Who are the Sisters of Battle?

Alabelsm.jpg Power of Sisterhood
The Sisters of Battle are, like Hel's Daughters, an all-women group that along with the 40k roleplaying elements believe that there should be more female characters in Malton. After all, the Sisters kick as much ass as the Space Marines!

We are the Daughters of the Emperor, young girls left as orphans on the doorsteps of the churches and monasteries of the Ecclesiarchy who are raised and trained in the Holy Light of His Church. As no man in the Ecclesiarchy may bear arms or serve in a fighting force as due to the Decree Passive, these young girls are trained from childhood in the arts of war to serve as the fighting arm of the Ecclesiarchy and given the best weapons and equipment the Ecclesiarchy can acquire, including power armor and bolters. These ferocious women bring the Light of the Emperor to dark places dank with Heresy and Chaos purging the evil that lies within. We serve as elite, precise strike teams coordinating our actions through IRC in real-time to have maximum impact out of proportion to our limited numbers and have a high degree of participation compared to other agencies.

History

Origins

The Adeptus Sororitas has its origins on the world of San Leor. An order known as the Daughters of the Emperor, an all-female cult dedicated to worship of the Emperor, had been discovered there by members of the Ecclesiarchy. Goge Vandire, the High Lord of the Administratum (and also Ecclesiarch of the Adeptus Ministorum), decided to pay a visit to San Leor and recruit the Daughters into his own private army. The Daughters, at first, refused to accept his authority. Vandire decided to show them that he was blessed by the Emperor - he instructed a soldier in his entourage to shoot him, which after a brief hesitation, he did. However, thanks to the protective field generated by the Rosarius of the Ecclesiarch (which no one but Vandire himself was aware of), Vandire was not harmed. The Daughters took this to be a sign, and swore allegiance to Vandire virtually on the spot. They became the Brides of the Emperor, and were Vandire's most loyal followers.

During the Siege of the Ecclesiarchal Palace, the Adeptus Custodes, the praetorians of the Emperor himself, tried to approach the Brides and convince them of Vandire's treachery. In a last ditch effort to convince them, the Custodes took Alicia Dominica, leader of the Brides, and her chosen bodyguards deep into the Imperial Palace where they stood before the Emperor himself. What happened there remains unknown - Dominica and her companions were sworn to secrecy - but it became clear that the Brides, who reverted to the title of Daughters of the Emperor, had been awakened to the evil that Vandire represented. Marching into his audience chamber, Dominica paused only to condemn Vandire for his crimes before she beheaded the power-crazed dictator. Reportedly, Vandire's final words were "I don't have time to die - I'm too busy!"

Founding

After this episode, the Decree Passive was proclaimed by newly appointed Ecclesiarch Sebastian Thor. Under the literal interpretation of the decree however, the Adeptus Sororitas were not obligated to disband because the decree made no mention of "women under arms." Thor, recognizing the need for the Ecclesiarchy to have some kind of force and internal regulator, allowed them to remain, even if the spirit of the decree was rather blatantly disregarded.

When Thor first took over, there were only 4,000 Daughters of the Emperor, but this quickly expanded to over 10,000 after the Adeptus Sororitas (Sisters of Battle) was founded. It was his successor, Alexis the XII, who divided the Sisters into two home worlds and four Orders Militant lead by Alicia Dominica and three of her companions who wanted to lead their sisters into battle. The last two major Orders Militant were created two and a half Millennia later in honor of the last of Alicia Dominica's companions. Their Orders were later expanded to hold more than 15,000 Sisters, but their current standing places each Order with no more than 7,000 members.

Present Day

Today, the Sisters of Battle are spread across the galaxy in their various conflicts. However, two locations (Terra and Ophelia VII) are held as more sacred than all others and are home to most of the Orders' convents. Ophelia VII is the Oldest Cardinal World and home of the Synod Ministra. As Terra is covered with administrative buildings, Ophelia VII is covered with Cathederals and places of worship. Beneath these buildings are vast prisons that hold heretics ready to confess and repent for their sins.

Nemesis

While the Sisters crusade with everlasting and unending zeal against all heresy and works of the Ruinous Powers, there is a horde of mutant scum within Malton that has caught their baleful and unflinching gaze: the Hel's Daughters. An all-female horde of mutants, the Sisters have declared an unending Crusade against the Daughters to purge their blight from Malton with extreme prejudice.

All Orders of the Sisters of Battle within Hive Malton serve as the rapid reaction force of the Imperium of Man, both bolstering defenses in threatened suburbs and acting as our first wave in any attacks against enemies of the Imperium of Man. Sisters may be deployed anywhere within Hive Malton so long as it is in furthering the interests of the Imperium of Man and Allies of the Imperium.

Founding of New Orders

As per Command Order #1 the founding of new Orders in Hive Malton has been changed to work as follows:

New Chapters and Orders can be founded as separate groupings of Marines and Sisters if there are at least five who are willing to do so. Said Chapters and Orders until they hit 25 do not get representation on Imperial Command but are seconded to another Chapter or Order who does, presently that would only be the Wolf Lord Ulfgard. Once they hit 25, which is enough for five minimum strength squads, then they receive their own representation on Command, and while this may seem like a potential security matter it would take a considerable amount of time and effort to get together that many people under one Chapter and as such should both be rewarded and encouraged with that. That said, the Marines and the Sisters collectively would still both only have one vote in Command matters, so all the Marine Chapters would get only one vote and same with the Sister Orders.

That said, aside from needing at least five to found a new Order or Chapter, this will require approval from Command to do and there must be aside from the needed five, one of whom must serve as a Chaplain or Palantine as the case may be, there can only be one Chapter and one Order founded each month. This gives time for the new Chapters and Orders to grow after founding and prevents the possibility of 10 Orders and Chapters of 5 members each diluting their effectiveness.

Organization

The Sisters of Battle are organized into Orders each with their own traditions, practices, and history within Hive Malton. Each Order has its own recruitment and training practices and policies.

All Orders mark their membership with the following template:

and individual Sororitas with the following template:

There are six militant Orders of Sisters in the Imperium who are known by distinctive badges, colors, and follow the same organizational structure. Founding of new Orders is subject to approval by Imperial Command dependent on strength of existing Orders and the needs of the Imperium

Order

The largest force of the Sisters of Battle, the Six Orders of the Adeptus Sororitas are of indeterminate size although known to be quite large.

Preceptory

A more manageable formation within the Sisters' Orders, a Preceptory consists of a thousand armed Sororitas not unlike the Space Marines in size, led by a Canoness Preceptor.

Commandery

A smaller battlefield detachment equivalent to a company of a similar organization, these consist of up to 200 Sisters and are the most likely in terms of size of detachments as the largest to be deployed to Hive Malton. A Commandery is commanded by a Canoness Commander.

Mission

An even smaller detachment consisting of a handful of squads of Sisters led by a Canoness, there is no specific size for how many squads form a Mission but it serves as a more flexible detachment of a Commandery when needed.

Squad

A force of five to ten Sisters led by a Sister Superior, this is the smallest organization within an Order of the Sisters of Battle.

Registry

The following is the list of active Sisters of Battle Orders in Hive Malton who are currently active, their commanding officer, their general location as much as security will permit and if they are seeking recruits.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

All new Sisters are being attached to the Space Marine Chapter most relevant to their time zone until such a time as enough Sisters can exist independently to form their own Order.
