"Ray."

"Hmm?"

"What've we got to eat?"

"I don't know, Stephen. Go back to sleep."

"Mmmkay."

And that was how it was for our first week on the run. Stephen, my nephew, would sleep for most of the day, waking up to less and less food each day. After that it got worse. Looking back, we were gluttonous eaters in the first week. What we can live on for a week now would only have lasted us a day back then.

But it isn't as if there are no drawbacks. Now we can only manage to do a limited amount of things in a day. Hell, even talking uses energy. My writing arm is tiring after a 5 minute log in this book. When did life become so tough? I can't even be bothered to move anymore.

The secret we found was to open up some boxes in the factories. A plethora of them contained furniture and other useless junk like that, but some had foodstuffs hidden away. The blood covering them from past struggles would put us off our food, but you get used to it. After retching a coupla times.
