To Winka

If I should die before the rest of you,
Break not a flower nor inscribe a stone.
Nor, when I'm gone, speak in a Sunday voice,
But be the usual selves that I have known.
Weep if you must,
Parting is hell.
But life goes on, So........
Sing as well.

— Spoken by Marcel Swann,
in dedication to Winka

  • Through out our lives, we meet thousands of people. Most are forgotten, a few affect us in ways that will forever change our lives, but some, some bring us joy in little, momentary ways that are savored even though they might not cherished. Some people are friends that stick around, year after year. We may not say good bye every time we leave. We may not give them a hug every time we part, but they know why. It's because that's not the type of friend they are. They are the friends who are our friends when we want them to be, are our friends when, sometimes, we need them to be. They don't ask anything more in return, because they know we don't ask anything more in return from them. But no matter, because they are our friends. We love them, immensely, even if we never say it. And we know that they love us. Winka was always there for everyone, not just Rangers, or members of the NMC. She was there for every person who played the game or came on the forums. Winka was everyone's friend. It is odd to think that when I come back here after long periods of absence that I won't see her posts anymore. It is odder still to realize that this is affecting me, and all of us, so greatly for someone many of us had never even seen face to face. But we all feel the loss because we knew winka as, well, winka. And winka was one of the most wonderful people any of us ever met in Malton. So a glass of beer for 2win and a glass of scotch for winkalt. You will be missed. --Noah Kling 14:55, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
  • Winka.......I simply can't believe you are gone. I haven't played this game in years and when I came back for a visit only to find out you had passed it hit me like the last blow that crushes the barricades we all used to fight so hard to defend together. During my time in the Rangers you were one of the classiest souls I came across in the ruins of Malton. From your exploits across Yagoton where I believe we first met too your studies at the Quartly you were a bright light of fun always ready with a smile in the harsh landscape of a zed infested city. But I will remember you most as a Malton Ranger, you were there at every battle we fought with a kind word for your comrades on the one hand (and maybe some scotch!) and hot lead for the zeds on the other. During my time leading the Rangers you were always willing to do what you could to help the team in its operations, you were always up for a chat when I wanted to talk something out about our plans, I'm still convinced that if you had accepted my offer to lead the Rangers when my time in this game came to an end that you would have been glorious at it! Do you remember when we walked the halls of Blackmore together old friend? When the Rangers payed tribute to the legendary battle that had once taken place there, that was a glorious time for us, a time past but never forgotten. Rest easy Ranger your battle is done, you were one of the best.--Lord Wulfgar 07:28, 30 August 2013 (BST)
