Lexicon:Last Stand

The pain of just rolling over was blinding, the flak vest had taken most of the shots but a few punched through, and my ribs felt shattered. Of course that had been a couple weeks ago and now all that was left to remind me were the bandages. The hospital was in a full scale siege, a dozen survivors watched the door, four doctors were moving room to room, and taking care of those too injured to fight. Nearly thirty other survivors were handing out first aid occasionally, checking on the door, or just standing aimlessly. From the third story window I could see things wouldn't last long.
I'd spent the last few days of my recovery befriending some of the more pragmatic. The ones I trusted enough with an offer to join me were highly capable individuals. I told them "It was time" and we moved into the buildings only stairwell and proceeded to lock the doors. While the gang members went downstairs to make sure the survivors only path of escape when the zombies breached was shut I moved up to the roof and sealed them in as well. Seconds later I heard a pounding on the door and someone shouting "Why are you doing this?"
"Because someone needs to take the fall for this," I shouted back while mentally adding 'and I need time to get to Angerstein'. As soon as I had finished talking their was a thunderous booming sound as the barricades at the front door collapsed. Quickly I turned to the ledge and performed a running jump onto the next several buildings until I was just in sight of Angerstein. The place I had purged the system from earlier. It was time to get even.
