LCD

Hi Dux,

I am sorry to tell you that LCD is disbanding, it was hell of a time we had at SSZ. It would be really great if you guys could vote for us on the historical voting page.

Warmest regards,

Has Harrison been sucking up to you psyops the entire time I've been gone?--Lachryma 06:35, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Nah, this is just the second message he's left. But I mean, come on - it is cool, no? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:37, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
I guess he really wanted for you to get the message. And I heard your sig breaks the wiki with its outlawed code.--Lachryma 06:44, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
It's a grey area - the links still work, and it causes no harm. I don't see any reason to change it until a wiki-threatening crisis occurs. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:45, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Oh yeah, when it's too late. Also, these words and the edit buttons are in your contents thingy. Do I need to buy a wider laptop?--Lachryma 06:48, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Ah, I see. Just collapse the contents. That works. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:50, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
That's a cop out, but oh well. So what's with all the drama on the wiki these days? I thought it ended!--Lachryma 06:52, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Oh, I do my best to not get involved. It seems that Nalikill and Grim have been at the center of it recently. Plus, Grim also seems to be taking swipes at anyone who ever disagrees with him. Fondly reminds me of Gage. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:55, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
True, true. Gage seemed...more bitter though, and more prone to attacking people via their talk pages and not through official channels. The method changes, but...anyway, I happened to come back to UD when survivor numbers are up and the RRF is on excursion. Nooo!--Lachryma 07:05, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
I think all the RRF needs is a little bit of a poke to get going again. Stir up the hornets' nest, eh? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 07:06, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
We tried that. I'm currently hanging around Moggridge PD, putting an eye patch on Petro's statue while hearing pirate stories from other members of Ghetto Cow. I talked to their new papa, and he gave me his blessing to take their birthplace. Strange, no?--Lachryma 07:16, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Quite odd indeed. Hey, you should go vote on this policy me and SA did. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 07:19, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Sig Race

So just because I was absent for about a month, it means you could take back that #3 spot, eh? --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 20:59, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Eh, what? People are still talking about the race? I've lost interest, and I'm more focused on streamlining and improving the current policies and doing more sysop-stuff. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 00:53, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Technically my only interest isn't exactly the sig race. It's more of passing Matt... --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 00:55, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Good luck then! Get to spamming those welcomenewbie templates then! I've found that they don't do that much good anyways. Another reason why I want to revise them, so they are useful. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 00:57, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Yall can have 3rd place. I have 1st in mind. Very nice sig by the way (I seem to see it every friggin' where). Oh well, good luck! I encourage you to take all the breaks you need!-chow.--Airborne88Zzz1.JPGT|ZC|MI|E! 08:19, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to be a kill joy but...

So you know, with your current signature it could force content outside of the normal page area (Specifically the "Ducis" and "Sysop" part) which is against this policy. This only happens on rare occasions, but I just thought I'ld give you the heads up so you were aware. You can see the effect that I described by using alot of text to force your signature just to the edge of the page until part of it wraps around (or just by resizing your browser window). - If Jedaz = 13:18, 9 January 2008 (BST) then pi = 2 + 1

Hmmm, it's more of a browser compatibility and rendering problem, than a violation of a policy. You can still access my userpage even when the problem you describe happens I think. Have a look at the same page in IE and FF. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 03:10, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm not worried about whether or not people can access your user page, and it's not a browser compatibility or rendering problem. It's doing exactly what it's told, you are displacing text off to the left by a set amount of pixles, this occurs both in IE and FF exactly the same. So when the section which is being offset to the left begins on a new line it has the potential, and I've seen it happen already, to be forced off the normal content area. That is in volation of the policy, intentional or not (I'm assuming not). I'll post a screen-shot of it later if you want me to so that it's clear as to what I'm talking about. - If Jedaz = 03:31, 10 January 2008 (BST) then pi = 2 + 1
I'd love to see some screenshots (I know you're not lying, I'm just curious to see what it looks like). --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 03:47, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Here you go. This is a screen shot from both IE and FF. As you can see in both of the images they are bordering onto the side bar.

DuxSigPic-IE-FF.PNG

I just used the "Z"s as a example case rather then trying to find where it actually errored up before. - If Jedaz = 04:07, 10 January 2008 (BST) then pi = 2 + 1
Huh, wierd. Ok. Well, I'm still kinda reluctant to change my sig. Is there a way to achieve the same desired effect with different code? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 04:28, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Unfortunatly, not that I know of. I had my signature like yours a while ago, but I changed it because of this issue. It's not really a major issue as it only occurs occasionaly and it doesn't block any of the links, but still I thought you should know about it. - Jedaz [04:36, 10 January 2008 (BST)]

Headers

Actually, I prefer plain text headers... often the ones with code in them don't work when you click on them in recent changes (I just get taken to the top of the page rather than the section in question) -- boxy talki 11:35 6 January 2008 (BST)

I thought it might have just been the way I've got my preferences set, or my browser, or something. But if it happens to everyone... why do we insist on putting coding in the headers? It's a bit of a mystery really, sometimes it works like normal when there's a link in the header (I've noticed it work on the deletions page), but mostly it doesn't... never been able to sort out a pattern to it though -- boxy talki 12:25 6 January 2008 (BST)
Yeah, it's a limitation in the wiki software, this provides more information on it but the problem is with Pipe functions, Deletions works because there is no pipe function in the links, most of the time, Karek will cause summary problems, however User:Karek shouldn't.--Karekmaps?! 00:03, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Ah, cheers for the link. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 00:33, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Your signature

Your old sig was awesome (the "log by") one. The new one is...less awesome, but still better than mine. --PdeqTalk* 20:05, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Ah, I know - but I wanted a sig that fit in with my current page theme. I thought a simple one with background colours would be best, if a little plain and over-done. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:32, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
It definitely fits your theme. Any objections to me taking your old one so time in the (distant) future, or might you be using it again? You are the best person to steal...err, borrow...code from. --PdeqTalk* 23:34, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
As long as you change it enough so it's unrecognisable. I originally got the foundation of the code from Jedaz' sig. They look pretty different, huh? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:50, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Your talk page (FF vs Safari)

(While the original conversation was started to just call Dux's page ugly)

Used to be awesome, although a bit complicated. Now....-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 20:19, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Now? I wanted to see what I could do instead of having separate headings for every person. A few people were confused. I'll have a go at this format, and switch back if the other one is better. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:34, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

It's no longer broken for me, your talk page that is. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 22:50, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah I've tried to get all of the formatting and code to look exactly the same in IE 7 as it does in FF. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:34, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
No no, it looked messy in Safari. Rounded borders + close together = messy. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 23:48, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Well screw Safari. Use Camino if you want something to still look shiny like Safari, but have FireFox at the core of it all, complete with extensions. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:51, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
It may not have all that many extensions and such, but it sure is fast. Fastest, if I may say so. :) --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 23:58, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Oh, and you bought into all of that marketing about browser speed and rendering? You realise that it is that fast these days, with any modern system you will see almost no difference? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 00:00, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Still noticeably faster :). Probably safer too, although I've never tried Safari on a PC. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 00:08, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Safari on PC sucks balls. Again, I'd go with Camino if I were using a mac (which I will be getting one soon). --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 00:09, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Mmmm. Can it check both grammar and spelling, though? Safari can. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 00:11, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Auto checks spelling, and I'm sure there is a grammar extention too. That's the thing - you can make FF do anything you want. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 00:13, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Except mute sounds. No extension will stop FF from playing certain sounds. :( --PdeqTalk* 00:18, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Does the edit window like FF unfortunately, no likey. Oogly. Does all the FF only things, rounded borders, font looks (a few are pixelish) etc. Same speed for loading pages, except slower on the pics. Not bad, not bad. I think I'm going to replace FF with Camino. Still keeping Safari, though. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 00:21, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

I know realise that this format encourages discussion amongst different users on my talk page, and the other more useful for finding info quickly and keeping everything categorised. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 00:06, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

It's a better format overall, but I think it's a bit ugly. Your last one was all swanky and stylish looking with pretty colors that made my eyes hurt (well, all semi-bright colors hurt my eyes. So I guess that doesn't quite matter anymore), while your new page is ugly, yet easier to edit. No copy-pasta of the colored headings. When you're done with this layout, try combining the two. Oh, and I modified the header to help suit my original reason to come here. Hope you don't mind. :D -- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 00:35, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

I found your page to be quite pleasing to the eye, until some bugger went and put a huge great title in the table of contents :( -- boxy talki 00:36 3 January 2008 (BST)

I'm sorry boxy. Can you ever forgive me?-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 00:49, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Down on yer knees, and beg :P Hey, it's not as annoying as when people put html or other coding in their titles! -- boxy talki 01:52 3 January 2008 (BST)

Question

Question:

The Surrealists

Dux, might I inquire as to the current status of this fine group? I see you revitalized it relatively recently, with limited success, but I do not know if it is still active. It would be a terrible shame for the Surrealists to be lost. -- User:VI/signature 20:05, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

It's not really active at the moment. I had one real other member, and a few other interested parties, but I never had the time to run a group. My PKer is now just a general member of Red Rum. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 00:07, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
That's too bad. Oh well. Good luck to you. -- User:VI/signature 03:16, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Boo!

My my, you are still around here? And still sporting a innovative (as far as I know) user page? To quote a fool, "all i can say just Wow!! Cool!!"--Lachryma 05:19, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

So the bitter, bitter nature of the wiki hasn't driven you away?  ;)--Lachryma 20:49, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
That's a good, positive take on things. So, how's UD? Any of your alts bored and wanna rejoin Ghetto Cow for a bit?--Lachryma 00:31, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
I've decided we are going to take Moggridge PD to bug the RRF. The gathering point is the SW corner of Nichols, stop by! (And come to the NMC forum too, if ya want)--Lachryma 02:38, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Why's my signature all wonky?

Hey, I haven't been very active lately, but I'm back, and for some reason, the timestamp on my signature is acting all wonky! Do you have any idea what's causing it? It's a bit rude looking, the way it stands... Also, for the life of me, I can't recall how to change what zone my timestamp is in (I want to change it from BST to UTC). Thanks! --Morgan Blair 20:00, 24 April 2008 (BST)

Well, I solved the wonkyness, so you can't see what it looked like anymore... In short, the timestamp looked like it was in a
<pre>
box below my signature, and totally breaking the style of each and every page it was in. The cause? I'd had an unclosed tag in my sig's M.E.R.C.Y. link, and when I simply duplicated that portion of code to add a NecroWatch link, it somehow caused all the wonkyness. So it was my original sloppy wikicode coming back to bite me.
However, I still can't figure out how to change my timestamp's zone... --Morgan Blair 20:26, 24 April 2008 (BST)

Hey, you left a message asking if I was still around... um... over a year ago. D: Just wanted to respond for completion's sake - I only just got back to Urban Dead and I don't really have time even for playing it (and that's saying something, with there just being 50 AP to do things, and 40 of them typically being the manufacturing of syringes, hah), much less doing anything extensive on the wiki. I did very much want to sorry about vanishing so abruptly, mind - and for only getting back to you now (even if that was in itself an answer). :( I'll help with small things where I can. -pinkgothic 18:37, 9 July 2008 (BST)

As I mentioned on Boxy's page, If it doesn't have to be in wiki syntax I could throw up a version like the one you want in like 5 seconds. But the way it is now Instead of seperating it into three rows and then in those tags adding all the column tags for the column in that row you seperated it by columns then put in all the rows in that column. Makes it so that it would be easier to put lines under each row than between each column(cause you can't edit one section of code to effect the whole column.)--Karekmaps?! 01:46, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Sure.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 05:59, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Text merged, heading added. Remember to reference and give examples of why this policy is needed through links, like I have done under the 'edts' sub-heading. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:02, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Now, I need your opinion. Should the questions be dealt by a 'crat, or could it be a sysop? I think it'd be fine either way, as they're going to be the same required questions every time, but whats your opinion?-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 06:15, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
An unbiased sysop sourced from a small pool of promotion-overseers could be an idea. 'crats have been known to be away or too busy to deal with promotions in the past. Or just have the 3 standard questions listed already, and sysops able to list their own optional questions underneath. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:18, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
First draft done.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 06:28, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Did a few grammatical edits, but other than that, I like it. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:34, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Alright, I'll work on the indication of trust now.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 06:38, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Yes and commented. :) -- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 06:43, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Sorry about that. >_< -- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 07:10, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
No problem. Think it's good enough for submission for policy discussion? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 07:11, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Sure, unless you have any more to add. I'll leave the policy page creation up to you.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 07:13, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Welcomenewbie templates

What's all that template code you added about? --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 01:15, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Well I still want to revise the welcomenewbie template, and try to find some use for it. I think there is little point adding it to new user's talk pages, but I'm sure it could be used in some other fashion. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 01:19, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, instead of a big template, there could perhaps be a simple "hi" and a few links to help pages, mentor, simple stuff like that. I just hate seeing red links.--  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 01:22, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Well, that's the point of the {{Welcomenewbie?}} template. Still, I want to somehow merge the two. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 01:27, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
As a new user, I found the welcome template to be fairly cold unwelcoming. The first edit I made was to delete it... When I got around to needing it, I ripped it off some other n00b's talk page and still couldn't find exactly what I was looking for on it. I usually end up going to w.pedia's cheats (example: available web font list). Not picking you guys or project welcome. The n00b template just seemed to fall a bit short for me. I am sure tons of people try to make a UD user page for the first time, make one mistake, freak out, and never log back in again.--Airborne88Zzz1.JPGT|ZC|MI|E! 08:30, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

A/VB

If it's not too much trouble, please rule- I just want to go to sleep, I've been kept awake by this case. Thanks.  Nalikill  TALK  E!  W!  M!  USAI  06:11, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

It's already been ruled by Hagnat, has it not? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 10:45, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Controversial cases generally require multiple sysops ruling to make the drama come to an end. I advise extreme objectivity here, Dux; Nali obviously came to you because he expects you to rule in favour of him. --Cyberbob DORIS CGR U! 10:46, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
You might find this policy document informative mate. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 11:13, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Uhm, You really can't rule Bad Faith but Not Vandalism, that's just asking to lose a misconduct case.--Karekmaps?! 12:22, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
No, that's me ruling that the action in itself is not vandal-worthy, but still not a positive one. That's my ruling, like it or not. And it's not in contradiction with the policy, Grim. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 19:16, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Arbitration(it's not vandalism)

No, I moved it to the talk page, where commentary belongs.  Nalikill  TALK  E!  W!  M!  USAI  21:11, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

And if it's not too much trouble, could you strike one of my warnings? (now that I'm eligible.)  Nalikill  TALK  E!  W!  M!  USAI  21:12, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. How about that warning, though?  Nalikill  TALK  E!  W!  M!  USAI  21:41, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
How about you stop bugging me? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:15, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Policy Edits

Alrighty, you can revert it if you want. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 03:56, 4 May 2008 (BST)

It's fine, just ask next time. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 04:01, 4 May 2008 (BST)

Hells yeah

I'm one of the current 'Crats. It happened right after I became a sysops too, close run with Nubis. Where have you been Dux man? How's the drug business?--Suicidal Angel, Help needed? 20:10, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
