Suggestion description
Okay, I was looking through some of the useless melee weapons, and I kept trying to find a real use for them. I was looking at the Baseball Bat, and then it hit me:

Baseballs!

I went through every sports weapon, and made ammo for it accordingly. Since there's only so much you can do with accuracy, encumbrance, and damage. So I decided to add in some more factors to separate them so they're not overpowered(and thus game breaking) and they're not underpowered(and therefore useless). Plus, even some are a bit underpowered, the flavor it nice. Any search percentages are up to question. The mechanics of how the ammo works is that you must require the weapon, the ammo, and the skill to use the ammo. The bags are just for ease of carrying, you can still have the ammo by itself. If you attack, any loaded bags have their ammo used first, but a bag is not required to use ammo.

One thing you need to remember on the average damage is that you still have to search for the ammo, so it's not as clear cut as it looks.

Baseball Bats: The corresponding items and skills.

The skill: Bought as a stand alone civilian skill. Bat accuracy increases by 15%. Can now hit Baseballs at 4 damage with 35% accuracy.
The items:
Baseballs: 2% encumbrance. No added effects. Found at Schools and Mall Sports Stores at 12% and 8% respectively.
Baseball Bag: 10% encumbrance. Holds 8 Baseballs. Clicking on the bag will load up to 2 Baseballs into it. If it cannot, it will just load up 1. Found at Schools and Mall Sports Stores 10% and 6% respectively.

Golf Clubs: The corresponding items and skills.

The skill: Bought as a stand alone civilian skill. Club accuracy increases by 15% Can now hit Golf Balls at 3 damage with accuracy varying from 20%-60%.
The items:
Golf Balls: 2% encumbrance. The effect is that if there are multiple zombies in the area, a random zombie is chosen out of the stack each time you attack. The accuracy also changes depending on how many zeds are there. If 1-5 zeds are present, accuracy is 20%. If it's 6-15, accuracy is 30% 16-40 is 40%. 41-80 means it's at 50% accuracy. Lastly, 81+ is 60% accuracy. Found at Mall Sports Stores at 10%.
Golf Ball Bag: 10% encumbrance. Holds 20 Golf Balls. Clicking on the bag will load 5 Golf Balls into it. If it cannot, then it loads as many as possible. Found in Mall Sports Stores at 8%.
Added Notes: The accuracy may seem high, but the chances to hit a zed multiple times and kill it are low. 40% accuracy at 3 damage is like a randomizing Fire Axe with 16 people in the room. 50% accuracy is like a randomizing max zed claws without Tangling Grasp, and 41 people in the room. 60% is like a randomizing max zed claws WITH Tangling Grasp, and 81 people in the room. So this is far from overpowered.

Hockey Sticks: The corresponding items and skills.

The skill: Bought as a stand alone civilian skill. Hockey Stick accuracy increases by 10%. Can now hit Hockey Pucks at 3 damage with 40% accuracy.
The items:
Hockey Pucks: 2% encumbrance. The effect is that if there are multiple zombies in the area, there is a 30% chance it will bounce off the first zombie and hit the next one for 2 damage. Found at Schools and Mall Sports Stores at 6% and 8% respectively.
Hockey Puck Bag: 10% encumbrance. Holds 6 Hockey Pucks. Clicking on a Hockey Puck Bag will load 2 Pucks into the bag. If it cannot, it will just load 1. Found at Schools and Mall Sports Stores at 4% and 6% respectively.

Tennis Rackets: The corresponding items and skills.

The skill: Bought as a stand alone civilian skill. Tennis Racket accuracy increases by 15%. Can now hit Tennis Balls at 2 damage with 60% accuracy.
The items:
Tennis Ball: 2% encumbrance. No added effects. Found at Schools and Mall Sports Stores at 7% and 8% respectively.
Tennis Ball Bag: 10% encumbrance. Holds 10 Tennis Balls. Clicking on it will load up to 3 Tennis Balls into the bag. If it cannot load that many, it will load as many as possible. Found at Schools and Mall Sports Stores at 5% and 6% respectively.

Final Notes: Even if you vote kill, please tell me how I can change this. I really like the idea and think it has some merit. I didn't do the Cricket Bat because I am unfamilier with Cricket and don't really know how it works. You can leave comments on my talk page.

Kill Votes

  1. Killl Being a fan of ice-hockey, I'd definately vote on this if you put it in humerous.--Seventythree 13:21, 15 June 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - This one seems on it's way to spamnation, so I'd just add my kill before it's to late. - BzAli 11:04, 16 June 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - WTF? Who hits a baseball at someone, when they can just whack them over the head with the bat? Accuracy would be, like, 5% unless you were a pro athlete anyway -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 04:13, 15 June 2007 (BST)
  2. Spam - As above. --Sonofagun18 04:29, 15 June 2007 (BST)
  3. Spam - So, I would actually spend the time to kill someone with a baseball? Well, might as well put in records as a weapon. --User:Axe27/Sig 04:47, 15 June 2007 (BST)
  4. Spam - Accuaracy would be terrible, and balls aren't supposed to be effective against zombies. At all. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 05:20, 15 June 2007 (BST)
Re: Okay, Baseballs would not be practical if we're talking about realism here. What about the others? Everyone's hyper focusing on the Baseballs, and not even acknowledging the rest of the suggestion. Something like a Golf Ball or a Hockey Puck would be pretty effective, don't you think? Tryce of Thunder 06:40, 15 June 2007 (BST)
  5. Spam' - Ridiculous and who can ever shoot a baseball that fast without a pitcher? --JudeMaverick Talk +1 Jobs 06:51, 15 June 2007 (BST)
Re: There are more things than baseballs. PAY ATTENTION TO THE OTHER STUFF. NOT JUST THE BASEBALLS. Tryce of Thunder 06:55, 15 June 2007 (BST)
Re: Even so, accuracy will be ridiculously low and probably lower than the flare gun unless as what boxy said, you're a professional athelete. --JudeMaverick Talk +1 Jobs 08:49, 15 June 2007 (BST)
  6. Spam - Humorous --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 08:45, 15 June 2007 (BST)
  7. Baseballs - I think they get the focus because the notion of killing someone with a tennis ball is even stupider.--Priz 12:07, 15 June 2007 (BST)
  8. Humorous - Unintended perhaps, but it belongs there. --Nikitis 12:24, 15 June 2007 (BST)
  9. Humorous - I can just Imagine some pker killing somebody with a golf ball. Hey, I yelled Fore! But otherwise, I can't see how somebody would hit a baseball or tennis ball at a zombie and kill it. --Casthewiz 12:34, 15 June 2007 (BST)
Re: True. Hey, I got a few ideas for this to be resubmitted. Adding an automatic pitcher so Baseballs and Tennis Balls might actually become decent weapons. I left out the pitching machine 'cause it seemed to be too much. Should I add it in after this goes through the system? Tryce of Thunder 16:32, 15 June 2007 (BST)
Re: Yeah, I think the pitching machine would be too much.... Or you could make it a findable item in stadiums and have 30% encumbrance, but I think that would be killed to heck. --Casthewiz 17:36, 15 June 2007 (BST)
  10. Humorous Dammit! - Man, I remember the days when I was always the first to spam something... *sigh* those were good times... --Charley C. 16:41, 16 June 2007 (BST)
  11. Humorous I wanted to vote keep until I saw "humorous". That seemed more appropriate. I like the idea of ammo for the baseball bat and golf clubs. --Secruss 22:55, 16 June 2007 (BST) EDIT: Drop my vote, jut noticed the spam thing at the top, didn't load page fast enough.
