Awards and Commendations

Purpose and History

In an effort to recognize the time, commitment, contributions, and battle-hardiness of its members, Section 13 has developed a series of awards and commendations, or medals.

These medals are awarded in three categories to signify the different areas of performance, Service, Bravery, and Leadership. In each category medals are given a level of prestige from preliminary to elite class awards, which are given only with the greatest actions and highest praise of fellow S13 members.

Unlike other groups these are not given for the simple act of achieving a new level or learning a skill, but are awarded for singular acts, consistency, or performance in a mission or theater of operations in-game

Description and Use

Medals are divided into three major categories of, Service, Bravery, and Leadership and in each category from lowest to highest level wich are; Preliminary, Subsequent, and Primary. Elite class medals are the Highest that can be awarded, and are connected to the categories only as a guidline.

Prerequisites

Each level of commendation has different prerequisites, wich are listed below.

Preliminary Medals recommendation by any S13 member, or assosiate, approval by a single tribunal member

Subsiquent Medals Recommendation by any S13 member, or assosiate, with cited events, and approval by a Tribunal member

Primary Medals recommendation by Sworn members only, with cited events, or due cause, and approval by two tribunal members.

Elite Class Medals recommendation by Sworn members only, With cited events and defence of due cause. Review and approval by whole of the Tribunal.


For Service

  • Bronze Service Medal (BSM) – Preliminary to the MSM "For oustanding service in the field"
  • Meritous Service Medal (MSM) – Subsequent, description given as - "For upholding S13 procedures, and acheving group objectives with vigilance."
  • Long Service Medal (LSM) - Subsequent "For having served in and completed three tours of duty"
  • Distinghuished Service Cross (DSC) – Primary, description given as - For Auspicious displays of dedication and bravery.

For Bravery

  • Order of Bravery (2OB)– Preliminary, awarded for singular acts of outstanding bravery.
  • First Order of Bravery (1OB)– Subsequent, description needed
  • High Order of Bravery (HOB)– Primary, description needed

For Leadership

  • Act of Distinction (2AD) – Preliminary, description needed "For displays of dedication and composure leading to victory"
  • First Act of Distinction (1AD) – Subsequent, description needed "For consistant displays of dedication and composure leading to victory"
  • Romero Award of Distinction (RAD) – Primary, description given as - "This is awarded for outstanding leadership and dedication to Section 13 and its members, and the preservation of their vitality."

Elite Medals

George Cross (GC) – Preliminary - For Leadership, "For consistant auspicious displays of steadfast and victorious leadership" adorned by the greatest leaders and combat minds of Section 13, this award is given to those with unparalled interest in the success and vitality of Seciton 13 and it's members.

Defenders Cross (DC) – Subsequent - For Bravery, "For only the highest acts of heroism and gallantry, in instances of abandoning personal safety in order to preserve the vitality of others in the face of great danger". Trumped only by the LC, this commendation heralds excelence in both service and bravery.

Loyalists Cross (LC) – Primary - For Service, "Awarded for the highest demonstrations of unflinching loyalty, dedication, and bravery." Regarded historicly as Section 13's single highest commendation, the Loyalists Cross encompasses all three areas of duty. Recipients of the LC may be regarded as the truely elite and valourous men of Section 13.

Long Standing Medals

These medals have been in place since the inseption of Section 13, in the Fall of 2007.

Long Service Medal (LSM)
Awarded after completion of a third tour of duty. Bar is awarded for each T.O.D. afterwards
Meritous Service Medal (MSM)
For upholding S13 procedures, and acheving group objectives with vigilance.
Distingushed Service Cross (DSC)
For Auspicious displays of dedication and bravery.
Loyalist Cross (LC)
Awarded for consistent and outstanding demonstration of unflinching loyalty and dedication.
Romero Award of Distinction (RAD)
This is awarded for outstanding leadership and dedication to Section 13 and its members, and the preservation of their vitality.
Bar
This simple bar worn across the ribbon of a medal shows that the commendation has been awarded multiple times. A fourth bar is awarded by automaticly upgrading to the next level.

Any Section 13 member can recommend the creation or awarding of a medal, with due cause and just explanation to any Tribunal member for consideration and deliberation by the whole of the tribunal.


Honour Hall

Herein are listed members of Section 13 who's sense of duty, and loyalty; along with singular acts and consistent demonstration of valiance, have earned them a place of distinction. These are there names, and the commendations awarded to them. Section 13 members are given the option to publicly display their commendations (adding the medals to their Urban Dead character description)
