I need your help

I feel I have been wronged by a certain faction of wiki moderators. Please visit this page and voice your opinion. Because of my group affiliation, I know I am linked to controversial user Amazing, however, my history on the wiki and in-game has been positive and constructive. I would appreciate your opinion and/or support on this matter. Thank you. --Zod Rhombus 15:22, 20 June 2006 (BST)

I don't believe you were wronged. It would seem that the person who removed the links from the front page acted in good faith, and under the impression that there was a consensus in the community (I'm not going to investigate whether he was correct or not, as it is pointless). If you feel that the links should be on the front page, you can suggest that in the mainpage talk section. If there's enough people who want them up there, there should be no problem. Otherwise, there's no reason to let this escalate. --Daranz|talk|mod| 00:21, 21 June 2006 (BST)

Taking a quick look at undeletion pages for other pages, it seems like you actually have to access the undeletetion confirm page before undeleting. So, it's not possible to simply send a GET request to restore everything right away. Chances are that wouldn't work anyway, as it'd rape the wiki/database similairly. --Daranz . talk . mod . 03:38, 24 September 2006 (BST)

Kleptocracy

Due to recent vandalism on Kleptocracy, is there any way to lock the page from other groups? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bangadesh (talkcontribs) 1 October 2006.

There is no way to lock your group page so that only you can edit it. If any vandalism happens in the future, you can report it to M/VB. --Daranz . talk . mod . 21:32, 1 October 2006 (BST)

Hi, sorry to trouble you again, but I have another issue. Bangadesh edited my page a little, and I was curious as to if he is allowed to.(He edited the kleptocracy description I had) If he can call me a "cocknocker" on his page, can I say what I want on my page?

Sorry for troubling you on your user page, but when I tried to access the M/VB link it froze my computer.(I have no clue why, lol.) -azn4life --Azn4life 03:12, 9 October 2006 (BST)

You should try again then. Also make sure to include all the relevant info, so people don't have to go looking for the pages in question. If you don't manage to post anything to it, tell me, and provide me with links to all the pages. --Daranztalk . mod . 20:41, 9 October 2006 (BST)

I dont understand. When I tryed to click on the link on your previous talk it froze up Internet Explorer and I had to shut it down. Sorry about that.

You're a gorram legend

Well your new idea for the revive point is fantastic, it's awesome, it's fucking awesome. I was having a mental block as about what to do and you came and saved the day. I'm gonna start knocking up the list now and see what it looks like when it is complete, the only thing I think is needed is each line in the table to have an outline as the colours force people to change the rest of the list. Pillsy FT 16:37, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Hrm. You're right. No easy way to fix that. If you number every entry, you have to renumber them all again when you enter a new one. No really easy way to do it, without introducing a bunch of new templates and restructuring them, and even then, it'd be somewhat difficult. I can't really think of a way to handle it. --Daranz. talk . mod . 16:45, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
Well looks like people may have to suffer with the colours for the time being then. Anyway, I'm trying to create the list at List of Revivification Points at the moment so you can stop by and see what you think. I've took your examples and created Template:RevivePointHeader for the header of the table and also Template:RevivePointFooter for the footer. I have also changed Template:RevivePointUpdate to be for each revive point. Pillsy FT 16:53, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Warning

correct me if i'm wrong, but i beleive that the user RevivalOfTheFittest only created a new image for the black knights since they did not have one. so wouldn't that fall under the provision of what is not vandalism ( UDWiki:Vandalism check this page) I quote "This, while quite broad and useful, does lead to interpretation. We make the following notes on what isn't vandalism:

   * An unwanted edit to any page.
   * An edit that adds information arising from a misunderstanding.
   * An edit that improves the page from a user you don't like. "

an edit that improves the page from a user you don't like. now i know this is a little sketchy because RevivalOfTheFittest just created a new image he never edited their page at all in fact as i recall it was keith 921 who put up the image link RevivalOfTheFittest is not the one who deleted the picture if you look at this it was vidad12 who removed it evidence and then it was deleted because it was unused for a period of two weeks see topic hereUDWiki:Moderation/Deletions at the bottom of the page you will find that unused images were voted to be deleted after two weeks. you can start with the vidad12 evidence where he changed the picture and move through the diff button to find that the image was never linked to the page again before the two weeks period was up. so then i ask why would you issue a warning for RevivalOfTheFittest?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Yourmom (talkcontribs) 02:29, 17 January 2007 (UTC).

Don't lie, it wasn't vidad12 that removed that image, it was your vandal alt, vldad12 (notice the l instead of an i) that did that. And no one noticed because you were imping vidad12. That's why there was no image there, your alt took it off the page, and it was deleted as unused. Regardless, RevivalOfTheFittest has no right to upload an image to put on a rival group page, if they want to leave it as a dead link, it's nothing to do with him (or you) -- boxy T L ZS PA DA 10:04, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Given RevivalOfTheFittest's previous history with the group, I find it hard to believe that his uploading of the picture was in good faith. Using the same filename as that of a previously existing image used by the group is very likely to create confusion, and considering that the new image pretty much mocks the group (while previously it was an actual group image), I think it's pretty clear what we're dealing with here. Even then, regardless of intentions, RevivalOfTheFittest shouldn't have uploaded the image under the same filename, as that's likely to create problems. Hence, the warning. --Daranz.t.mod.W(M)^∞. 10:28, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
ok i can see where your coming from Daranz. but i have to say that i think your getting a little emotional about this whole issue boxy. first of all i have no reason to have another accout that you keep claiming i have. second of all this is a library computer and it just so happens that the person your talking about doesn't play the game anymore. you know the person who IMP vidad12. if you are so confident that i have and alt account why don't you try blocking all of my IP addresses cause i'm sure there's alot of them considering it's a library and getting the same computer is really hard.(first come first serve) last of all i have no reason to tarnish the reputation of another group i prefer to spend my time coordinating the in game part not the out of game part (cause yeah you don't get people to quit the game unless you harass them in the game until they give up. that's my job) however it was not my job to harass them outside of the game.--Yourmom 18:13, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
If you were banned then ip of you and vldad12 were the same, that's enough reason to believe you may have alts. We would block your ip but firstly, you're on a variable one, secondly, we're not allowed to block you ip unless you break the rules, thirdly, if it is a library (which I sort of doubt) then we'd be blocking a lot of other people out as well. And, just to note, the computers will all use the same ip, as they'll be using the same internet connection.--The General T Sys U! P! F! 21:28, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
did you ever consider that this school has more than one internet connection which is why we have more that one IP. the school runs about 6 T3's for internet possibly more. i think that you need to think outside the box. also i revoke my comment of the warning i agree with you now that RevivalOfTheFittest was trying to tarnish the name of a "rival group" seeing as how he just put the image up on their page. but anyways back to my alts that i don't have why don't you try seeing how many account have these same IP's using the check user thing. because i'm willing to bet there's one for each of my friends playing the game. so that should be about 8 or 9 depending if the dorms are on seperate internet lines.--Yourmom 05:49, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
wait the black knights actually like the new picture what's that mean to you?--Yourmom 05:53, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Yeah, I was confused. Sorry about that. You learn from your mistakes I suppose... Cheers --Kiddy 21:51, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

X:00 re-directs

Can you make these redirects to X:00. I really see no point in having 24 pages of the same thing, if they all can simply link to the main X:00 page. --Daranz.t.mod.W(M)^∞. 03:34, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

The 24 X:00 related group pages weren;t gonna have the same thing- each would have included time specific instructions. But the differences were very minor, and I figured out how to do a redirect. The results still seem a bit spammy, but it would suck if somebody saw "22:00" in a zombies profile, and couldn't link to the group to find out what it meant. In-game communication (including via profiles) is the whole point of X:00, after all.
Hmm, maybe I should go through and remove the 1,2... from being catgorized groups. That way the links would still work, but they wouldn't spam up the group pages...--Swiers 06:24, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
That's what I meant by the same thing: if 1:00 contained the same content as X:00, except with every instance of "X" replaced with "1", you'd have a lot of redundancy. Redirects still make the page easy to find, and I think the idea is easy enough that it can be described in general terms. That is, unless you want the individual hour pages to be significantly different. But even then, you can just list all the hours in the main article. --Daranz.t.mod.W(M)^∞. 15:43, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
I think I'm getting you. Anyhow, the way I did it doesn't look like it spams the group pages, but achieves most of my goals. Focusing on the X:00 page itself will serve the idea best anyhow, and certainly save my energy. One of my main concerns what that people might be able to "poach" the 1:00, 2:00 and so on group pages, in order to create misinformation if the idea ever did take off. I think I've blocked that now. If a particular one of the numbers takes off an needs a life of its own, the pages are available for use now, but (as much as any group page) protected from abuse, right? --Swiers X:00 16:17, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi Daranz, would you mind placing some category tags on some archived pages for Vantar's Suggestions Categories project? Revive Point List

Doing it all by hand right now. It would not be a trivial thing to get a bot to handle all that reliably enough to feel OK letting it loose. It isn't really to hard though - I just paste in the standard blurb than cut & paste the RP info right from the list. Actually takes longer to edit the listings, particularly if I'm removing some for timing off. Hopefully we'll get a couple other people helping out to maintain it, and after another round or two we'll have everyone actually actively maintaining a site trained to update it regularly like Conndraka trained us to update the recruitment page. ;) After that there will hopefully only be a couple sites a week to deal with. --Gilant talk-DEM 03:23, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

It's simple, really. First wrap random parts of text in divs, and then add random style elements to them. Try to use bright colors that don't contrast. Move stuff to illogical places (like TOC at the bottom). It's like modern art, really --Daranz.t.mod janitor.W(M)^∞. 00:24, 9 May 2007 (BST)

Lexicon?

Hello I'm just going around checking the Lexicons current status and am wondering if you are still interested in working on it. If you do not want to work on the Lexicon anymore could you please either move down to Alternates or dropped out players. - Vantar 20:39, 3 June 2007 (BST)

I'd be willing to help out, provided that the Lexicon is actually going to be revived. I don't want to be contributing to a dead project, but if I'm not going to be the only one doing anything, like the last time, then sure, I'll be interested in working on it. --Daranz.t.mod janitor.W(M)^∞. 01:48, 4 June 2007 (BST)
Currently there are 3 members of the Lexicon that have expressed interest in staying on and 1 or 2 new users expressing interest in joining. In order to keep this project alive I have proposed some rule changes. If you have any ideas to to improve the Lexicon lets hear them - Vantar 04:34, 10 June 2007 (BST)

Hey I recently returned to UD after a long absence and I'm really interested in reviving the Lexicon, and finishing it off, not just leaving it there half done.
