Suggestion scope
Survivors, especialy low level ones.
Suggestion description
Ok, So in the entire city there are only shops inside malls, odd huh? Here is my Idea for you wonderfull people, you.
10% of residential and office block towers have a shop on the ground floor. Similar to the shops in malls, these would provide certain items. The shop would be one of these.
- Newsagents (newspapers, wine, beer, book)
- Camping supplies store (swiss army knives, binoculars, flaregun)
- Hardware Store (Axe, Crowbar, wirecutter)
- Off Licence, (liqour store if you're American) (wine, Beer)
- Mobile phone shop (mobile phones, duh.)
- Bookshop (Poetry book, book)
If you have neither shopping skill or bargin hunting then you are only told you are standing in XXXX towers, there is a shop on the ground floor Or you are standing outside XXX towers. There is a shop on the ground floor. From here it is impossible to tell what it sold There is only a 1% chance you will get anything from the shop.
If you have shopping you will get the message You are standing in XXXX towers. There is a newsagents on the ground floor. Or You are standing outside XXXX towers. There is a newsagents on the ground floor You can then get the option to search the shop, as in the mall.
If you have bargin hunting you get half the bonus to searching the shop as you would get with bargin hunting if you where in a mall.
Please bear in mind that you would have less chance of finding items in these shops as you would have in the mall shops. Essentialy this is meant to provide a 'helping hand' to new characters, provide a bit of flavour and reduce mall camping. Thanks to Seb Weirs for his invaluble help in talk page. .

- Keep - Reduce mall camping? You got me there man. A dǝǝɥs oʇ ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 23:37, 4 June 2007 (BST)
- Keep - This is rather clever and may actually get some people away from the Malls...which is a good thing. Theres a whole city out there people, not just one bleeding building type. -- Cheeseman W!ASBTalk 23:38, 4 June 2007 (BST)
- Keep - None of those shops is really a tactical resource point, so hell, why not? It could be more than 10%. Or maybe there could also be clothing shops outside the malls - ones that sell specialty goods like "a high fashion skirt" or "white go-go boots" or "a black leather biker jacket". Cause lets face it, the mall clothing shops... have crap that looks like it came from a mall. --Seb_Wiers Imagine 00:00, 5 June 2007 (BST)
- Keepify - It's allll good; Reduces Mall traffic, and adds some extra fun... --Charley C. 00:56, 5 June 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Looks like a good idea. --Nikitis 02:44, 5 June 2007 (BST)
- Keep - One of the best suggestions I've heard in a while. Adds, flavour, another place to search and adds use for office buildings (other than a place to stay in). -- AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 02:45, 5 June 2007 (BST)
- Strong Keep - I like how the things they can find include helpful newbie items. There is also a lack of ultra tactical items that make or break a siege. --Uncle Bill 03:29, 5 June 2007 (BST)
- Keepification I like it. I like it a lot. Gets people out of my malls. SgtBop 05:46, 5 June 2007 (BST)
- Keep - ok, although in times of zombie invading the city everything that is on a ground floor will be most certainly marauded, you know... --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 07:10, 5 June 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Of course, it is fairly logical, although I've yet to see a camping supply store on the bottom floor of an office building. Not to complicate things, but maybe some of the text could indicate that the store is in an adjacent suite or something.Grim Rictus 09:49, 5 June 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Maybe increase the search percentages, but other than that it's okay. --Lord of the Pies 12:46, 5 June 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Very good idea. How about adding a pharmacy with FAKS? - BzAli 13:24, 5 June 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Sweet, those malls are a pain to get into with the overbarricading and ransacking. --Ktut 14:03, 5 June 2007 (BST)
- You have earned your Keep - Good and Realistic idea. --Murhapuro 14:08, 5 June 2007 (BST)

- Keep IT!! - Consumer Lowbies can't even get to the mall (until MUCH later on) so at least they'll have an immediate use for their skill -- SBC 18:52, 5 June 2007 (BST)
- Keep -mheh, flavor.-- Vista +1 20:21, 5 June 2007 (BST)
- StrongKeep Great Idea for people who are still learning how to play the game and also would eliminate going from mall to mall to mall again and again CaptainSparrow 22:28, 5 June 2007 (BST)
- Keep - I like it and I can only hope the building I usually stay in would get one. And also for aesthetics I'd rather have lobby shop or newsstand instead of newsagent, which I assume is British for newsstand. JD 01:14, 6 June 2007 (BST)
- RE Well, a newsagent is a little different I think, from the newstand. A newstand is more like a kiosk i beleive, whereas a newsagent's is a proper, enclosed shop that sells mostly magazines, newspapers and ciggaretts, but also sometimes childrens sweets and alcohol.--Seventythree 14:41, 9 June 2007 (BST)
- Keep Nice for flavor. --Secruss 02:17, 6 June 2007 (BST)
- Keep Nice idea, won't have a big effect on gameplay. I like it. --DonTickles 22:31, 6 June 2007 (BST)
- Keep - CNR carefully the suggestion. It's a tinny adition, so keep. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC☺T☺+1 03:27, 10 June 2007 (BST)
- Keep - No more depending on malls! --JudeMaverick W! TJ! Talk Zzz... P! Nuts! 10:50, 14 June 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Nice flavour. --Anotherpongo 18:00, 15 June 2007 (BST)
- Keep On Wheels - You just need to add a few more essential items in there.... such as maybe a shotgun in the camping supplies. :) --Bruce Torbaron 02:00, 20 June 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Good suggestion. --User:Axe27/Sig 02:04, 20 June 2007 (BST)
Kill Votes
- Kill - Not interested. Using a mall requires more forethought. --Poodle of doom 23:50, 4 June 2007 (BST)
- RE I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean by using a mall requiring more forethought? Would you care to expand on that in the talk section?--Seventythree 23:55, 4 June 2007 (BST)
- Kill - all those things are already available outside the mall anyway -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 02:07, 5 June 2007 (BST)
- RE Yes, these items are outside malls, however with most Resource buildings either overbarricaded or ransacked this allows starting characters a better shot at getting usefull equipment im buildings not usualy barricaded as much.--Seventythree 07:47, 5 June 2007 (BST)
- Above. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 05:15, 5 June 2007 (BST)
- Kill - I can go with a news stand or a bookstore but, why in the world would there be a hardware store or a camping supply store at the bottom of an office building? --Sonofagun18 07:16, 7 June 2007 (BST)
- Kill - It doesn't make sense for there to be a Camping Supplies Store, a Hardware Store or Mobile Phone Shop at the bottom of a residential or office block. Which completely nerfs your idea, since there are no useful items left. Even leave the Mobile Phone Shop in would only give the mobile phone - nearly useless anyway, and completely useless to a newbie. This is absolutely no alternative to Malls. And as flavour this adds nothing. I can see you put some effort in, I just think it's a poor idea. armareum 15:16, 8 June 2007 (BST)
- RE: What about the small, 'mom and pop' stores of the same kind you find in dense urban areas? I know in Montreal, you can even find gun stores under apartments - and Canada is, by and large, not a gun-crazy country. Even Montreal. --Darwinson 07:01, 17 June 2007 (BST)
