Basic Info:

  • A monument is a city block containing a statue or similar piece of public art, without a building in it. It is functionally equivalent to a street, except that players with the Tagging skill can gain 2 XP for writing graffiti on a monument.
  • This is, game-play wise, an empty block, and cannot be barricaded.
  • After the July 3, 2009 update, some monuments became tall and can be seen from a distance with binoculars

History

The Wicklen Monument has been an unofficial revive point since late 2005, early 2006. Members of various survivor factions have attempted to uphold the revive point -- along with various unallied parties -- up to present. Hiccups in the revive point's usefulness have usually occurred early in large-scale horde movements through the area, as fallen survivors often flock to this point quickly, and braindead zombies tend to seek it early to clog up the queues.

The Wicklen Monument has, along with the rest of the East Grayside/Hollomstown district, found itself a target of on again, off again PK activity. Since somewhere in 2007, it is currently functioning under the supervision of Nightwatch and other groups. The queue is presently between 5 and 10 zombies long.

However, as of March, 2008, Nightwatch has disbanded, and so the Wicklen Monument is not only a Revive Point, but also a monument to those fallen for East Grayside and the rest of Malton.

Pre-Outbreak History

The Wicklen Monument was often jokingly referred to by locals as The Sea Monument in reference to Bythesea Auto Repair situated adjacent to the monument.
