Shackleville is a suburb of Malton, located to the south of the city centre. The suburb is named after the prison complex which was located in the South-West area, housing the very worst dregs of Malton's criminals, including the infamous Steven "Cutty" Smith, Andrei "Molotov" Vyborg, and the Red Death gang. A few years before the Outbreak the DEM decommissioned the prison complex and turned it into Police Departments, Fire Stations, a Hospital and a Necrotech Clinic to serve the local area in times of emergency. Rumour has it that several dangerous inmates and their thugs still roam the area from The Willcox Motel, taking out their rage on the undead corpses of those who held them prisoner.

Shackleville has always been an entertainment hotspot, run by the Shadows family it had always been a notorious area for its high Mafia related crime. There was once a thriving club scene including the Good Tastes Mobster Club of Club Cummings, the budget disco Club Goodenough, and the infamous Rave venue, Club Vicarymall of which had supossed ties with the Malton Mob. The suburb also houses one of the most opulent cinemas in Malton, Macaulay Cinema, founded by the parents of a famous child actor, as well as a venue for art-house and foreign films, the Maybe? Cinema. The southern half of the suburb is now almost always protected or being reclaimed, under the vigilant eye of the mysterious Fortress, who arrived after the fiasco at Pitman Mansion.

In fall 2008, the Malton Zookeepers set up a new attraction, a Petting Zoo, in the Horsey Museum.

Revive Point

Revives are currently being performed at Swaffield Plaza [55,67]; would-be revivees are asked to post requests to the DEM's revive request manager.

Revives are also being handled at the cemetery [57-69]. Survivors are asked not to shoot zombies at this point, and also to respect the Sacred Ground Policy.

Talon Company's revive point at the Stanbury Monument is open to the public. Be advised that revive time may fluctuate in relation to the Raymond Building's Condition.

Several members of the Malton Zookeepers also frequently use Hickey Square as a revive point. Revive requests should be posted on their boards.

25.96 MHz: "... can see maybe fifty on the streets of Shackleville ... mostly just stragglers, no organised groups ... a few buildings with lights on ... most of the buildings are ruined ... the Raymond Building is in bad shape ..." --Ryan Rocksmith 14:53, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

The same report was repeated two hours after the first. Also, the suburb is now qualified as a ghost town. -- Kittithaj 19:30, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Barricade Plan

top

The Shackleville Barricade Plan has its own page.

The center of the suburb, consisting of the area containing pretty much all the TRPs (Swithun, Raymond and Luckwell) are kept at EHB++ by pretty much all groups in the area. Clarkson Lane Fire Station is the commonly accepted entry point, kept at VSB++, providing direct access to the NT, police station and Dempsey Lane Fire Station, Swithun and Harkness Auto Repair are just one step further, giving all commonly needed resources safely with just one entry point. On a similar note, the Free Running corridor to Woodroffe Mall in the east is also kept at high barricade levels.

The reason for this is that Shackleville is relatively limited in resources (1 hospital, 1 NT), but on the outskirts of Greater Ridleybank, and thus home to frequent Zombie invasions. Low-level survivors would simply be better off traveling south to Kempsterbank, with its staggering six hospitals.

The Shackleville Barricade Plan was originaly created and proposed by Capt. Brian McStay of MFD using the Uniform Barricading Policy, recommendations of the Malton Fire Department and comments from the community in June of 2006. All survivors are urged to assist the MFD and its allies in ensuring that barricades remain at designated levels. Do not overbarricade! The life you save may be your own.

The Barricade plan was updated to better reflect common practices in the suburb by Grungni 11:09, 16 October 2009 (BST)
