OOC News and Announcements

As official as any of this gets, try not to post here unless you have something strictly relevent to add.

New Management

Given time contraints and my new position as mod, I will be stepping down as leader of the WCDZ. More details on this and succession later. --Zaruthustra-Mod 21:13, 13 Feb 2006 (GMT)

Rest assured power hungry rabble, I will abdicate soon. I am just finishing up some horribly wicked, sinister plans before somebody else claws their way to the top. --Zaruthustra-Mod 03:22, 18 February 2006 (GMT)

Spring Cleaning

I have just cleaned out the talk and plan on revamping the main page more soon. I deleted all but the most recent or relevent posts, so if you want to further discuss anything I deleted please go back into history and repost it.

Concerning Our Image

Members,

Seeing as how some people like Slavik are (for whatever reason) taking the WCDZ seriously as an anti-zombie/anti-new people/anti-fun wiki group, I'd like to ask everybody to be careful with what you attribute to us. The group was created as a satire of some people's paranoia and drama-mongering, which makes the next thing I'll ask somewhat of a tricky proposition. Try to leave whatever wiki politics and grudges that exist out of this. This doesn't mean you can't use the group as a vehicle to make light of people's silliness anymore. If somebody has made themselves ripe for satire, have at it. Just don't get sucked down into their sad little arguments. The standard bit is make a ridiculously overwrought "official" response from the group. But try to keep it light and above all so silly or humorous that it couldn't be taken seriously. Mock their suggestions, mock their drama, just try to leave them out of it. Jabbing these people just gets them worked up and reinforces whatever delusions they might have. We haven't had any real problems with this, just trying to stay proactive.

RE"...people like Slavic are..." Sorry about that, i cant stand people misspelling my name, makes them seem like even more of an obtuse person Slavik 04:59, 19 February 2006 (GMT)
REon behalf of the group, sorry about that, Slavik. We in the WCDZ believe that names are a valuable, unique commodity, and woudn't dream of knowingly altering the name of someone else. After all, we only have one name, don't we, CivaIs?--McArrowni W! 19:38, 19 February 2006 (GMT)

--Zaruthustra 22:03, 18 Jan 2006 (GMT)
Edit: updated link to Slavik's talk page, since he had deleted the original message. --Omega2 03:30, 6 Feb 2006 (GMT)

The Origin of the WCDZ

For those of you who are slower on the uptake, the WCDZ is a joke. I have always been an opinionated user on the UD wiki, and it lands me on many people's bad sides. A recurring theme is that I am somehow against zombies or that I am heading a clique of older users to quash any new or innovative ideas. After one particularly vitriolic assertion that I was trying to lead some hitleresque purge of zombie ideas I decided to make the WCDZ page as a joke, to throw at people when they make such crazy accusations. From there the group actually kind of took off with some other people taking the joke up, and I decided to see how long I could ride this thing. Below is the conversation that started it all, written here for posterity. --Zaruthustra 01:36, 4 Jan 2006 (GMT)

Your mewling on the front page does nothing to solve this problem, it just raises our collective blood pressure lowers our opinion of you. --Zaruthustra 19:12, 3 Jan 2006 (GMT)

Since when do you think i have ever cared what you or your ilk think of me? You yourself have demonstrated time and time again that you have absolutely no understanding of the game balance, and while killing outrageously overpowered human skills, you and the rest of the clique killed absolutely everything zombie until i myself acted upon the situation and dragged zombie players kicking and screaming to the wiki. Since then there has been parity on the wiki. Biased dinosaurs like yourself have no place passing judgement against me. --Grim s 19:19, 3 Jan 2006 (GMT)
You're wrong if you think there is parity here, zombie skills are way easier to pass then survivor skills nowadays. --Vista 19:49, 3 Jan 2006 (GMT)
Yes, because i went and called the entire RRF, the Pwotters, The Undying Scourge, the Church of the Ressurection, and the Minions of the Apocalypse, and pointed them at the suggestions page almost three weeks ago, meaning that there were a whole bunch of people who played both sides here and thus able to make a better judgement call than poor little "I hate zombies" boy above. --Grim s 19:58, 3 Jan 2006 (GMT)
Everyone should have gotten that your suggestion was satire. I did. But any suggestion that is bad AND not serious is Spam, plain and simple. It doesn't matter that it is a protest. My spam vote means "Please don't protest on the suggestion page." If you don't like a suggestion vote kill. But even bad suggestions don't get deleted here unless they're copies or just trying to waste space. Trust me, I understad what you were trying to do. I have written a "protest" suggestion in the past too. But it's a bad idea to do so and just dilutes the purpose of the suggestion page. Just vote kill and move to the next suggestion. And in Zaruthustra's defense, I've never seen him exhibit any kind of bias in his voting, although for that matter I can't remember him voting keep ever : ) Most suggestions aren't good enough to keep. No need to get in a fuss over those. --Jon Pyre 20:07, 3 Jan 2006 (GMT)
No bias? Do you ever read his comments? "Zombies dont need to be stronger" (Even though we are vastly outdone in the ap war, and we absolutely must horde to break even with disorganised humans). Zurathustra has demonstrated on a couple of occasions complete blindness to the game mechanics, to the point where i have seriously entertained the notion that he is a kill bot, rather than just an idiot. Zurathustra votes kill on absolutely everything pro zombie, and on absolutely everything that nerfs survivors, even a little. He votes kill on everything ludicrously overpowered for survivors as well, just to maintain a facade of being unbiased. A facade easily breached by those curious enough to have a look. --Grim s 20:20, 3 Jan 2006 (GMT)
Note that zombies recently got Feeding Groan which has helped them in regards to AP. Now if one zombie breaks through barricades they can inform every zombie nearby thus reducing AP wasted scratching at buildings. Pretty nice conspiracy theory though. --Jon Pyre 20:55, 3 Jan 2006 (GMT)
And what does that skill have to do with Zurathustra? Last i checked, Zurathustra != Kevan. If he were, trhen we would be seriously screwed. --Grim s 21:13, 3 Jan 2006 (GMT)

This is going to be my only response to this since it shows no signs of turning into anything but noise. For starters I'd just like to comment on how pleased I am that I've gone from being a pawn in the grand conspiracy against zombies to its ring leader. I'm movin up baby! Most of your comments seem to be vague unsubstantiated claims that I kill every zombie suggestion that comes along because I have some sort of vendetta against zeds, and you know, myself. If you look I vote kill on almost everything period, zed and human because I have very high standards of what should get through. In fact one of the few zed skills that did get through was mine. You assert that I vote equally against survivors and zombies to "maintain a facade of being unbiased". Wow, I guess I'm sure doing a good job then. Moving on. You made an (accurate) quote of me saying that zombies don't need to be more powerful, which is true. They dont. If you check they have some of the highest average damage in the game. Thats good enough for me. You omitted what I put after that every time I write it, which is that they need to be more fun and diverse. But don't let that stop you from making me into the embodiment of all evil, if somebody has to inhabit your paranoid fantasies about conspiracies against you in online web games, I'm glad its me. Love, luck, and lollipops, --The shadow lord of the survivor conspiracy, Zaruthustra 21:12, 3 Jan 2006 (GMT)

Wow, that really made Grim look like an ass. --TheTeeHeeMonster 21:30, 3 Jan 2006 (GMT)
Geez, and after all the work I've done shooting down crappy suggestions left and right, Zaruthustra gets elevated to grand lord of evil. Well, that stinks. I've been working too hard on verbally bludgeoning stupid suggestions for two months to just lose out now! :-P Bentley Foss 21:46, 3 Jan 2006 (GMT)

Today the infidel Grim s exposed our existance to the world. Fortunately he is too late, as our evil machinations are already too far along to be stopped. Suggestions killed today, zombies killed tommorow! --Zaruthustra 23:28, 3 Jan 2006 (GMT)

WCDZ: Serious Business

Discussion of our evil plans, and cookies. Try to keep things centered on the group here.

  • could we start a WCDZ/Suggestions page for us ? Cuz, you see, the main page is getting longer and longer, and somehow someday we will end up having more humorous suggestions than the Humorous Suggestions page. --hagnat 00:59, 9 Jan 2006 (GMT)

    • Nah, Jason's suggestions weren't this bad. They were at least (somewhat) in flavor, just horribly unbalancing. And Jason knew not to repost his old crap. --TheTeeHeeMonster 15:27, 6 Feb 2006 (GMT)

Miscellaneous and Comments

Anything else you might want to say.

Hey guys! Remember me? Well... I'm BACK --Jak Rhee 04:26, 4 October 2006 (BST)

I see Zombie Snakes on Planes caught the attention of the academy. It was an idea too far ahead of its time. However, I have to object to the accusation that my name is derivative of Jon Pyre's. My real first name is John, and I came up with a last name to suit my character class (firefighter). I started that character back in September, even before I knew there was an Urban Dead wiki. And as for "toeing the idiot line": I admit many of my suggestions are ambitious. However, I've been playing the game for several months and have experience with both sides of the divide. I want to help the game become more fun for both sides; but right now the #1 challenge for Urban Dead is a shortage of committed zombie players. While the game mechanics are now well-balanced, I feel something needs to happen to entice more people to play as zeds. Thus my suggestions probably tend to skew pro-zombie overall. --John Ember 02:05, 1 March 2006 (GMT)

Don't worry, we'll only give you half the torture. Due to unrelated budget cuts, of course, but I still think we deserve merrit for it. --McArrowni 04:59, 3 March 2006 (GMT)

Hey, not want to pimp out my suggestion or anything but everyone go vote Keep for "Chains and Wirecutters", which is currently in previous days suggestions (and currently en route to being killed). It'd stop zombie spies for destroying barricades without being seen, thus hurting the zombie cause and fufilling the mission of the WCDZ! --Jon Pyre 14:58, 20 Jan 2006 (GMT)

Hi Just an enquiry - As you all seem to be authorative about the game in general, can I ask you opinion? The flavour behind the "Dark Science" suggestion was well recieved but the PK issue seems unavoidable and will always result in a majority kill vote? - I ask because it has been suggested that I try to rework "Dark Science" and if the later is true I would rather avoid wasting everyones time on the Suggestion page. My intention was not to make it a partiuarily effective weapon - guns / fire axes are much better - but to have it as an option for scientists. Comments in general would be appreciated , thanks for the time. --KyleTravis 16:07, 21 Jan 2006 (GMT)

I'd just like to say that the new media section is awesome! That is all. --Jon Pyre 07:06, 23 Jan 2006 (GMT)

I seem to get the feeling that some of the images in Media are adapted from RRF images (the art style is also similar, but I don't care much about that). Did you...? - KingRaptor 10:53, 23 Jan 2006 (GMT)

Could you show me these pics? I haven't seen any RRF images. All my images were photoshops of old war era posters, such as the "raid with petro", which is an adaption of the old rationing poster "ride with hitler". So uh... if theres any similarity its cause we're stealing from the same place most likely. --Zaruthustra 17:44, 23 Jan 2006 (GMT)

I saw the ridleybank page with its pictures. The reason why these exist so closely is because to be honest, this whole thing is old hat. War posters make good photoshop targets due to their bold, well defined color and easily satirized themes. And come on, look at my version, the original hitler poster referenced under mine, and this thing. He didn't even have the stones to clean out the old text and make his own matching one. He just sliced off all the old writing and slapped a font layer over a random area. And that zombie face? Come on, it doesn't even overlap over the ears. Clearly just another instance of zombie inferiority. --Zaruthustra 22:17, 23 Jan 2006 (GMT)

In the next update I (or if I become a mod my predecessor) will add an allies in evil section where we will post such thing. Thank you for your interest in world evil. Despite your groups obvious antipathy towards evil conspiracies we will consider your request. --Zaruthustra 22:24, 23 Jan 2006 (GMT)

Well, I'm pretty sure that there's a bunch'a pissed-off alien types who'd be glad to tell you we're evil bastards who've been attacking peaceful colonists/reporters/humanitarian aid missions/etc. (Except the Cybermen and maybe the Daleks - they're both driven by logic and survival, in that order. No room for good or evil, just strength and weakness - and they both believe themselves to be the supreme race of the universe . . . but I digress.) Added: Also, if we do gain Ally In Evil (At Least, According To The Zombies) status, who should we put down as our WCDZ liason? --John Taggart 22:52, 23 Jan 2006 (GMT)
I dunno about the Big Z's thoughts, but I think that "Unspoken Links With Evil Organizations" or something like that would do just fine. Nothing very big, you know... another main section with a bit "WE'RE NOT IN ANY CONSPIRATION" sounds discrete enough to me. See, we're trying to be at least a bit covert here. --Omega2 22:19, 2 Feb 2006 (GMT)

Events

Discussion of in-game events goes here yo!

First Social (January 7th, 2006)

The social is to be held in Treweeke Mall in Dulston on January 7 at 12:00 AM GMT (Which would be Friday night for anyone living in America. 7PM EST, 6PM CST, etc.) If you should arrive before the date, please spraypaint the information about it in and around the Mall like an obnoxious ass, as is standard for all self-pimping of your group. Sample Message: WCDZ Ice Cream Social here at 12AM GMT January 7th. *Wiki link here*. All member arm yourselves heavily in case of party crashers. It should be an unbalanced fight anyway. Teehee. --TheTeeHeeMonster 01:12, 4 Jan 2006 (GMT)

The Social was a success! At the night's end we had spammed the crap out of the room with our pointless jabber and made a few friends and a lot of enemies. I also drank an entire wine bottle in 1 AP. I told you I could do it Vista! *hic* I also stumbled outside in my drunken stupor and shot what I hope was a zombie. And I got advanced pistol training. *hic* Then I shot Vista in the foot (I said I was *hic* sorry!). All and all a good night. Already planning for the next. We might even invite Grim and Jason, so we won't "miss" them. Get it? *hic* Miss them? I'm funny. *hic* --TheTeeHeeMonster 01:23, 7 Jan 2006 (GMT

Will be there at no time at all when time come, i will just need a srynge so i can have some ice cream with you guys with no problem at all (and hopes of no one acusing me of being a zombie spy...) --hagnat 01:12, 30 Jan 2006 (GMT)

And before i forget, mark the time using 24h instead of AM/PM. I couldnt be at time for the last social because i was thinking it was 12h (12AM, lunchtime) instead of 24h (12PM, night) GMT. --hagnat 01:16, 30 Jan 2006 (GMT)
Im on the NE corner of Caiger... or anywhere closer i guess. If anyone has a srynge and find me lost near Caiger, revive me so i can join the Ice Cream social. The mall tour can wait a little. --hagnat 00:01, 3 Feb 2006 (GMT)

Since my home is brutally ransacked for alcohol by the drunken dead all I have with me is shandy right now, but I'll search for lots of wine and beer to bribe you into supporting me give my fellow WCDZers out of the kindness that is my hart--Vista support my powergrap, Vista for shadow lord 21:28, 1 Feb 2006 (GMT)

Hum... Caiger mall is a little full, isnt it ? Wouldnt it be better if the social was *near* Caiger Mall, instead of *inside* it ? Say, there is this pub, the Blackholler Arms, just 2 squares to the east of Caiger who i think it would be much better for a meeting. --hagnat 13:01, 3 Feb 2006 (GMT)

Seconded! How anyone can sleep (much less eat ice cream) in that suffocating mass that reeks of latrine is beyond me. Besides, holding the social in a human-controlled mall clearly discriminates against all the zombies who wish to participate in the secret vendetta to annihilate zeds. Sure its harder to drink wine as a zombie: but you haven't mocked until you've mocked without using the letters O, C, and K. --Tycho44 17:17, 7 Feb 2006 (GMT)

Agreed, plus Slavik is there now. I mean, its fun punching him in the face, but he'll just bring down the whole function. I vote for Blackholler, and by vote for I mean demand. --Zaruthustra 18:33, 7 Feb 2006 (GMT)

RE You could have let me live instead of killing me Zaru, now how will people be able to enjoy the fun of punching me in the face? Shame on you for not sharing. Slavik 01:30, 18 February 2006 (GMT)

Fellow WCDZ members. As you know, I have been working as a double agent for this group for awhile. As one of my alt is currently assaulting the mall (apologies for any WCDZ brains that gets eaten along the way, I need to keep my cover :P ), I now have new info on the mall tour, as requested. Indeed, it seems their leader is not Xyu... The evidence is convincing: they have chosen to name themselves zmobies.
