plebs [plebz]

plebs or plebeians [plibē'unz] [Lat. plebs=people], were the portion of the Roman people which consisted of the normal, everday people. They were explicitly not of the noble, or patrician class, and lacked many of the rights of the patrician class, until their fight for equality began to bear fruit in the fifth century B.C.

Within the game Urban Dead, a 'pleb' or 'plebian' typically refers to a member of the survivor group called 'The People's Liberation of East Becktown', who are active in the Greater Becktown area. They chose their acronym P.L.E.B. in keeping with their goal of working for the benefit of the people at large, without seeking to elevate themselves to positions of power.
