, so consider that they will attack in full-force. Take stock of the number of survivors in those buildings and be prepared to defend it. I have asked the others to abandon Pegrum Place PD, as it is worthless in comparison to the NT buildings at this stage. The battle at Treweeke Mall is over, so ammo isn't needed. What we need are numbers and barricades to protect those buildings. I hope this message reaches you guys in time that you can prepare or flee (if you can't hold the building, it's late, and you'd rather sleep in a safer building). Good luck. --Mobius187 February 28 2007, 8:27 AM (EST)
UPDATE: Alliance sources inform me that the Whitlock Building has been overrun. I don't have any details, but I was told the barricades were down and zombies were inside. Considering the number of zombies in the horde I'm sure that does not bode well for anyone caught inside. --Mobius187 February 28 2007, 5:11 PM (EST)
It's all overrun just about everywhere in the area. I got killed in the Museum there. (Yeesh, I forgot how much it costs to "stand up" as a survivor.) I shambled by Waish, din't enter, but I'm 100% certain it's already toast as well. Hanging out at Batten now. "Mrh?" --VidicateTELTDA 22:46, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Even upperdate: Last time I checked the NE corner of Dullstone was comparatively quiet, the buildings around [97,3] were in human hands and illuminated. Looks like the Tour is moving to Giddings Mall. Got bad memories of the Big Bash destroying the Mall last year... --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 11:53, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Feb-18-2007 (What's Psycho up to?)

After having set up the ELT-wikipages and finally considering them "sufficiently structured", I can go back to work at Tour1 now. Finished this tour only two times in my life. And I want to finish it at least once more before I ... oops. Okay, I cannot hold back any longer. In my previous nights' dreams I have an uncertain feeling of bright clouds ahead, coming to take me on a journey far away from Malton ... it's a presentiment of light, not death (and it's not because of all the fuel I smelled) and I'm pretty sure it will eventually become true. I may then look like a dead body for you guys, or maybe I will just disappear, ... hard to grasp the future is. But do not quail my friends; I foresee I will be back.

No!!! Buh? Wha? Ok fine, leave then. *blows a rasberry* ... No, I didn't mean it. What we gonna do now, guys?! Ack! *dies* --VidicateTELTDA 21:39, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Die not, my benevolent brethren! We will proudly carry on the light of our Messiah till the day he will be back and even more illuminated. Farewell, PsychoLychee, may your road always be lit by burning stacks of zombies! --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 09:48, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Feb-16-2007 (The Defense of Parrott Towers)

Ok, if anyone is reading this and wonder "WTF?", I split this off from the MalTel thread above, as this topic is going in a new direction discussing the possible defense of key building(s) in Dulston from the Shamblin' Crooners. Well, the "possibility" of such a strategy, as it's something the ELT needs to decide. --Mobius187 February 16 2007, 10:47 PM (EST)

  • Do you guys plan to take any action against the Shamblin' Crooners? Not that I'm suggesting it, because I have nothing personally against them, but perhaps non-violent resistance (aka barricading) might dissuade them from entering certain key building in the suburb. Or not. Anywho, that's really a matter for you to decide. --Mobius187 February 13 2007, 2:14 PM (EST)
Hey wait, let's first hear if the others share my opinion, before arranging anything. (It's fine to be a small group... you can be SO democratic) Normally, they're very quick to reply here. The Crooners, as long as they are zombies, certainly have to fear us! With 6 generators and 12 fuel-cans there's still SO much room for pistols and shotguns in the inventory ... -- [ ρsych°Lychεε ]  T 02:13, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Just FYI, the last time I passed thru Parrott I saw a FOXHOUND member there, a level 9 Scientist I believe. Anyway, sure, I share PL's opinion. --VidicateTELTDA 10:01, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Count me in, of course. --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 10:50, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Glad to hear positive votes. As I mentioned before I have nothing personal against the Shamblin' Crooners, but I figured that they appear keen on rockin' every building in Dulston. If you guys can hold Parrott Towers then I think that would mean a lot, at least as far as your group's motives/goals are concerned. I wouldn't expect you guys to try and defend every building... that's something more for the Dulston Alliance. Of course the DvB team consider the antics of the Shamblin' Crooners to be funny, so I don't think the DA will make a serious offensive. I could be wrong, but that's how it looks. On the matter of FOXHOUND, I'm glad they're still around, but I would have hoped for more than just 1 member at the towers. What about at The Gouger Arms (1 south)? That's listed as the HQ for their splinter group the "Foxhound: Hunters". --Mobius187 February 16 2007, 10:54 PM (EST)

Feb-11-2007 (What's Vid up to?)

  • So far I've brought fuel to the phone tower and gen-n-fuel to 2 buildings, and I spread the good word. But I slacked off on getting the necessary supplies as xp/skills have become my priority. Well as I've been scoping out the neighborhood's power situation I finally found an injured survivor to heal and bring me to my next skill, Diagnosis. w00t! Well between that, Free Running, and the Shopping skill I started with, the xp will rake in much faster, as long as I make trips to the Mall's drugstore. The only way I could do this faster is with my next skill, Bargain Hunting, or going the combat route. Question, I have one portable radio I picked up a long time ago. Any recommended stations? --VidicateTELTDA 16:50, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
I threw away my radio a long time ago because there was so much crap being broadcast and it just uses up valuable inventory space. As for the skills, I preferred the healing/reviving way, but it's up to you. Either way, it's cool as long as you still have something to achieve. When I got all the human skills I felt rather disappointed and bored because there was nothing left to fight for. So thank God PsychoLychee came up with the idea of the ELT. --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 19:33, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, as of a few days ago, I have all the skills I was in a "leveling-hurry" to get (check the profile). So now I should be able to devote most of my time to the main cause of our group - finding and using Gens/Fuel. Yay! --VidicateTELTDA 01:06, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
Self-threadjack:
I also have a zombie (zibdib) that I started at the same time as the survivor, he's down in Pitneybank/Peppardville feraling his way into a Fort Creedy assault. Glee! The xp gain is pretty fun once you figure out zeds. --VidicateTELTDA 16:50, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
  • I made changes to the paths of the Tours, while keeping in mind the DODD.
Advantages:
  1. Each tour covers more ground for status checking without sacrificing coverage, meaning less redundancy within each tour. (for example, notice the switching of The Turvill Bldg and Anne General Hospital)
  2. Generator status is now standard coverage for more Priority Buildings.
Added:
  1. Whitlock (Tour 1)
  2. SE Treweeke (Tour 1)
  3. NE Treweeke (Tour 2)
  4. St. Anacl's Hosp (Tour 2)
  5. Parrott Tower now part of both tours, not because it's doubly important, but because if we have a choice on checking if a generator is needed I don't think we care as much about Speak.
Disadvantages:
  1. Not as clean looking.
  2. No way to "generator-cover" The Trood Bldg without lengthening the tour. (This isn't really a disadvantage of my changes, since I left it the way it already was in the NE, just a general disadvantage of the tours.)
Please let me know what you think. I'm rather impressed with myself, since I had to figure out how to find the original templates and mess with the code with no prior experience. :D --VidicateTELTDA 19:04, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
I think it looks good, it just seems to me that the left tour is interrupted? Since I always left the technical stuff to PsychoLychee and didn't manage to complete the right (i.e. "my") tour but once due to bad luck while searching and some urgent zombie slaughtering, I think we'll just have to put it to the test. Btw., you noticed my signature template? I did it just for you :-) --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 20:20, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
I did notice. And it gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. --VidicateTELTDA
Wow. It took me - also a wiki-newb - about one day to figure out how to do this map and how to combine the templates and so on, so I'm also really impressed. Jedi, the left tour continues 2 blocks in the next suburb, which includes the auto repair. Nice changes!-- [ ρsych°Lychεε ]  T 04:17, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, shucks. Thanks fellers! --VidicateTELTDA 10:01, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Now that I finally had time to closely consider your changes, again: good work! When I created the tours, there were no "priority buildings". This didn't come to my mind until the map was finished. I don't like the 2nd tour either. Too much in-and-out and also too long (considering the higher zombie-population in NE-Dulston). I dreamt of 4 seperate tours and one member staying at central Dulston (in and around P-Towers) at all times. Dulston has 1 (let's say 1,5) AutoRepairs AND a mall, so "the ultimate enlightenment" should be possible (well, we're not Grayside here, but at least we HAVE Autorepairs at all). But not until we grow in numbers. Let's hope ... -- [ ρsych°Lychεε ]  T 09:31, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, so I did prove my incompetence once more. I couldn't create or improve such a map in three days, leave alone figure out that the tour continues in the next suburb. Although the old one did this as well, didn't it? Maybe last time that zombie bit me it munched away too much of my precious brain. --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 10:54, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Hey guys, you did realize that this is the point were you should say something like: "don't bother Jedi, you got other qualities" or stuff like that. Okay. Maybe not. Buggerit millennium hand and shrimp. --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 18:16, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
I was supposed to say something, but I can't remember what it was. Drawing a blank here... =D :-P --VidicateTELTDA 21:39, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Feb-09-2007 (MalTel)

A few days ago I had a talk with SkullnBones about MalTel and the Mobile Phone Mast page. In case you didn't follow the conversation, here's a summary:

  • Hey, I'm with MalTel, and I noticed you update the Mobile Phone Mast page regularly. Are you maintaining the masts, or just updating the page if you happen to pass through the suburb? Maybe you would like to apply for a job? I'm trying to get MalTel back on its feet, and looking for people who want to help maintain the network. Thanks, SkullnBones
  • My answer: Hello SkullnBones. As you may have found out, we at the The Electric Light Torchestra try to illuminate all the buildings in the suburb of Dulston. Since we are constantly on the move searching for supplies and maintaining generators we appreciate a working phone mast. So whenever we drop by we try to power the phone mast if we're able to do so (and update our Dulston Light Map and the Mobile Phone Mast page) . But the phone mast is not our main target, so it might go unsupervised for a few days, if we're not around. Maybe we could work under licence for MalTel in Dulston?
  • His reply: Hey man, Great, thanks! We can always use people with initiatives like yours! Please keep up the Dulston tower, that's at least one that'll always be up! ;-) Thanks, SkullnBones

What do you think about that? --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 19:44, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Thank you, jedi. Good work, jedi. Hähä. Seriously, you turn out to be our #1-PR-guy. First the SLRF, now MalTel, what's next? (I also update that map, when I power the towers) -- [ ρsych°Lychεε ]  T 22:11, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
What about that evil laugh, hm? And you as our secretary of state, would you like to work out an official alliance with them? --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 10:37, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Evil? I tried, but there was no answer. My weak attempt is still on their Talk-Page. Maybe YOU should sign it. -- [ ρsych°Lychεε ]  T 21:59, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Well, this is interesting, I was planning on starting a topic like this, but here it is already. Since I know you guys are looking after Parrott Towers to some degree already I wanted to ask you whether I should invite MalTel to assign someone there or if your group wanted the duty. I know the wikipage lists FOXHOUND as the guardians of the building, but some people are beginning to wonder if they are still around in Dulston, and/or whether they have abandoned looking after the phone mast. The Palytoxin Gang is of the opinion that FOXHOUND may not be around as much as they once were. Of course you guys could confirm this for yourselves, as it's supposed to be their HQ and if no one is home, well then, that should speak volumes. Anywho, I don't have the right to say who gets what job (in UD), but I certainly can update the wikipages to reflect your role. That, or we could bring in MalTel for full-time service.

Whatever you decide, I hope it's decided before the Shamblin' Crooners arrive at Parrot Towers. The path of their current tour has taken them across the northern edge of the suburb and they appear to be coming back (heading west, but obviously skipping open areas). In roughly 16+ days (at least, probably more depending on resistance) they will arrive at Parrot Towers and I think it would be interesting if someone was there to keep them out, you know, for kicks. Considering that they obviously plan to tour every building in Dulston I can't help but wonder if they would give up on it... --Mobius187 February 12 2007, 8:32 PM (EST)

Only speaking for myself: Any help from MalTel (or whoever might consider one of Dulston's Buildings his home and therefor keep the genny runnin') would be gladly appreciated. Especially nowadays; there are so many of those disrespectful GKers on the loose. I don't think that would make us change our tours, though. We considered many buildings as our headquarter and finally decided, that - as we are always on the run - we don't need one. I've never seen one Foxhound in my life, so they may be right with their assumption that this group is about to leave. I already added some words to the Parrott Towers page and Dulston. But even if one foxhound powers the mast only once a month, it helps us, so I don't want this to be any kind of rat-race. And thanks ... feels good to be noticed, already. --  [ ρsych°Lychεε ]  T 14:12, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Okay, so I'll contact MalTel and ask them to send someone. Is it alright if I point them to you guys as possible allies of their work in Dulston? As SkullnBones has already made contact with one of their members it might help move things along faster. Whether or not FOXHOUND is still around shouldn't matter, but the goal here would be to make sure that the generator at the phone mast is kept running as often as possible. Let me know if I can refer MalTel to you guys and then I'll take steps to arrange contact with them. --Mobius187 February 13 2007, 2:14 PM (EST)

Feb-08-2007 (Shambling Crooners)

I just noticed that another music group is touring dulston. However, they are our opposites. They destroy generators, kill humans, and are zombies! Do we a plan to stop them? Maybe a battle of the bands of sorts?--Bunnyofdoom 14:59, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

I cannot help, but I really like them. If they do what they advertise, i'd join a concert. I even thought about suggesting to add them to our allies. But no. Keeping our work in mind and that they turn every location into a mosh pit (few chances for poor genny to survive), I cannot do that. Yet, I'd like to tolerate them somehow; they rock. (hey, and they won't harm you as long as you are < level 5)
EDIT: But if they just "run" around and trash buildings without performing, I'm in for a band-battle. I must admit, I don't think we'd have a slightest chance. --  [ ρsych°Lychεε ]  T 21:55, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, if they do preform, a joint concert would be cool. They're the openning act, and their mosh pit destroys the generator, and then we play, and put the gen back up. And a battle of the bands would be us against four of their members. Make it fair.--Bunnyofdoom 22:45, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Feb-06-2007 (Signatures)

  • Cool, I just discovered signature templates. Check it out if you haven't. I notice that none of you currently use these, the current signatures some of you use look cumbersome (copy/paste?), but maybe you know something I don't. As it is now, I just do the usual --~~~~ and I get what you see at the end of this entry. Click Edit, and also click here, to see how mine was done. --VidicateTELTDA 13:44, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
I do the usual signature stuff as well and get this result, since I set it like this in my preferences. So, no additional work and same result, works for me. --Balcony JediELT 15:15, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
Oh, I see. Apparently the advantage of using a template is that your signature will auto-update wherever it appears in the wiki if you change it, but y'all prolly know that. Plus it just looks so much less cloggy when you're in the edit window. :) --VidicateTELTDA 16:16, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
Nah, I didn't know. Maybe I will change it sometime so as not to pain your eyes when you have to look at my signature in edit-mode :-) --Balcony JediELT 16:59, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
Yay. New to me. Looks like I (hey jedi, feel free to mess around and correct my mistakes!) there was no generator when I was searching the wiki for a way to do that. Now my sig looks even more weird. Thanks. Everyone of us can add the ELT-link to their signatures, so that we'll be popular maltonwide in 2008. And maybe we can finally perform live, then. -- [ ρsych°Lychεε ]  T 23:36, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
Man, it was so predictable that Psycho would jump onto the Signature Template wagon as soon as he heard about it ;-> I will abstain! I'm a rebel without a cause. Besides, I don't use templates. EVER. Also: check the first sentence of your last post here Psycho, I won't mess around in your writings (anymore). And does it make you feel uncomfortable when I keep calling you so? --Balcony JediELT 15:30, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Uncomfortable? No, it gives me the warm and fuzzy feeling of being known as what I really am. Stay rebel-ish, Jedi. And mess around, why not? All I asked was not to change my signature. Especially now that I have this uber-sig, hähä ... -- [ ρsych°Lychεε ]  T 20:35, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Feb-02-2007 (The GKer situation)

  • Do we have an official policy regarding GKers? --Vidicate
I'm in favour of creating a list with the exact Gker facts including working links (Example from sad reality: deadcarl (id=439931) destroyed the generator in a factory (97/3) at 16:11 on 1.2.2007) While we do not kill GKers we could provide this service for all who wish to do so. Gotta wait for Psycho1337y, but I think he will support this. --Balcony JediELT 21:37, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Helping others to kill is like killing! ... Well, erm, let's do it. I dunno, if we should just refer to some existing GKer lists. And update them. And if I didn't say so already: I hate screenshots in the wiki! They are as easy to fake as a signature. So, how else can we prevent people from putting innocent characters on that list? -- ρsych°LychεεELT 03:31, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
As I said before: no screenshots. And if we had an own list, only updates by ELT members would stay there. Everything else would just be deleted by us, cause we can see who updated, and when. Or we just contribute our wisdom to already existing GKer pages, I don't mind if we don't have our own list. --Balcony JediELT 11:42, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Oh man, I'm gonna snap and go GKer-killing all over the place if this shit won't stop. I've been sitting at Nott Auto Repair for days, watching the lights around me go on and off while searching for these stupid fuel cans. Just a few minutes ago some notoriuos ***hole walks into the place and destroys my generator. AGAIN! --Balcony JediELT 15:21, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
Man! People who do this repeatedly are either griefers, due to "I'm bored with the game now, so I'll be an ***hole" or their just ***holes anyway, or they're zombie-spies -- in either case, fully deserving of a PK in my book. What say you, ELTs? --VidicateTELTDA 16:22, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, we do have some kind of No-PKing-Policy and I don't want to become something I don't like in others. I think he was a zombie-spy, because I had witnessed him GKing before and met him in another building as a zed (I add all GKers I meet to my contacts in bright orange) and killed the **** out of him. Felt good, but only for a moment. :-( Here's his ID if you happen to meet him: Deadcarl --Balcony JediELT 17:12, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I'm fine with adding those ass***s to our contact lists. I'm fine with killing them as long as they are zombies. I'm fine with a list on this page, updated only by ELT-members, so that we can express our antipathy verbally, once we see them; or kill them once they cross our way mrh-ing or graagh-ing. But please don't kill them alive! I don't want the ELT to fuel this war among humans, for there's a much more urgent one to fight against the undead hordes of Dulston.-- [ ρsych°Lychεε ]  T 23:53, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
  • On Feb 14th, 07, at approx. 3PM PST, vidicate spotted Phathom (see above) in a group of about 40 other survivors in the Pegrum PD. He spoke these words, "Our (unfortunately non-PK) group has logged Phantom [sic] (ID704931) GKing on 4 seperate occasions recently. (see http://tinyurl.com/yob7ch) Have at him, if you please." -That is all. --VidicateTELTDA 23:12, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
And after that ...? The crowd killed him with his own lead pipe? They blew him to pieces with all the ammo that could be found in the PD (which is very very much, I hope)? A grand piano fell on his head? That's the kind of advertisement we need. Hopefully we'll get some new members, now. Or at least some respect for our hopeless quest "4 heroes against the GKer-horde". (by the way, he doesn't even know his own name) --  [ ρsych°Lychεε ]  T 13:44, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
  • The "needs gen" "has gen" thing is probably an invitation for GKers and can therefor be rethought. Do we really need this info, or do we help GKers more with it than ourselves? So long ... -- [ ρsych°Lychεε ]  T 12:44, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Wow, didn't even think of that. Well consider it "rethought" then. And the good thing is we don't even need to fix the Light Map's edit instructions because we never changed them. :) On that note, does anyone think that some of my changes to The Tours are no longer necessary? --VidicateTELTDA 21:36, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, I was no fan of the needs/has gen stuff since the beginning. Think the Tours are allright, we'll see how it works out with only the three of us. Damn, why does nobody else want to join? Not enough propaganda? --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 20:24, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Off-game talk

City of...

Any of you play City of Heroes (Villains)? I'm a long time player now. My wife has an account too. The game is very fun, is casual-player-friendly, and has a very newbie-friendly community. You can get a 14-day trial code for Heroes and Villains at filefront.com. Don't worry, no registration required. If you don't see a code in red letters near the top of this page, disable your web/privacy/blocking program(s). The client download is prolly too big if you're on dial-up, but the game is playable without high-speed. My main heroes are on the Guardian server, and my main villains are on Virtue. If anyone wants to play with me, feel free to contact me at my email, via this wiki. I work graveyard (Pacific Time), long hours, back half of the week, just fyi. --VidicateTELTDA 16:50, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

I read about CoH but after the trial you have to pay, don't you? I currently don't have the money, don't even have a credit card. I have a fast connection, but my Computer itself is so outdated it would be no fun, I think. That's why I have to confine myself to playing low tech online games. Hell, if I only had the money for a decent machine I would play WoW and CoH and what have you...Maybe one day. --Balcony JediELT|Talk! 19:40, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

update: Filefront's exclusive trial has ended. If anyone wants to try the game sometime, I have more trial codes. --VidicateTELTDA 20:16, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
