Basic Info:

  • Malls are an excellent place to find a wide range of items; the only major items that cannot be found here are fuel cans. As such, Malls are frequently used as safehouses and fortresses by survivors. Zombies often check inside (when they can get in), and organized zombie groups sometimes lay siege to them. They are listed as a Tactical Resource Point.

Description

Archway Mall is a four block shopping mall in the suburb of West Monroeville. The mall was constructed as part of the 'City Project' that took place in Monroeville during 2008 as part of the planned development of the city center further eastward. Archway Mall, which began construction in 2005 and finished in spring of 2007, was to straddle the suburbs of West Monroeville. However the Energy Crisis of 2005 brought construction to a screeching halt hence few people wished to move into the new areas, which were so far away from the rest of the city. Unfortunatley at this time, the government's funds were low and they sought investments from local companies. It was at the point which Sinclair Inudstries offered to loan the government money in exchange for a percentage ownership of the mall.

The mall is large and has an enormous glass roof, which allows the many shoppers to gaze at the sky while they are going about their business. This large glass roof is held in place by strong concrete pillars, which stand both as an engineering feat and a unique touch to the mall that has attracted many shoppers over the last year. The design of the mall accompanied by the red color scheme are greatly complimented by the shopping lanes which branch off inside the mall, this gives the impression that shoppers are walking through a city rather than a mall. Due to this unique design, shops have adopted a more 'high tech' approach to the way they present themselves and what they sell. The overall aim of this was to give the impression that this 'city mall' will be a not too distant future for the surrounding area of Monroeville, who it is hoped, would have increased the asthetic properties of buildings as part of a region wide 'facelift', if it were not for the recent infestation that is.

Barricading Policy

One corner of the mall should be Very strongly barricaded at all times. Not enough survivors have Free Running for an EHB building.

Can we get this barricade policy either adhered to or changed? Currently, all corners of mall are EHB and this policy can be misleading.--Nathan Blackwell 14:07, 5 April 2008 (BST)

July 9th

Archway Mall is gone. Surviving inhabitents have fled, however the vast majority of survivors have now joined the zombie hoard. Fleeing survivors scattered to the four winds, with no known safehouse or meeting point safe from zombie attack. Estimated numbers of survivors who made it out vary from less than ten to almost twenty in total. --Plucky 9 July 2008

The horde of zombies outside the Southwest corner of this mall managed to breach the barricades today for a brief moment before survivors repaired them. This group of zombies has been growing in size on a daily basis, attracted to the groans from the mall. It seems we may soon see this area of Monroeville succumb to zombie attacks, as the wave of destruction has spread from the eastern half of this suburb.--StinkyZed 8 July 2008

The doors are open, the survivors remaining inside are being murdered by the zeds who have broken in. Each corner of the mall has more zeds than survivors, and the majority of survivors inside have now been killed. Some few remain, but will either fall soon or flee.-- Plucky 8 July 2008

Everywhere outside the mall is dead... every polices station, mall, fortress, whatever. I lost at a polices station.... No matter what, keep the place barricaded at EHB, and pray that all goes well. -- User:Scion Of Beginnings 8July, 08

Currently, the mall is still secure, but there are zombies drifting eastward from Oak Hills. The number of zombies in the area continues to rise and according to radio broadcasts in the area Raisden PD(359, 6) to the West may have fallen. --Reisch 6 July 2008

The mall is secure, but the amount of zombies wandering around/near it seems to be rising. The building has been EHBd in an attempt to ward them off...--Techercizer 04:40, 3 July 2008 (BST)
