Basic Info:

  • A monument is a city block containing a statue or similar piece of public art, without a building in it. It is functionally equivalent to a street, except that players with the Tagging skill can gain 2 XP for writing graffiti on a monument.
  • This is, game-play wise, an empty block, and cannot be barricaded.
  • After the July 3, 2009 update, some monuments became tall and can be seen from a distance with binoculars

Description

The monument stands proudly in the Lorenzo Hospital's carpark.

Humans and zombies alike will see the following (permanent) description when standing in front of the monument:

"You are at the Higgs Monument, a white marble obelisk at the top of a low flight of steps."

A bronze statue of Harry 'Tubby' Higgs, legendary centre-back for the Malton Rovers, standing on a plinth constructed out of breeze blocks. The statue is reputedly the exact same weight as 'Tubby' was at the height of his career.

History

This Monument was erected to football player and publican 'Tubby' Higgs in recognition of his services to football and medical science during the 1980s. The citation read at the Monument's unveiling in 1991 read as follows:

This monument is dedicated to Henry Higgs, Esquire, sportsman and pub landlord of the parish of St Eusebius, who, with malice aforethought, did injure and maim some 127 of his sporting opponents both on and off the field of play. Without his contribution, the A&E ward at the Lorenzo General Hospital would have lain empty for many weeks of the football season. Furthermore, we do solemnly declare that Higgs did indeed eat all the pies, as was long suspected by Rovers fans, and we hereby announce that his pub serves the best Botulismburger'n'Chips in all of Malton. Signed, the parish council of St Eusebius, in the Year of Our Kevan, MCMXCI."
