Basic Info:

  • Office buildings owned by the company often associated with the zombie outbreak. From the outside, they are indistinguishable from other buildings, but characters with the NecroTech Employment skill are able to recognise them.
  • Among the internal descriptions found in NecroTech Buildings:
The NecroTech logo is set in the wall behind the front desk, and doors open onto powered-down computer rooms and laboratories."
  • If a generator is running inside the building:
"The NecroTech logo glows gently above the front desk, and doors open onto a number of brightly-lit laboratories and computer rooms."
  • NecroTech offices are tall enough for survivors to commit suicide from. They also provide a vantage point from which binoculars can be used.
  • Necrotech Buildings can be barricaded normally.

Description

Necrotech

The Beale Building is a NecroTech facility located in the suburb of Dulston along the very northern edge of the Malton quarantine zone. Though a faceless corporate structure to the uninitiated, this facility works in unison with the Trood Building to collect and carefully analyze zombie social patterns through NecroNet tracking. During the "Malton Incident" scientists had hoped to determine why certain zombies choose to align themselves with specific hordes, but will not stray from these initial groups even after merging with another larger horde. Of particular interest is information being transmitted from field agents observing sieges of such famous locations as Caiger Mall.

Noted NecroTech scientist, Caleb Usher, was said to have been promoted to senior lab technician here for his ground-breaking NecroNet work at the Beale Building. It was here that he organized the advanced zombie tracking system that staff continue to use to this day. Caleb has since vowed to continue to work towards promoting NecroTech's agenda in Malton.

Recently, with the arrival of traveler goat girl in the suburb, the Beale Building temporarily became the HQ of the Allied Travellers Organisation (ATO). For a time, survivors interested in traveling across Malton, but who have not wandered far outside Dulston, learned more about various other suburbs by chatting with an ATO representative. Of course, that time has since passed and the ATO have since moved on.

Since August 2008 the Angry Vaginas have assumed control of the NT and intends to keep it ruined at all times.

Mandate

NecroTech staff continue to follow Directive 42-A, issued by the head office on January 19th 2006, with the activation and manufacture of MK-II revivification syringes. They have been charged with governing the Hamerton Road revivification zone and seeing to the restoration of life to all zombies located therein. Maintaining the zone has proved to be difficult, but as often as the staff and facility are operational, so is the revive zone.

The activation of NecroNet with all NecroTech buildings has also allowed scientists to apply the DNA tracking research they have gathered to date. Standard protocol dictates that all staff be equipped with a standard issue DNA Extractor to tag any zombies they come across during field research.

Affiliates

To date research staff at the Beale Building are working hand-in-hand with survivors located in nearby resource buildings, namely:

  1. Spicer Row PD (96,0)
  2. Clewett Alley PD (95,0)
  3. Anne General Hospital (96,2)
  4. Weston Crescent Fire Station (95,2)

It should also be noted that, due to rotating shifts, NecroTech staff commonly move between the Beale Building and Trood Building (99,1) to the southeast.

Barricade Policy

This building must never be more than Very Strongly (VS+2) barricaded. This barricade level has been set forth in the Dulston Optimal Defense Diagram, a strategic barricade policy that is enforced by all member groups of the Dulston Alliance. This building's purpose is to serve as an access point for all survivors and a safehouse for inexperienced survivors who do not possess the Free Running skill. Visitors are requested to never barricade beyond Very Strongly unless the building is currently under siege from 5 or more zombies. Note that any survivors associated with the Dulston Alliance have the right to lower the barricades back to Very Strongly if they discover them raised higher without just cause.

NecroNet Reports

The following zombie tracking reports are a free service provided by the NecroTech corporation to all its staff and local survivors in order to help facilitate quicker response times when managing zombie threats and to build a greater awareness of zombie migration patterns within the 9x9 block region around the Beale Building. As a cautious reminder, only those zombies tagged with the DNA Extractor will appear on these scans, so actual numbers may vary when dealing with older zombies (i.e. Brain Rot):

Please keep in mind that the Beale Building is the blue-coloured square in the very center of each 9x9 grid. Of note, Troubridge Cinema is the light grey-coloured block in the top right corner of the grid, and is considered by many to be a common location for zombies to hide. Historically the cinema was associated with the now scattered zombie mob known as the Bela Lugosi Fan Klub, who would at times be found watching horror movies in the empty theater rooms.

Current Events

October 19th, 2009 - The building was reported with power by External Military radio. -- Kittithaj 20:56, 19 October 2009 (BST)

September 25th, 2009 - Death and decay accompany the smell of rotting flesh inside the Beale building. Shambling zombies prowl the corridors watching for the hapless NecroTechnician to slip up, to make that one fatal mistake, and become a delectable snack for the brain-starved quartet of zombies within. One will surely come... soon. BLusk 22:41, 25 September 2009 (BST)

December 23rd, 2008 - Zombies have retaken the lonesome and abandoned building.

December 22nd, 2008 - A roaming member of the Burchell Arms Regulars cleared out and re-barricaded the building.

December 18th, 2008 - Orophin Minyatur of D.I.T.P.S reported that the facility was repaired and re-barricaded. The building is currently Very Strongly barricaded.

December 5th, 2008 - D.I.T.P.S recon reported that there was only 1 zombie inside the ruined Beale Building.

November 27th, 2008 - Major Azzhole of Metal Fox reported, "There was another break-in. I think I locked one out when it dragged someone into the street. Still, I had a Mrh cow waltz right in and clog up my barricade efforts. *grumble* I'm down to 1 AP. The one survivor was the only casualty, unless he's still alive out there lying in the street." Major Azzhole made sure the building was Very Strongly barricaded.

Update: Major Azzhole reported that he was killed during the night and the Beale Building had fallen. There were now 5 zombies inside the ruined building.

November 26th, 2008 - Beale still holds, but a breach in the barricade allowed 2 zombies to get inside the building. Soon after the zombies seemed to lose the will to fight and just starred at paniced survivors from across the room. This gave survivors a chance to re-barricade. Soon after the zombies were killed and dumped.

Update: Metal Fox recon reported there were 4 zombies outside of the Beale Building, hammering away at its barricades.
Update: Yonnua Koponen of W.I.Z.A.R.D. reported that there are 4 zombies inside of the hospital. He did what he could to fight them off before retreating with only 1 HP left. Now that's what I call a near death experience...
Update: Major Azzhole of Metal Fox reported that there were still 4 zombies inside, but they had all grown quiet and lathargic. The building was Very Heavily barricaded in the meantime.
Update: There are now only 3 zombies inside the lobby. Later one of the zombies was gunned down and another was C.R.A.P.ped on, before they were both dumped outside. This leaves only one zombie still inside the building.

November 25th, 2008 - The dawn rises on Dulston to find the Beale Building still standing with its lights SHINING like a BEACON OF HOPE in the devastated lands.

November 24th, 2008 - After what seemed like ages, but was actually 2 weeks, the Beale facility has been recaptured. Operatives from the Dulston Alliance reported that the building was barricaded and powered.

November 12th, 2008 - The Militant Order of Barhah overran the Beale Building's defences and ransacked the facility. This was hardly a surprise and no one really liked the Beale Building, not even the people who worked there. Not that they wanted to be devoured by zombies either, but there just wasn't that sense of loss you get when you lose something precious... precious like the "Fortress of Scienece". Sigh. We ♥ Whitlock.

October 23rd, 2008 - Imperium recon reported that the Beale Building was holding strong in survivor hands.

October 12th, 2008 - Bounty Hunters Unltd. recon reported that there was a survivor and a corpse inside. The building however was still ruined and its doors closed.

August 31st, 2008 - FOXHOUND recon reported that the Beale facility was ruined and that there were 2 zombies still inside.

August 26th, 2008 - The Beale Building now suffers the same fate as Trood and all of the Northeast area. --Kittithaj 15:10, 26 August 2008 (BST)

August 15th, 2008 - Very strongly barricaded and powered. One zombie outside, and a big group at Trood. -- Kittithaj 14:29, 15 August 2008 (BST)

January 27th, 2008 - The group http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Saber_Scorpion%27s_Lair_Fourms has captured here and Spicer Row PD. --Richard helmsling

January 10th, 2008 - The changing winds of fate have apparently delivered the Beale Building back into the hands of survivors. --Mobius187 19:15, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

January 9th, 2008 - The Beale is still in the undead hands of the Swarm. It has been 6+ weeks since a human has claimed this building. --Vachon Blaze 10:35, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

December 10th, 2007 - The Beale is still in the undead hands of the Swarm. It has been 2+ weeks since a human has claimed this building with no major counter attacks.--Captain Grisum 19:53, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

December 6th, 2007 - It has been confirmed that the ATO no longer call the Beale Building their home, and a quick recon showed that neither did Infected Swarm as it seems both groups have since vacated the building. This has placed the mice in the unlikely situation where they have been left to their own devious devices... God forbid we let this continue for too long!

December 2nd, 2007 - On this glorious day, the Beale Building has been officially held for over a week by the Infected Swarm. It is hoped that it will serve as a bastion of rotting and decay to all in the future. Vachon Blaze declared, "Die now Dulston".

Update: Noted NecroTech scientist, Caleb Usher, had this to say, "I do believe this is a challenge if I've ever heard... oh wait, I know I've said this before. But no, this time I'm sure Infected Swarm intends to make a point of not being evicted from this building ever. It must be a challenge! Let us see whether the Dulston Alliance can draw in the manpower necessary to reclaim this building."

November 13th, 2007 - On this glorious day, the Beale Building has been officially declared the headquarters of the ATO. It is hoped that it will serve as a bastion of health and travelling in future. Dance on Dulston!

November 11th, 2007 - With several other resource buildings in the area now reclaimed the Flustered Brethren, one of the Dulston Alliance's newest member groups, charged into the NT building and reclaimed it for the survivor cause. All zombie inside were slaughtered and their corpses dumped into the streets. Efforts are currently underway to restore power the the building, and thus resecure the survivor position in northeast Dulston.

November 5th, 2007 - Zombies overwhelmed the building's barricades and survivors were forced to fight or flee. It is said that those survivors who remained put up a valiant fight, but were eventually overrun. The building was eventually ransacked with 7 zombies remaining in the lobby to hold the building.

June 21st, 2007 - Zombie troubles continue to plague the northeast corner of Dulston as the largest number of zombies in over a year now wander this corner of the suburb. Survivor and accredited Zombiologist, Ottari, risked his life to confirm the local status of the area by issuing a NecroNet report. What it shows, even with its limited view, is that at this time there are 41 zombies in the area and 5 zombies outside this very building. Staff are reminded that while smoking is forbidden inside the building, smoking outside is even more dangerous to your health.

February 9th, 2007 - The Shamblin' Crooners returned to the Beale Building, making it the seventh stop in their new SHAMBLIN' CROONERS APOCALYPSE tour. Dulston survivors heard a lot more angst in the zombie tunes as they sang heavier music including Metal, Grunge, and of course Death Metal.

November 14th, 2006 - The Beale Building has had some very violent activity over the last half year, along with the Trood building. Many feral zombies have claimed the northeast corner of Malton for there own, often breaking into these buildings, attacking NecroTech staff, and destroying their equipment. Due to the consistant nature of the assaults the staff have become experienced at reclaiming and restoring the building back to operational status within a short period, but even so there is still very little security in this locale.

September 12th, 2006 - The Ridleybank Resistance Front zombies broke into the building and proceeded to assault several scientists. Unaccustomed to having their viral "test subjects" behave in such an undignified manner several NecroTech staff members fought back, with varied results. A bulletin to all new staff members has been posted as a reminder that not all zombies are appreciative of the revivification services provided by NecroTech and caution is advised when approaching any animated corpses, especially those associated with the RRF.

June 13th, 2006 - After half a month of relative peace and quiet, the silence of beeping lab computers was broken by the return of the Shamblin' Crooners. With thei usual flare they broke inside the building and began their concert. Work schedules throughout the building were disrupted as scientists fled, fought, or listened to the zombie rockers. No matter how you look at it, the Crooners put some unlife into an average work day at NecroTech.

May 20th, 2006 - More Z!ng, Z!ng from the Shamblin' Crooners. Will the scientists of the Beale Building ever be able to get enough? Probably, but the Shamblin' Crooners keep on dishing out the tunes.

May 16th, 2006 - After their initial warm welcome and success here a few days ago one of the Shamblin' Crooners made a return performance to satisfy a special "fan" who seemed to still hunger for more Z!ng, Z!ng. Reports were unclear as to whether the fan survived the encore performance.

May 4th, 2006 - The Shamblin' Crooners made their usual grand entrance and entertained everyone inside with their famous "break-in & concert" style of zombie rock. Some humans were eaten. Some zombies were shot. Bottom line, everyone had fun. Rock on Crooners, rock on...

February 24th, 2006 - The misguided members of the Malton DEA, former government agents of questionable standing, stormed the Beale Building and accussed all the survivors inside of running something they referred to as a "revive den". In the ensuing chaos some of the DEA agents opened fire on the survivors who had drawn weapons in their defense. Slain in the raid were survivors by the name of morior, Kurt Olsson, and Stephen User. A fourth survivor, Mozart, managed to escape the initial raid, but was later killed in a shootout at another location. The DEA agents who participated in the raid were Special Agent Chow, Special Agent Schultz, Special Agent Zippo, and Agent Backdraft. Agent Dale Cooper was noted as the one who killed Mozart.

February 17th, 2006 - With assistance from Caleb Usher the Beale Building activated its satellite relay with the orbitting NecroTech satellite and has begun issuing NecroNet reports to local precincts. In time staff at the Beale Building hope to use the data they gather to further their existing research into zombie movement patterns.
