20070526 Link to Dead Players

Suggestion description
Just a little thing I noticed:

Whenever a Zombie Player is killed by somebody, it will show: X Killed a Zombie. What I propose is that this text includes a link to the dead Zombies profile. It's just a little change, but it will help decide if there's an actual seige in progress or someone has just died from an Infection...

Keep Votes

  1. Keep/Change - I don't see any harm in this suggestion: It should be very easy to implement and would not cause spam. That said, I would prefer to see it applied to humans who have been killed. I'm currently involved in a mall siege with an alt and just saw a character kill another, accusing him of being RRF. He's probably telling the truth, but it would be nice to check the victim's profile in order to see whether he is, or is just another PKer trying to cover his arse. --The Hierophant 15:18, 26 May 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep I like it. However, it would be nice if I could see the profiles of killed humans too.--Secruss 16:33, 26 May 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep Same as the above poster. -- Mordac the Refuser 03:28, 27 May 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep - Agreed. - BzAli 23:13, 28 May 2007 (BST)
  5. Keep - Honestly, the whole concept of zombie anonymity doesn't make sense to begin with. They're a zombie, not a racoon or something. All the physical features human beings use to identify one another still exist. Hence, zombies should be identifiable just like anyone else. If a zombie is going to attack someone, they shouldn't be able to use zombie anonymity as a shield. --Reaper with no name TJ! 23:36, 28 May 2007 (BST)
    Keep - As above. APerson'sPerson Unsigned -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 02:54, 1 June 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - Pretty useless. I don't like seeing people's profiles who I killed. --JudeMaverick W! TJ! Talk Zzz... P! 11:49, 26 May 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - Currently you only EVER see a link to a zombies profile if you either scan the zombie with a DNA scanner, or if the zombie attacks you, or of the zombie speaks or gestures, or if you have the zombie in your contact list. It was not always this way- you used to get links to the profiles of zombies you attacked, for example. I'm pretty sure the current system is an intentional measure- zombies enjoy the advantage of being somewhat hard to trace, partly to make up for a lack of communication and free movement. Indeed, the only good reason to see what zombie somebody killed would be so you can later grief that zombie, or to punish the killer for whacking a person you wanted to revive. Neither is fits the genre; people are supposed to kill any and all zombies, and zombies are supposed to be part of a "faceless horde".
On another note, its already quite obvious when somebody dies of infection; there is a note in your action report saying "SoAndSo died from infection." --Seb_Wiers VeM 20:49, 26 May 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - As Seb_Wiers. --Uncle Bill 04:37, 27 May 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill - I agree with Seb_Wiers. --Kunlock 07:08, 27 May 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill As Seb Weirs. Sorry.--Seventythree 11:05, 27 May 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill - there enough ways to gain a zombies link. lets not add more.--Vista +1 15:04, 27 May 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill - Seb kinda screwed any chance at an original kill comment didn't he? I agree with everything he said.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 16:18, 27 May 2007 (BST)
  8. Kill - Yeah, Seb Wiers kinda nailed this one. --Rgon 19:56, 30 May 2007 (BST)
  9. Kill - I agree with Seb_Wiers --Nikitis 13:08, 31 May 2007 (BST)
  10. As those above. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 13:29, 31 May 2007 (BST)
  11. Kill - Swiers isn't old enough in this game to know that the feature of the game he tries to explain so well was known to everyone as "zombie annonimity", and taken as a granted and sacred thing. It was nerfed a bit by the changes to DNA extractors, but this one would be an unjustified nerf. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 00:42, 2 June 2007 (BST)
  12. Kill - This idea is pointless. Who cares what the name of a killed zombie is. --Sonofagun18 11:18, 2 June 2007 (BST)
  13. Kill - Almost voted keep until we read Seb Weirs comments, and that changed our minds --Crabappleslegalteam 01:18, 5 June 2007 (BST)
  14. Kill - Zombie anonymity might not make the most sense but neither do being able to recognize people you have never seen before or to know if they are alive or dead halfway across the city, both are doable through the contact list and are of huge benefit to survivors. Zombie anonymity is probably one of the biggest boons zombies have in a game where they waste more time to do less. Zombies get two things you don't mess with, the ability to stand up after killed at full health and the ability to disappear in large groups. Both are important because they cause survivors to waste AP and because zombies are at such a massive ap disadvantage without both of those things together due to things like headshot and barricades zombie anonymity matters. If this suggestion went through it would be easier to catalog the zombies in the area and easier to target the low level ones for reviving/killing thus screwing new players and the horde as a whole. And anyway, if they are killing a zombie what do you care which zombie they are killing, it's a zombie. All this would do beyond screw up zombies more is make something considered horribly wasteful semiuseable. I kill for the sake of zombie anonymity.--karek 14:44, 6 June 2007 (BST)
  15. Kill - You don't get links to survivor profiles when they are killed, even though you get the name. Why should zombies lose their anonymity before the harmanz do? armareum 09:39, 8 June 2007 (BST)
  16. Kill - Hell no. Reasons why have already been stated. Any further comments by me would be redundant, and laced with copious amounts of profanity. - CthulhuFhtagn 01:59, 11 June 2007 (BST)
