20070505 AP Monitor/Timer

WraithR249 at 05:32, 5 May 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type

Affects settings, options, heads up display, or any combination of the above.

Suggestion scope

Applies to all players within the game.

Suggestion description

I would like to suggest the implementation of some kind of small system settings display or heads up display that shows some variation of how much time is remaining until the next AP is gained. This can come in forms that are as exact as minutes:seconds remaining, the exact time that the system clock will read when you gain your next AP, how many minutes after each hour you will gain your next AP, etc. If the user is maxed out, then obviously the AP won't charge and the timer instead can show when the last AP was gained/ the time at which or how long ago the user maxed out AP.

This will assist both zombie and survivor groups to coordinate their efforts in a very refined matter, down to the last AP if necessary. Also, if beings in the UrbanDead realm are able to calculate and visibly monitor how many actions they can perform before coming exhausted, it would not be completely unreasonable to be able to predict exactly how long you will need to sleep before being ready to go.

Apologies if suggestion is posted incorrectly, feel free to correct and list how to do it properly.

Keep Votes
  1. Keep - Will save people from having to refresh to find out if they can limp to safety (fixed up your mistake, you've got to cut and past that to this page, not edit the template page, next time) -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 12:08, 5 May 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep Could mean life or death to everyone. Not just survivors.--Seventythree 13:56, 5 May 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep - UI improvement. There's been a few times when I've run out of AP in a dangerous location and kept refreshing the page to see if the next AP had arrived. This would smooth that out. --Toejam 14:05, 5 May 2007 (BST)
  4. as boxy --Duke GarlandLCD 14:17, 5 May 2007 (BST)
  5. Keep - Definitely a good idea, this isn't really metagaming, it's just necessary. What's more, this would keep people from refreshing so much. --Rasi 09:34, 5 May 2007 (EST)
  6. Keep - Like it. The Hierophant. 15:12, 05 May 2007.

  7. Keep - This would be quite helpful. --ZombieSlay3rSig.pngT 01:09, 6 May 2007 (BST)
  8. Keep Useful to everybody and nobody likes counting the minutes/hours on a clock. --JudeMaverick 13:14, 13 May 2007 (BST)
Kill Votes
  1. Kill - Because I dislike metagaming to the level of coordinating every AP, including those not even gained yet. - BzAli 13:14, 5 May 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - We already have this. It's called a clock. AP is regained at a rate of one every half hour; hence, when your clock reads XX:12:42 you know that you have 17 minutes and 18 seconds until you get another AP. Don't be lazy. --Saluton 16:29, 5 May 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - The problem this addresses originates between the chair and the keyboard. It's really easy to tell from a normal clock; you get a new AP at HH:00 and HH:30, give or take clock error and server lag. Either don't accidentally run out of APs, or make plans that aren't ruined if you do. Either way, better planning on the player side, not more work on the server side, is the answer. --Seb_Wiers VeM 16:44, 5 May 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill - As above. --Sonofagun18 05:36, 6 May 2007 (BST)
