Living Deadbeats

The Founding of Deadbeats

The group Living Deadbeats was founded during the early outbreaks of Malton by a man known as Ricky Ray Dawson. In the early days of the infection, Ricky Ray and a few friends attempted to escape Malton by crossing over the city borders. While it is unknown if the rest of his group were successful, it is known that Dawson himself eventually decided to stay behind. There are several factors that influenced his decision to remain in the zombie infested city, but the main one is the one which draws the members of Living Deadbeats together. Before the outbreak, Dawson was just a another normal guy. A substandard loser. However, the zombie outbreak turned out to be a a type of historical eraser. It reduced all humans, white and black, rich and poor, man and woman, to the same conditions. There was no longer a question of status, no competitions to see who had the best car or the nicest house, there was only the difference between life and death. Dawson, seeing what the outbreak had done, decided he could not return to a world of inequality, and thus the turned back to the life awaiting him in the suburbs of Malton.

Banding Together/The First Deadbeats

The first people to declare themselves as Deadbeats were all followers of Ricky Ray Dawson. At first, they only banded together and started seizing buildings for themselves as to survive the zombie hoards. Eventually, the small band of Dawson's Survivors declared their name for the first time as Living Deadbeats. With Dawson at the lead, the group decided that they were going to begin their lives anew, with Dawson at the helm as their group leader. The First Deadbeats were a small band, but they managed to get by.

Fall of the Deadbeats

On March 7th, 2006, tragedy struck the Deadbeats. A group of feral zombies began an assault on the then location of the group. After valiantly trying to hold the barracades, the Deadbeats decided they needed to run. However, only a few made it past the hoard. Almost all the members, including Dawson, were presumed killed at the hands of the undead. With their group leader gone and with so many members fallen, the few surviving Deadbeats disbanded and joined larger survivor groups. They had no other choice but to move on and live.

No one heard from the Deadbeats for a long time after that.

Rise of the Living Deadbeats

On June 27th, 2007, a new group emerged. They called themselves "Living Deadbeats" and were originally from the Darville Heights region, the area in which the last Deadbeats had fallen. This new group proclaimed themselves followers of the first Deadbeats, and vowed to continue on the legacy of Ricky Ray Dawson, the original Deadbeat.

Who are Living Deadbeats?

The Living Deadbeats are people similar to Ricky Ray Dawson. They share his belief that the outbreak wasn't as bad as it at first seemed. While it is true that it has reduced everyone to a harsh life, it can also be said that it has brought many people together. Everyone must work together simply to live now. The losers of the days of old have been given a new chance to do something with their lives. The fruits and labors of technology past are now up for grabs, and all Living Deadbeats have decided to seize this new era for themselves and make up for the earlier days of their lives. If you were a loser, if you had a crappy job or a lousy life, you too are a Living Deadbeat.

Recruitment and Survival Policy

Living Deadbeats are a closed group, and being such they do not recruit new members. There are plenty of groups in Malton that have dedicated themselves to following proper procedures and rules, but the Living Deadbeats do not follow any of these. They only wish to make new lives for themselves, and as such, they do what is neccesary to survive. If something stands in the way of them or their safety, they push it aside. If others come looking to them for assistance, they offer it. But in the end, the Living Deadbeats are only out to make new lives for themselves, and only themselves. We do not stand for Player Killers, Generator Killers, Radio Killers, and others who hurt our chances of survival. We stand against zombies and those who would do us harm.
