Description: There is a problem with the ?rise command: If you use it as a survivor, you immediately become a zombie. This happened to me and I got headshot and thrown out.

Discussion

  • Hmm, this is odd. I tried this with both my characters, no deaths, when I type ?rise into my main character ([1]) nothing happens, no message, no AP loss. But then when I do it for my alt ([2]), it takes me straight back to the page it displayed with my first character. When I perform an action on that page, or refresh map.cgi it performs that action with my alt. Not the faintest idea what's going on. --Preasure 18:09, 24 August 2006 (BST)

Zombies blocking DNA extraction line

Current Status: well, several others report it too
Severity: intensely irritating
Description: Lately I've been having trouble DNA scanning more than one zombie in a group.

I'll be at a revive point that has multiple zeds, and scan one to make sure it's not a rotter. Turns out it is a rotter(or a PKer, or somebody else I don't want to revive), so I'll try to scan the next zed in line. But instead of scanning the next one, it will re-scan the first zombie; so I'm not able to identify, or revive, the other waiting zombies. In other words, I can only scan the first zombie in line. Some discussion of the issue, and reports from others with the same problem, over at Brainstock.

I use an older version of Safari (1.3.2) since I haven't updated my OS, and I can click the attack button several times before the page refreshes. Just now, I hit it more times than I had available XP and I am in negative XP. I can upload the screenshot for proof, but I am presently at -2AP. This is a pretty trivial bug, in that I'm not getting something for nothing, but it does give the possibility of me getting two extra attacks in before I run out of AP.

Description: If a contact has died and you attack them (most likely by accident), a message appears:
Your target moves away before you can attack them.

Clearly a dead body can't parry the attack and this message appears to be in error. Perhaps it should read as (or some such sensible message):

Your target lies dead at your feet.

Discussion
This likely stems from the target being unavailable in the attack box. But it's not really such a bug, more of a possible change. Make a suggestion of it. --Preasure 17:02, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

I thought so at first too and posted there originally, but Kevan redirected the topic here, so here it stays. --IrradiatedCorpse 16:17, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I think it's basically that since you can't attack them, it assumes that they have moved. --V2Blast TP!CSR 19:14, 28 April 2007 (BST)

I had last logged in with my 3 characters some time yesterday and when I logged in earlier today (1:53pm MY time) to play. One of my characters was fully charged and another was mostly charged with AP. However, when I went to log into "Ann ill ate", my character was totally depleted of AP. What's up? I always clear out cookies and my browser regularly, particularly before I log off my PC.

I currently finally gained some APs but I have no idea what happened to all the APs I should have accrued, like I did on my other characters, from a complete night's rest and most of the morning through to noon of today. Hmmm...

Description: A few days ago, I was playing when it said I had hit my IP limit. I decided to donate, I hit the Donate buton, then went out. When I came back, I thought again and went back to the map. The IP hit limit notification was gone, and it said I had used up all my action points, although I still should have had 25. However, it still showed the map, and I clicked on a space. It said I now had 55 AP. When I moved again, it was still at 55. I was honest and logged out after it said that about 10 times.

Discussion
What happened after you logged out? Did it go back to normal? --V2Blast TP!C 19:47, 9 August 2006 (BST)

  • It went back to normal the next day (after the ip hit counts were purged)--Gold Blade 20:10, 9 August 2006 (BST)

-I have a problem where the APs used standing up seem to all count toward the hit limit, even though it should only count as 1 hit. I had a character revive several times today, and with my 3 characters, I've somehow used up the limit despite not having really anything else on the server, and should have been well below it.

Discussion
What order did you scan them in? Did you scan Rolf last? --V2Blast TP!C 19:49, 9 August 2006 (BST)

Yes, I scanned Rolf last. The AP counter proves that for my currently tired mind. Sorry this took so long to reply to, I forgot to check for the last couple of weeks. Fog of Fire was scanned first, and for some reason when I clicked "revive thsi specimen" on Rolf it revived Fog. --Calzion Smith 13:48, 24 August 2006 (BST)
Haven't been able to replicate this, and it shouldn't be possible, even with the craziest of multiple-window approaches - the ID of the target is part of the "Revivify" button. --Kevan 21:46, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Description: My alternate character, Sammantha Rimstead (http://urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=618586) had just been revived, and was wandering around infected. She eventually used an FAK on herself, and walked into Yealindil Towers as an entry point. Moving up 1 square NW, then one SW to the Latrobe Building (near Caiger), she found another survivor there. She took a chance for XP and fired at one of the zombies in teh square with a Flare Gun, and hit him with a 2.5% chance. Following this, she said, "Wow, I actually hit him!" to the survivor nearby, then found another zombie had attacked her three times. She used an FAK, and the zombie had hit her 2 MORE times on top of this. Sammantha then freeran with 3 HP remaining to Caiger's NE corner. She searched the drug store- and the game informed me that I had been attacked by a zombie for 3 damage, and subsequently killed. Of course, at that time, there were no zombies in that part of Caiger, and so I promptly stood up and started hollering 'Mrh?'. Didn't work, but what the hell happened?

Discussion

  • I have now personally experienced this same thing. My zombie character, HyramGraff, was able to breach Caiger Mall and five other zombies got in. I died once and was able to stand back up before my body was dumped, and as I was running out of AP I was getting killed again. So with 1 AP left I went to a profile page and then hit the return to the city button. As I expected I was dead, not even from a zombie hunter, so I hit the stand up button hoping that I would still be inside and that they would have to kill me a third time. However when I stood up I found that since my last turn I had been killed by a zombie hunter and that standing had cost me 6 AP instead of just one. Included is a screen shot of what I saw. Note that you can tell that I have just stood up because of the ?rise in the URL and because scent actually tells me where that survivor is instead of saying scent lost. DeadUponRise.PNG --RedKnight 05:09, 26 February 2006 (GMT)
  • To add to the general confusion here, the next night when I logged in I discovered that I had been killed again, with a total of 45 damage taken. --RedKnight 07:32, 27 February 2006 (GMT)

That screenshot is confirmation of this bug i reported some time ago. --Grim s 00:41, 28 February 2006 (GMT)

  • Ok, I've seen another instance of this happening, just not to me this time. Still siegeing Caiger Mall and while I was busy slamming the baricades it seems that a couple of other zombies were able to kill the same survivor. The zombies in question are barker444 (http://www.urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=345962) and JohnnyBeware (http://www.urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=287695). According to the timestamp on the messages, the kill occured at (03-09 06:24 GMT). I have a screen shot of this if anyone would like me to post it. --RedKnight 06:39, 9 March 2006 (GMT)

This happened to me too at Caiger. About 3 or 4 zombies got 2 humans in a row. Apparentley thay were talking about their ironing. Anyway, I don' see what's really wrong with this bug, becuase it should be like the kill overflow, where you get extra XP if you are smart. Discussion
Confirmed. I just destroyed a generator with an empty pistol. Based on the high number tries I needed, I would say it was using the 'punch' hit-percentage -- something akin to pistol-whipping the generator. -- Bilge Monkey 17:18, 28 February 2006 (GMT)

My guess is it was just using the normal non-crowbar percentages to destroy a generator. Unless that's what you were trying to say. — g026r 21:37, 14 March 2006 (GMT)

Discussion
Does this happen while you're using it, or during the hours you're not online? Is anyone else in the building with you? It seems most likely that another player is just retuning it, because they don't recognise or agree with your choice of frequency. --Kevan 04:28, 5 June 2006 (BST)

I think he is talking about the radio itself, not the transmittor. –Xoid 04:43, 5 June 2006 (BST)
Character name would be useful for looking into this, then. And when does it happen - on random turns, immediately after having tuned it, or when? --Kevan 09:57, 5 June 2006 (BST)
I'm pretty sure the specific charecter is bybbor (ID=542094). It's happening with the handheld radios when I'm not online, it's only happened twice, so it's hard to determine a pattern. This time I punched a zombie as a survivor (so survivor skills) and hit a zombie a few times till an infection killed me. I then went inside a building abd used same attack on a poor chap who I mauled up bad, each hit gaining only 1 XP. Characters name was Hankrot (may have been Rawtskin the Gassy last time, I don't recall). Thr problem did not persist last time it happened when I played the next day. Slow AP Regeneration

Description: For a few hours a few days ago, and for the last 17 hours my charactor Kevin Axe has had his AP regenerate at half the normal rate, although this seemed to end once I logged off and went to bed. Logging out of Kevin Axe did not solve this problem, and my other charactor, Axeman89, has had his AP generate at the normal rate. This is especially problematic because it took Kevin Axe five hours last night to find a non-extremely heavily barricaded building, which has now been overrun with zombies.

Discussion

Hm. Were you refreshing a lot? I'm asking because I know the naive way of coding AP regeneration (which seems widely used) can "steal" AP wait time, because it puts the time you loaded the script into the field that stores when you got your last AP. Meaning if you've waited 59 minutes, you'd load the page, get 1 AP, but you'd get your next AP 30 minutes later rather than 1 minute later... maybe this game also uses that, which would explain why it "fixed itself" when you logged off. Hm. Anyone? -pinkgothic 00:39, 30 Dec 2005 (GMT)
Pinkgothic: definitely not the way UD's AP regeneration is coded. Jad Tannus 19:51, 16 Jan 2006 (GMT)
I appreciate your input, Jad, but could you be more specific? I'm not trying to discredit you, it's just that you're making that claim without saying where you even know this from, and it irks me a bit. So - Have you tried? :) -pinkgothic 16:12, 25 Jan 2006 (GMT)
It seems to have happened again. An hour after logging out, I found that Kevin Axe was at -1 AP, and Axeman89 at 0 AP. When I logged out, they had both been at 0 AP. Axeman89 03:38, 13 Feb 2006 (GMT)
It happened today as well. Axeman89 01:40, 1 March 2006 (GMT)
It occured today as well, like yesterday to Kevin Axe only. Axeman89 23:09, 1 March 2006 (GMT)
...And again. It seems to happen once I get back inside Caiger Mall after a sortie, and start scrounging, especially around 1900-2100 CST (0100-0300 GMT.) Is this really happening to me only? I seem to get one AP every hour for short periods. I'm sure it's a bug, I know exactly when both my charactors get their AP, and Axeman89 seems to be doing well. Axeman89 03:18, 3 March 2006 (GMT)
It's occuring nightly now, whenever I use up all of my AP. Axeman89 23:39, 4 March 2006 (GMT)
Okay, UD has a 2 AP-per-hour cycle. Let's say I register at 0000, and use up AP afterwards. Let's say that I get 50 AP at 0100. If I wait 40 minutes, do I next get AP at 0200, or at 2100? Perhaps the time that I get AP has just changed, although it doesn't seem that way when I have plenty of AP. Still, I can't check this myself, as I haven't donated to UD, and can't refresh constantly. Perhaps I'll check next time the clock approaches 0000 GMT... Axeman89 01:13, 5 March 2006 (GMT)

I'd like to just add that I've had the AP on my character regenerate slowly. Logged off last night and came on today to find that I've barely regained any AP. I should have had somewhere between 40 and 50 AP and I actually only had 14. --Tethran 16:15, 30 July 2006 (BST)

I've had AP disappear on me too, it just happened to killbot 235. I'm on an old iMac using Safari and OSX 10.3.9
It was just 10 or so, and it happened a few moves after I stood up. --Bob the Mediocre 05:37, 11 March 2006 (GMT)
I've had the same thing happen. I was absolutely sure that I had 50 AP, and when I stood up I was reduced to 35, as though I had been headshot, which I hadn't. Only happened once. odd thing was, after a few more moves it said I was over the IP hit limit, yet it was the first time I had logged on in over a day. --Kiltric 22:42, 11 July 2006 (BST)

Large Building Visibility Bug on Death/Stand-Up

Description: My zombie character, BrAiNs9, entered the NW corner of Hildebrand Mall. I saw a survivor, don't have the name, in the SW corner and moved to attack. My character was killed, and on the screen where you can stand up I could only see the SW corner of the mall. I think this makes sense because you wouldn't be able to see other parts when dead. The problem is after I stood up, I could still only see this one square of the mall. Moving to another corner did correct this.

Discussion

Do you know if refreshing makes a difference? As in, if you would go to the /map.cgi (without any parameters) after revived (and only seeing one square), would that fix it? Or does really only moving fix it? *curious* -pinkgothic 00:29, 12 Jan 2006 (GMT)
I just noticed this bug. I was inside caigar with my zmobie (yay) when i was killed by a fellow zamba. Since my body didnt got dumped, i saw only the inside of the SW corner, even when i standed up. Once i moved to another corner i then could see the other corners. I just re-created the bug. You really cant see the other corners unless you refresh the window once you stand up or do something that causes the window to refresh. Anyway, it's a minor bug, and i think no one will die because of it. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 21:54, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

You have 3HP remaining." He used his FAK to cure his infection, but UD said that a zed did 3 damage and killed my character (even though no zeds were visible. I was also unable to buy any zed skills.

Discussion
Hmm, that sounds a bit like he killed you just as you left, but it only registered later? A lag effect? Very odd, at the very least... with "I was also unable to buy any zed skills" I assume you mean that after you were dead this way, you couldn't buy zed skills, like you should, being a zombie? Giving that, I've got a question, did it show you as dead? And what happened when you reloaded the page, were you alive or dead then? And were you able to buy zombie skills then, if dead? -pinkgothic 17:47, 11 Feb 2006 (GMT)

I was dead, which is why I was revived. Axeman89 03:38, 13 Feb 2006 (GMT)

As I moved, the time stamps started to move backwards, it is currently at 3 minutes. I would imagine that at 0 it will disappear. The user who spoke was Drake Austin.

Discussion
As predicted, it disappeared at 0. Perhaps there is conflict between the server's clock and the browser clock based on geographic location. I had a similar problem with a site I programmed when I used the browser's time. It was remidied when I switched everything to server time. --ERNesbitt 00:05, 31 July 2006 (BST)

  • What browser do you use? --V2Blast TP!C 16:53, 10 August 2006 (BST)
  • Just saw this happen, 3 events were in the future(notice how they're listed in reverse age, the oldest event usually appears at the top):
   * Will Saver said "Could use some HP, FAK's please. Thank you." (19 minutes ago)
   * A flare was fired 8 blocks to the west and 10 blocks to the south. (20 minutes ago)
   * Covert Ops Wizard killed Will Saver. (22 minutes ago)
This isn't a browser issue, using the local browser time would require some javascript and the page has no script at all. These events occurred in the upper right corner of Caigar Mall and presumably had a timestamp of approximately 9:45pm EST on Sept 25, that's when they will hit "0" and expire. -- Rueful 02:40, 26 September 2006 (BST)

I'm Jad Tannus if it's necessary.

Discussion

There are two players whose characters I find myself unable to add to my contacts list with my zombie character I receive a 'You are not logged in.' message, when I quite clearly am as I have just added other players to the list for that character. Player ID's for the two folks I can't add are FXZ (id=302700) and EveDE (id=303002) Tyrmorr 02:30, 22 Jan 2006 (GMT)

I've had this happen to me, but realized that I was logged into (and a cookie with a domain of) www.urbandead.com. Whereas the profile I was looking at was from plain urbandead.com. When clicking profile links from forums, etc., pay attention to the www. or lack thereof. Bilge Monkey 16:18, 7 March 2006 (GMT)

I'm having this problem as well, only it's different. I run two characters, and I'm trying to add some contacts to one of them (since he's about to join a zombie group), but when I add them, they go into the Contacts List of my other character. I tried going to a local computer lab and doing it from there (thus resolving the cookie problem that I suspected), but now it says that I'm not logged in. -Lord Kelvin 04:45, 24 April 2006 (BST)
I found a semi-solution to this, don't know why it works, but it does. What you do is when it gives you the "You are not logged in" screen, click on the link "Back to the City" and it should take you to a login screen. Log in again from there, and then try adding the contact again. It worked for me. -Lord Kelvin 04:51, 24 April 2006 (BST)
  • So would this be considered semi-fixed? And if this is a known bug, someone move it appropriately. --V2Blast 22:08, 6 June 2006 (BST)

Since I am getting bored with my present character I decided to make a new profile and see if there was anything to do as a survivor. Here's where the problem starts. I logged out and clicked create new profile on the logout page (http://www.urbandead.com/map.cgi?logout), a screen came up saying "Welcome to Urban Dead, period" in the heading bar and showed a button saying "Start". It does this on either of my computers regardless of whether I have logged in recently or not. It also does this from the main page (http://www.urbandead.com) I clicked it and now i have -5 ap, i had 0 before... i can't make a new profile please explain.

Discussion

I kinda have the same problem ok, ever since I have started using firefox everytime I try to login as my other characters it always logs me in as my main, I always log out so thats not the problem .And everytime I try to create a new player it shows that welcome thing as if I created one but after welcome it says my main characters name and then it has that little start button.PLEASE HELP! --IAC Zombie 23:36, 10 Oct 2005 (BST)

That happened to me before, all you need to do is delete the cookies and it should work...I think.-- Krazy Monkey 15:48, 22 April 2006 (BST)

Simultaneously attacked by momemtomori,RRF. when returned to screen, the XP gone but no skill in profile. Am able to score as before but still no skill. Help please. Can I have either the points or the skill, please.

Discussion

I can confirm this. I just purchased Free Running for my Scientist character (monteau), and lost 150XP, but I still lack the skill. Ghamill 21:35, 6 Jan 2006 (GMT)
I can also confirm this. I just reached level 9 with my cop (Eldred Jonas - [3]) and purchased First Aid (for 100XP). It took the XP off me, but has neither given me the skill, nor increased my level, I'm still at 8. Is there any chance of getting either the skill/level I should have, or my XP back at least? Zombie Skill Issue

Description: I recently joined the ranks of the dead, I had every human skill besides knife. I had 600 xp leftover from being a human so I bought a few zombie skills, one of which (I did not at all press the wrong button, 100% sure of that) was rend flesh, I noticed my damage didn't change. After looking in my profile, I had brain rot, the only zombie skill I most definetly did not want. It would be great if I could get rid of it, I don't even care about losing the 100XP I spent on it.

Discussion

As a zombie, i bought the "Vigour Mortis" skill. It worked for a while, I was revivified, and then was killed again. I retained this skill and was able to use it up until today. When I logged in, I realized that my percentages when attacking went back to the normal ones. So I looked at my skills, and now i have "Scent Fear". I'm not sure how this happened; I didn't have enough XP to buy another skill, and my old one is gone. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks. --Virigl 21:11, 27 Oct 2005 (BST) Virgil
Ditto for what Tae said. Is there a way to get rid of it? I did donate, does that let a player do it? --MaulMachine 10:44, 08 January 2006 (EST)
Something along this line, I've started with Vigour Mortis, added Death Grip, and had been rather enjoying my 50% to hit. Today, logging in, I was already a zombie, killed by a zombie overnight, so I stood up...and here's what I found. I'm gonna camp outside the hospital for a bit and try it later; I'll post what happens. --Cziesckowa 18:36, 3 August 2006 (BST)
Just happened to me, actually. I was looking at the skills page, but I didn't buy one. When I returned to the map, I saw that I only had 7 EXP left, and when I went back to the skill page, I saw that I had Death Rattle, which I certinaly did not buy, or even want. It isn't too severe - I'm sure I would have bought it eventually anyway, but still annoying to have skills purchased for you. --LazerZero 12:24, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Discussion

I've just had the same thing happen to me. I healed a fellow survivor, and then when I went to attack a zombie I was suddenly at 59 HP 'due to infection'. No attack had been reported against me at this point. Character name Daemarth. — g026r 00:31, 4 Jan 2006 (GMT)
Something similar to this has happened to me twice now. Right after being revived, I was also infected, even though there was no message about being bitten. — Bones Smith 17:54, 14 Feb 2006 (GMT)
I believe that if you become infected before being revived, that the infection stays even after you are revived. At least, that's how it always seemed to work in the past when I was revived. Don't know if that's still (or ever was) supposed to be the case. — g026r 03:51, 17 Feb 2006 (GMT)
  • Agreed. If you die while infected, when you come back to life, you stay infected. It's happened to me before. But that's not the issue here. The person was never attacked (well, if they were, they didn't know) yet they became infected at some point. --V2Blast 22:15, 6 June 2006 (BST)
