"Well, we found this old radio in the back of a junkyard, so we figured we'd make regular broadcasts in case anyone was listening. Hey, if you're out there, this is the Dunell Hills Police Department. We've made a stand and we're going to hold out as long as possible. Maybe someone can record this. Maybe someone outside of Malton will come and rescue us. We'll be here, waiting... I hope."

The Radio Transmitter currently exists in one of the undisclosed DHPD safehouses. A cache of fuel has provided enough energy for regular broadcasts throughout the day, although the wavelength is intermittently used by other survivors to check in, request information, and so on.

DHPD Members are welcome to post, as is anyone else interested in contributing to the 'storyline'.

Glad to be here Crackwhore and yes today we've got some prime rump stew simmering away on the hot pot. Now as many fellow breathers will attest if you're not "in" with one of the hoarder groups like the DHPD then you simply have no errr ... direct access to their stash of good food and alcohol so you have to be somewhat ... flexible in your eating habits <muffled whispers off mic> ...

Sorry Dr ... everyone quiet! Kill the lights!! ... yeh I see them ... <close mic> As we speak dear listeners there's a large mob of The Dead lurching past the open doors, looks like they're heading west towards Peddlesden in a hurry </close mic> ... you sure? Yes, ahhh, well first the rump. The Extinction Harmanz Corps has found the best cuts in all of Malton can actually be found here in the so called "DMZ". We track our Extinction Trooper break-ins such as last night's massacre in Willshire next door which was a bonanza for our favourite cut of all, prime fine grained DHPD rump with plenty of fat! Now you can make do with USAI meat but it is leaner and somewhat gristly. I've saved the best for tonight though.

Wonderful, and I must say listeners it smells GREAT! What's the secret ingredient?

Well ... Fennel actually, it grows like a weed in the wastelands and is overlooked by many. To that I've added some small tuber roots, a quart of blood to thicken and salt, and just a dash of fine Red Wine we found here in the DHPD stash downstairs. I'll serve it up with a garnish of chopped Nesturtian leaves and the flowers ... here you go ... Bon Apetite!

Ben here, again. I'm sitting in a ruined building near the fallen Caiger mall, waiting for orders. The Dead are still strong in numbers, but we've learned to adjust to this way of living, and the survivor population is on the rise. Hard to believe I haven't died through this entire undead campain. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Still, it's pleasing to see the strength of the survivors shining through; for every mall brought down, another rises from the ashes. The annihilation of a suburb hardly means anything these days. The moment the zeds spread out or move on to another target, it simply springs back up. Before I was just hoping, but now I'm confident: The Dead will not bring us down. They may be able to take any suburb through sheer numbers, but who cares? It's just like throwing a blanket of a shining light. The moment they look away, one quick tug and it's back to shining again.

Anyway, enough of my rambling. I have a very important mission to undertake. These coolers of beer won't hide themselves in the ruins, after all. --Ben Charron 02:53, 11 April 2008 (BST)

...used this little recorder in a while. Hope it still works. *clears throat* This is Officer Charron. It's... sometime near the end of Winter. The snow melted a few weeks ago. The snow as nice though; it blanketed all the bodies and well... outta sight outta mind, I guess. *cough* But the bodies on the streets aren't the grimmest thing in Malton these days. The zeds... I don't know if they're just learning or if NecroTech is doin' something to them but... man... they're too much now. Our fortifications are crushed. Our tactics fall short. Our- *clang in background* *silence*

I've taken shelter on a ruined office building, but I don't know how long I can stay here. Heh, it's funny really. Over the years in service in the DHPD I've always felt safe near the Hills, even when a large mob of smarter zombies overtook it for a while. It just seemed like a challenge of getting back the Hills. Now? Nowhere feels safe. Barricading just gets you unwanted attention. This... 'game' of endurance has reduced to cat and mouse.

sigh

What intel I gather from word of mouth says there are less and less survivors every day. Unless the military have been letting people slide out the quarantine, that's definitely not a good thing. So many suburbs are in ruins now. Is anywhere safe anymore? I don't think so.

Many people have given up trying at this point. I see veteran zombie hunters drinking in dark corners, waiting to die. Heh, if only I had that option. Unfortunately for me, as long as there are people still struggling to live, and as long as I wear this badge I don't have that luxury. I must continue to help these people. I have to continue to fight. If not out of compassion or self-preservation, then out of duty.

Has the battle been lost? Yes, it has. The war? I'm not sure at this point. But I'll fight on, with the help of my fellow officers, our allies, and my friends. I don't know if we'll win, but at the least, we'll be a damn stubborn kill.

• crackle* Well well well. Looks like things have been a roller coaster for a while. I remember when I left the DHPD a year ago, over my personal shame of letting the Shining Ones take our beloved Cotty Street, of which I was the station chief back then (despite the objections of my fellow officers, who stated that every other precinct fell and that there was no way Cotty would've stood forever), things were like this. *crackle* I remember the "invincible fortress" of Caiger Mall (as those morons the Caiger Mall Survivors called it) falling for a 2nd time, after which those Shining One bastards spilled over into our Dunell Hills. I remember *static* sending officers to ask for help, a few of which were killed by those useless C.M.S. pricks, including me. Regardless of all of this. I've been wandering this cursed city for a long time, and realized that even through my failure, the D.H.P.D. needed officers. I pre-recorded this broadcast in case I became a zed before it went out. *Static*. Dammit. Should've gotten a better quality recorder. If you are hearing this, then I'm a zed. If you don't mind, D.H.P.D., I'd like to jump in and serve again with you, but I need a rez first. I'll try to make it to Combe Lane, if my mind is still intact. Anyways great to be back and reporting from deep within the Extinction Zone, been awhile but things, as you may have noticed, have been a bit crazy lately. What with the collapse of Caiger Mall and the devastation of the DMZ, like you we spend most of our time trying to get revived. At least we've got that in common. I'd just like to take a moment here to get all close and personal with our dearest friends in the DHPD, you know who you are. We truly wish you only the best ... if only you'd help us stop the revives! All you are doing is keeping the vicious Malton cycle going whereas if we all band together against those who seek to divide us we can finally bring PEACE TO MALTON IN OUR TIME!

Chris Retnam -fizzle-pop- Hello? Anyone out there remember me? It's Chris Retnam. I've been gone a long time--I got gnawed on and just laid down and didn't get up. Listen, I'm in Havercroft, and things are getting really grim here. We were doing so well... There are rotters laying about in the revive points, and our barricades are dissolving. The worst, though, is that in a span of about 20 minutes, Ackland's NW corner went from having 2 zeds outside it to--ah, bleep! -crunch-crack- Hang on, DHPD, I'm moving to another building. -fzzt-

Hello, Dunell Hills! It must have been a while since I've last made a transmission using this radio that we have, way back before the whole of Malton had radio access. When was that, Christmas? -snap-crackle-pop- Don't mind me there, just found myself a muesli bar cache in this building. It's simply amazing what this city holds even after we've been here for this long. What's to report? Let me see.

Right, first off, unless you don't already know, Extinction has left the DMZ en masse and have migrated for sunnier sands up in Dakerstown! They're having a ton of fun up there, from what I hear, taking it on with The Crimson Clan -frizzle- and a whole lot of other groups. Can't say we miss them totally, what with all the clawing day and night that we had to endure for the past two months, but we're out a little stronger, I can tell you that! Redecorations are currently underway, and the lockdown is over. So if you're planning to party in Club Meade and Veal, come on down now while you still can! We've got DJ Mundane (aka Marty Banks) doing his thing on Wednesday and Friday nights and Phil's got his Pin-the-bullethole-on-the-feral-after-you've-had-quite-a-few-beers game going on over the weekend.

My Fellow DHPDers, Allies and Friends

It was bad enough that Survivors were Nerf-ed by the Majority of the updates over the last year...

It's Bad enough that Zeds have been immune to most of Kevan's anti-zerging measures while legitimate players operating out of universities have been pwned...

It's Bad enough that cheaters like Max can get away with Zerging their asses off while people like Me, DHG, Ron Burgundy and any other survivor leader that puts together good ops gets tagged as a Zerg...

Now, Extinction is using automated techniques and tactics to maintain control of NTs and other resource buildings...

I have purposefully been silent for a while because I just haven't had the heart to deal with this BULLSHIT with all the personal crap that has gone on in my life over the last 6 mos, but I have been playing... And I even orchestrated a number of people who had given up the game to come back to play for a bit to see if a difference could be made...

It is obvious the game has been broken by a number of enterprising individuals, and unless serious changes are made to the current Status quo, things are not going to get any better....

Therefore....

I, and anyone I can convince should cease and desist all activities ASAP.

I don't have any problem getting beat in a game fairly but there seems to be serious activities that have taken survivors off the same scale as Zombies some time ago... I f Kevan wants to save this game he's going to have to do some serious rework of the mechanics and stiffen the anti-zerg measures to stop manipulators like Max and his ilk from exploiting the system...

Rockphed This is Lance Constable Rockphed reporting on the current situation. Having followed the smells of potent alcohol across Dunell Hills, I found myself face down in a cemetary. Mustering my strength of will, I arose and sought out help inside a nearby safe house, which I shall call TwoDoba. Twodoba is very safe, especially as all the zombies are attacking caiger about an hour's walk north of here. Production of mind altering beverages is on hold until I can raid some piping from the auto shop next door, but fear not, for shortly I shall resume production of Idiot's Beer. I am very low on ammo, but I have a full tool kit. Now just to find some expensive art! Rockphed out at 19:00.

Rubix41 With the falling snow, the zeds are still numerous. Some are all too particular, such as Retoric, predictable, etc. Some, Count Zergula, etc, plain and stupid. Either way, with the sound of the Mall fallen down and the dead smell of zeds in the air, we have to ask, does the Creator HATE all human survivors? If not, why does he make the world the survivors live in so tough? With the zombies being so many, the need for more survivors to overcome them is necessary. By increasing their boldness, strenghth and their power, one can only say that there will be more survivors.

The infamous PK'ing group are to be terminated on sight, NEVER REVIVED and, on top of that, hunted down to make sure they are not to come back EVER AGAIN. If you are reading Predators, this is the polite version: you're not welcome here. 10/4

Rubix41 This is the Chief of Cotty speaking. I have noticed the illicit and, frankly, explicit appearances of murderers on our Wanted list and believe that rookies are ACTIVELY not checking the wanted on revives or the fact that are a gazillion zeds in the area. In my view, PK'ers are, frankly, a pain in the butt but the common ground SHOULD be that if there are lots of zeds in the area, hostilities should cease until said zeds are terminated. Otherwise, their "targets" will disappear and they end up having to move to a fresher area. So will the zeds. Thus, the consequence of a PK'er helping us terminate zeds is also helping them! (Plus, I am fed up of wasting ammo on them!)

Rubix41 Keeping true to Cotty "Kill Team" Campaign, the station will be kept at EHB until zeds are cleared from the 3x3 surrounding Cotty. [XxSpoonxX] Good evening DHPD. This is your friendly local PKer, XxSpoonxX, here to deliver a series of important messages to whom it may concern.

To start off I’d like to extend my deepest thanks to Chief Rubix41 for his continual friendly nature and professional behavior. In addition, I’d like to thank him for his generous offer of service to the DHPD. The gaming world could use a couple more Rubix’s in my opinion.

Unfortunately, after much deliberation, I have decided to remain a PKer. However I feel some words are in order. First of all, contrary to what Conndraka has stated, I never “committed” to changing my ways. In Conndraka’s defense however I did show interest in working with the DHPD initially, so I apologize for any confusion this may have caused. I also stated that I was “sure we [rubix, DHPD, and I] could work something out”, however this certainty was soon thrown into check.

This however still leaves the question of why. Why? Why kill innocent players, why live building to building, why not strive to survive the way some people play? The answer simply is this: in addition to having a hard time keeping up with highly organized game play, I find PKing to be not only extremely fun, but quite easy in it's nature. It’s just a feeling of supremacy that yes, is ultimately as satisfying as arm wrestling a 4th grader, but still oddly good.

In addition to this I’m on a personal quest to become known by every single player in the game, be it as a hero or villain (at this point probably villain). The way I see it is that the honest PKer (non-cheating) has become sort of the villain everyone loves to hate. Sure I might cap you one day, in the middle of some master plan you’re working on, but how great is it the next time you find me?

I extend an offer to anyone who truly hates PKers: Give me your name and I won’t lay a finger on you (unless in self-defense, or vengeance). If you truly do not wish to embrace this aspect of the game, I can respect that. However this is how I have chosen to play, and thankfully urban dead is a game that embraces individual’s playing styles.

In closing I say this; as a show of good sportsmanship to the DHPD, I leave Cotty now and give my word to not PK anyone until the 11th. This hopefully will give anyone in Cotty or the surrounding area time enough to make any adjustments to plan or formations my temporary amnesty may have changed.
