Game Update

Hallelujah, headshot zombies can stand back up. Assuming they can keep standing back up, the game might actually get interesting again. But if the zombie numbers drop low once more, and there's enough of us still alive, the idea's still here.

Ferroque Necari?

"To die by the sword." I was also considering "Monboreville."

Jen: So far, the only half decent name I've found is Ferroque Necari. But Latin might scare people.
Kingofparades: I vote for Ferroque Necari. BECAUSE Latin might scare people.
Jen: Alright. Heh...and another bonus of the name is that, abbreviated to FN, it sounds like "eff'n"

And, yes. I know that that's a picture of a gun, not a sword. Bear with me for a minute.

Purpose

FN is an attempt to put some "life" back into Monroeville by forming two teams of players, who will hunt down and kill one another.

It's more an "event" than a group. If you're bored in Monroeville, or have embarked on a career of PKing (or are about to) because it's the only challenge left in the game...consider FN instead.

  • You'll be doing something more interesting than whack-and-FAK.
  • The people you're PKing will have agreed to being PKed.
  • More zombies will be created. Making the zombie-hunters happy, too. And the zombies.
  • Those who want to live life on the edge can do so...and those who just want to look for zombies can be left in peace.
  • You're going to die anyway. Go down fighting, not knifed in your sleep by some random itinerent PKer.

Basically -- we're trying to create another option for bored Monroeville players. One that'll give people the opportunity to PK, without ruining the game for people who'd prefer to be killed the undead.

Yes, some people will still PK randomly. Because that's the sort of challenge they've wanted from the start -- themselves against everyone, delivering permanent death to those who don't want it.

But I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person who wants to do something more exciting than whack-and-FAK-and-wait-for-zeds, but doesn't necessarily want to go the random-target PKer route. Or the bounty-hunter route, for that matter.

Guidelines

  • Kill the opposing team. And zombies, if you want to waste the ammo.
  • Register participating characters on the talk page. Or ask in-game to BE registered.
  • We'll start once we have at least 10 people. (Two teams of five). This number is negotiable. But some sort of concrete goal is necessary, right now, so we'll aim for 10.
  • We'll worry about other details, like forums and team names and geography, if/when enough people are interested. Again...see the talk page.

Recruitment, Diplomacy, etc.

  • To unaligned, random-target PKers: Join! Or at least let us kill one another in peace. We'll leave you alone as well. Some of us might have decided to become bounty hunters instead of doing this, after all.
  • To bounty hunters, et. al.: Every one of us = one less "real" PKer. Save your bullets for the random-target PKers.
  • To zombies: assuming you can find us, kill us. You're supposed to be the real threat in this game.

Other FAQ

Q: But the borders are opening again! Why kill one another when you can be killing zombies?

A: And when they close again, things will return to the status quo: no zombies, bored survivors. We'll begin when the zombie surge is over.

Q: Uh...if "Ferroque" means "sword," why does your group have a picture of a gun?

A: Err...because I was too lazy come up with a Latin equivalent for "pistol." Think of it as the modern equivalent of a sword. (And because there's no swords in Urban Dead, unless you count the pocket knife).
