St. Ethelbert's Hospital is one of two hospitals in the suburb of Roftwood and borders on Pimbank. It is located at [66,50] (North Central) and is a core resource building in the Survivor Security Zone. The hospital is open to all survivors
This hospital can be seen straight down from Barry Row as a fire-damaged red-brick building surrounded by a large paved plaza. The staff of St. Ethelbert's Hospital knew about the zombie infestation long before many other Hospitals did, hence its lobby is covered with quarantine posters. The hospital can be found at the top edge of Roftwood, in the middle, bordering on the suburb of Pimbank. The co-ordinates are [66, 50] and the building is an Entry Point maintained at VSB+2, unless there is an outstanding siege which is kept at EHB+.
The Roftwood Barricade Plan states this hospital is to be maintained at VSB+2. Please keep the barricades at this level and no higher to allow lower level players access to the medical care and equipment that can be found inside.
During times of zombie siege, the barricades will be temporarily raised to full EHB to protect the hospital and the people inside. Once the danger has passed, barricades are lowered back to VSB+2 as soon as possible. Announcements about the change in barricade status are made on the main Roftwood suburb page.
St. Ethelbert's Hospital is an important Hospital for Roftwood and Pimbank and is looked after by several groups in the local area as well as having its own team of full-time, dedicated staff. It is therefore virtually guaranteed to be maintained and powered, with a good number of survivors inside as well as Hospital staff with the requisite medical skills.
Please see the main Roftwood news for any major changes in the Hospital Status.
Here is a list of available Hospital facilities and treatments, please note that it does depend on the current Hospital status (it is difficult to serve patients when the staff themselves are (un)dead).
St. Ethelbert's Hospital is quite close to the suburb of Ridleybank and so can suffer occasional attacks from the horde, particularly as the barricades are only meant to be kept at VSB+2. This Hospital is very important as it is the closest Hospital for many residents of neighbouring Pimbank, who have no health care facilities of their own. This Hospital must be maintained to keep the residents of both suburbs healthy.
Should the Hospital fall, survivors can escape to the several safe-houses that can be found either side of the Hospital, only a few AP away.
Note: During periods of heavy zombie activity or siege, some VSB+2 buildings are likely to be raised to EHB also (if they have not already been ransacked) however this Hospital must remain at VSB+2.
See the area surrounding St. Ethelbert's Hospital on both the Roftwood and Pimbank sides on this page, the Hospital is in the bottom right quadrant.
Another good source of information on the suburb's status may sometimes be found at the Building Information Center for Roftwood.

Health and Safety
This Hospital operates to the following set of health and safety standards set by the Malton Hospitals Group:
- Try to keep this Hospital powered and fueled at all times.
- Keep this Hospital Zombie-free, they tend to eat the patients.
- Repair barricade damage when possible and maintain at VSB+2.
- Keep at least one doctor in this Hospital.
- Nobody is low priority. We're all in this together; the Level-1 starter you save today could be the one to headshot the Zombie chewing on your arm a few months later.
- If there are staff to spare, make local ambulance runs to support survivors outside the Hospital.
- Keep a radio inside the building, and please transmit on the local frequency, 26.03 MHz.
Healing in times of Siege
In times of heavy siege, first aid kits can become scarce and so this is the order for healing patients, should things begin to look dire. Please adhere to this plan:
- Heal those infected by zombie bites first
- Heal active players (especially if they have just killed a Zombie)
- Heal those with less than 25HP so they are not targeted as "wounded" by zombies
- Heal those with less than 13HP so they cannot be dragged out into the street should the barricades come crashing down.
Staff are expected to heal and fight until they have only a few reserve AP for escape to nearby safe-houses.
Visitors and patients who are known to be Player Killers, Generator Killers or Radio Killers will be warned and closely monitored. Hospital staff are at liberty to insist such people leave should they begin causing trouble (by taunting or attacking). Failing this, physical removal will occur. Please be assured this is only if there is trouble. Those with KOS bounty status will be killed on sight.
The Hospital staff have the right to work in a safe, zombie free environment without the fear of humans turning against them too. This Hospital policy will be enforced.
August 30th Eight zombies from the Ridleybank Resistance Front horde laid waste to St. Ethelbert's Hospital around lunchtime today. Defending Malton Medical Staff and Roftwood Elite survivors were all slain in timely X:00 fashion by the undead forces. --ZombGG (talk) 20:38, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
December 5th St. Ethelbert's Hospital has withstood the night following an all day battle yesterday between local Malton Medical Staff and Roftwood Coordination Center forces teamed up against The Scourge zombie horde. Action at the hospital is still heavy. Barricades are being bashed regularly and infectious bites are frequent. For the duration of the siege barricades are advised to be stacked high, no less than EHB --ZombGG (talk) 17:27, 5 December 2019 (UTC)
