Some time ago Dionysius's Church in Southern Malton was set up as a refuge for the weak and hungry. The pews were used as fire wood and the stained glass barricaded over. As the months passed the occupants found they were in a comparatively quiet neighborhood and with supplies from the local mall they built an oasis, a refuge from the storm.

With a regular fire going, the local rodent problem became a source of substance and at the grill a tradition of story telling grew. Sitting around the fire and sharing the communion wine, the new faces could tell of their experiences and gave their knowledge in exchange for a hot meal and place to sleep. The spirit of Dionysus, Greek god of wine and theatre, was evoked and protected them.

There are two other churches devoted to St Dionysius in the city and those who grew fit and strong in the safety of the original extended it's protection to these locations.

Some years later and few still live to fight on under this banner but at least the Vicar still tends his flock at the Original and Best St D's. Where only the smile is infectious!

The Vicar of St D's is a stubborn old goat and says he was here before the Barricade policy and his Bar is not a doorway to some shopping mall.

We welcome you to stay and tell us what you have seen. Visit the original St D's when in Wyke Hills! Or check out our Roachtown franchise and Greentown location, if you want to open your own branch.

Try the fried rat! Don't forget to tip your waitress! Please don't eat the clown!
