Such irony in its name in this day of age. Not even the innocent can find permanent refuge.

Description

St Innocent's Church is a narrow red-brick building with a fountain at its entrance.

History

A small church. Not too extravagant. But just right, for sacrifice to the dark gods!

With 6 churches in Reganbank, this once-vibrant church community looks to God and asks: "What have we done wrong?" The history of St Innocent's has been a long and peculiar one.

It was initially built with funds raised from the poorest levels of the community. They wanted a place where they could call their own. Only their own. It had an original philosophy of exclusion, with heavy cult behavior. Its small congregation grew considerably in its early days with the entering of Father Kilpatrick.

Kilpatrick and his followers developed a strict set of rules that governed the follower's day to day life and activities. It became all-encompassing.

Controversy at the church- In late August of 1989, Father Kilpatrick and his followers successfully organized mass suicide. What sparked this horrific act was unknown but the walls of the church had painted in blood, "the end is near." The rotting corpse's of Father Kilpatrick and his followers was not discovered until sometime later by the clergy of the neighboring St. Vladimir's Church. Thought cursed, the church has a considerable amount of difficulty in rebuilding itself and sustaining a following.

A New Religion After a few years of the Church lying empty, scouts for The Brotherhood Of Dagon located this church, its history and name amused the high priest fathers. So The Cult moved in, passers by get a cold shiver when they hear the deep chantings: a loud croaking and unidentifiable slopping sounds, coming from the church's interior. The church seems to always be surrounded by a fog and nowadays the sky above Reganbank seems to be overcast or raining, a smell of the ocean and rotting fish seems to emit from the church. Many people have gone into the church to complain about this smell, none have ever returned. But the surviving local populace swear they have heard the ocean inside the once peaceful-looking church, and the screams of human sacrifices. The new owner's leaders never seem to be able to be contacted, but the people who do answer the call for law enforcement are ugly, pasty and foul-mannered. They have large, staring eyes and normal people get a horrible uneasy feeling being around these people. The Brotherhood's cultists prey on the zombies of Reganbank with a perverse glee, enjoying the slaughter. The robe-wearing cultists seem to be inflicted with a strange skin condition: this has been attributed to the smell emitting from the cultists and the church.

Abandoned After being driven to frustration the Brotherhood left the church and headed for Shenton museum in Crooketon. The Church was left heavily barricaded with no survivors inside, the generator running out of power.

The Drunken Scout After the Brotherhood left the church it remained abandoned for a long time, but zombies did not attack the church, leaving it alone and heavily barricaded. One zombie came upon the church one day. The zombie was revived by a stranger, and climbed into the church, seeking refuge from the hordes outside. The man made the church his own, and spread the word around Reganbank that it was a safehouse open to any and all needing shelter. When they asked his name, he simply replied, "I'm just an old drunk military scout." And so, with the 'Drunken Scout,' the Church has entered a new age... of peace.

Current Status

3/23/11 - The Church was fully barricaded when I found it. I used a fuel can I had in my pack to turn the power back on, and began running around the district calling survivors to the Church for safety. The Church is safe, but it's lonely here. -The Drunken Scout

17/17- Fully Barricaded, none but the most bravest would want to enter the church now.
