Republic of Roywood

The Republic of Roywood Project was conceived by two exiled Roywood Survivors during the 2011 March of the Dead. Forced to flee their homes and go into hiding across Malton, Roywood citizens were scattered and isolated.

But then, a dream was born. A dream that perhaps one day they could unite and rally under one banner, one banner to defend their suburb, their friends, their families. To form a community-run democratic country for their own protection, one which is able to do that which all other nation projects in Malton have failed to accomplish: A sovereign state with a defined territory on which it exercises internal and external sovereignty, a stable population, and a truly democratic government.

As of this day, June 1, 2011, two Survivors and proud citizens of Roywood have come together in the best interests of their beloved suburb (May she be forever worthy of her name) which they have fought so hard for against the Zombie invader, to declare Roywood an independent and democratic microstate within Malton. An administration whose power is vested by officials elected by the people, for the people, and forever responsible to the people.

A chief minister and legislative assembly shall be elected to manage the state, and these shall be placed in office by popular vote of the citizens. In accordance with its democratic foundation, the RoR guarantees the right of one man, one vote. All citizens accused of crimes against the state are entitled to trial by jury, and the right to enlist any witnesses for the defense.

A government for Roywood will crack down on PK'ing, Zerging, Death Culting, sabotage, and any forms of generally unacceptable behaviour on the part of all Survivors in the suburb.

Freedom and prosperity are fragile things. They have not been given to all men, and must be received with thanksgiving and protected with vigilance.

Declaration of Independence

Whereas in the course of human affairs history has shown that it may become necessary for a people to resolve the political affiliations which have connected them with another people and to assume amongst other nations the separate and equal status to which they are entitled.

And Whereas in such an event a respect for the opinions of mankind requires them to declare to other nations the causes which impel them to assume full responsibility for their own affairs.

Now therefore, We, the People of Roywood, Do Hereby Declare:

THAT Roywood is in need of a a new order of its citizens to exercise the powers of self-government and become responsible for the progress, development, and welfare of their people;

THAT the people pof Roywood having demonstrated their loyalty to the Survivor cause and to their kith and kin elsewhere in Malton through years of war against the undead, and having been prepared to shed their blood and give of their substance in what they believed to be the mutual interests of freedom-loving people, now recognize the need for their own republic.

THAT the people of Roywood have witnessesed an onslaught which is detstructive of those very precepts upon which civilization in a primitive country has been built, they have seen the principles of Western democracy, responsible government, and moral standards crumble elsewhere, nevertheless they have remained steadfast;

THAT the people of Roywood fully support and recognize the need for sovereign independence.

THAT in the belief that procrastination in this affair and delaying of the inevitable strike at and injure the very life of their suburb, the people of Roywood consider it essential that Roywood should attain, without delay, sovereign independence, the justice of which is beyond question.

NOW, Therefore, We The People of Roywood, in humble submission to any higher power which may control the destinies of nations, conscious that the people of Roywood have always shown unswerving loyalty and devotion to the Survivor cause, and earnestly praying that we will not be hindered in our determination to continue exercising our undoubted right to demonstrate the same loyalty and devotion, and seeking to promote common good so that the dignity and freedom of all men may be assured, Do By This Proclamation, adopt, enact, and give to the people of Roywood the Constitution annexed hereto:

Given under our hand on the first day of June in the Year two thousand and eleven.

Recruitment Policy/Contact

We welcome any Survivor, regardless of diverse ideologies and cultures, which are a reflection of the true spirit of what it means to be a citizen of Roywood, or a friend of Roywood.

Please sign up on the talk page, or contact Tanny Radcliffe at armbrustertrainee.4607@gmail.com if interested. Forums will be coming soon.

Let us remember that this is a new and ambitious project. In order for it to succeed, we must have a growing membership. People of Roywood, let your voice be heard!

Though we claim sovereignty over Roywood, we welcome any Survivor of any group or affiliation in our suburb.

Members

Government

Power shall be shared between a Chief Minister (Who has the power to propose new laws and manage operations of the state) and a Legislative Assembly (Must agree on all laws), which will consist of four democratically elected members.

New elections will be held for the position of Chief Minister every four months on a forum. All citizens will be expected to go there and vote. Any Citizen may be elected, regardless of class or experience. However, they must be nominated by a member of the Legislative Assembly.

Government Departments

The threats multiplied against this suburb since its infancy are primarily militant ones posed by the Zombie outbreak. Therefore, we have recognized the need for a strong Ministry of Defense, of which the chief minister shall be at the head. It shall represent the following:

  • Internal Security Forces--Law Enforcement and defence of major installations; protection of state assets.
  • Citizens' Reserve--Every person who considers themself a proud citizen or friend of the Republic but does not join the security forces will be organized into this category.
  • Recon Commando Division--Classified Activity.
