20070621 Group Ratings that Account for Unspent XP's

... 04:05, 21 June 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type
stat page alteration

Suggestion scope
group ratings

Suggestion description
Introduction: The new group ratings on the stats page are very nice, but they seem potentially slanted towards groups that encourage their members to reach high levels by purchasing every skill in the game, as opposed to groups that encourage role-play restricted selections of skills. Members in the later type of group may have in fact earned many more experience points, but will be lower in level.

Suggested Change: Group ratings should calculated by adding the total level of all group members, plus .006666 (1/150) of the unspent XPs group members each have. The effect is the same as if those unspent XPs had been "spent" on "levels" that each cost 150 XPs, although it is possible to get well beyond 42 "levels" in this fashion. Other group stats would remain unchanged- average group member level would be based on actual levels of skills.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep/Slight Change - No explanation required: just makes sense. 100XP seems more logical though. --Magentaine 04:09, 21 June 2007 (BST)
The 150xp figure is designed to slightly favor groups who's members do actually buy all skills. Some survivors spend as much as 150XP on certain skills, and as little as 75XP on others. In effect, any skilla you do not buy (plus all "levels" past 42) get treated as "out of class". ... 04:35, 21 June 2007 (BST)
    • apathy* you had my keep anyway, why bother? I don't really care how it's figured. --Magentaine 04:39, 22 June 2007 (BST)
  2. Strong Keep - A player who's played the game for years is worth more in a group than someone who has played for two months (I maxed my zombie in 5 weeks by following MT07...good eats! wooty 17:10, 20 June 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep - Man, I didn't even notice the stats change until the yesterday.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 05:31, 21 June 2007 (BST)
The stas change only occurred yesterday. I'm just THAT fast. ... 13:02, 21 June 2007 (BST)
Oh thank God, for a second there I thought I missed something.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 01:40, 22 June 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep Not that the group I am in bothers about that sort of thing, but I can see why others would.--Seventythree 07:43, 21 June 2007 (BST)
  5. Keep - Ratings should be reliable --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 08:48, 21 June 2007 (BST)
  6. Keep - This seems obvious to me, as the game seems to have reached a stage where levels mean next to nothing. Werewolf32 12:13, 21 June 2007 (BST)
  7. Keep - Yah. Abooove. --  AHLGTH 19:31, 21 June 2007 (BST)
  8. Keep - It's only fair to the REALLY good groups (such as the DEM) that are strictly pro-survivor. ADD: @#$%, i put my vote in the wrong section AGAIN!! @#$%!! --Bruce Torbaron 16:43, 21 June 2007 (BST)
So do you want to move it? Also, DEM has no policy against buying zombie skills or even playing (when killed) as a zombie. I know, because I have an alt in that group who spends a lot of time as a zombie. ... 18:23, 21 June 2007 (BST)
vote moved as it was getting on my nerves armareum 01:04, 22 June 2007 (BST)
  9. Keep - Hell yeah, good idea. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 06:33, 22 June 2007 (BST)
  10. keep - Although not in a group myself, I can see how this makes sense. --Sonofagun18 07:14, 25 June 2007 (BST)
  11. Keep - All this unspent XP gotta be used for something. --dudemeister 23:13, 25 June 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - Pointless in the extreme. New players know and learn strategy too and if they are at a point where they can't learn any more skills they will know at the very least what they are doing. XP being included just shows which group has more members who have been around longer, not which ones are actually better(the purpose to the level thing seems like a more which ones help more people level type thing to me, same with rating being the addition of all members levels) This would serve no practical purpose other than bragging about whose is bigger. Just add a date for original group creation or something, although that can usually be found at the wiki.--karek 07:30, 21 June 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - An individual player's level is worked out using the number of skills, alone. The stats page gives an average level for the group. Why should the group average be worked out differently from the individuals? armareum 01:04, 22 June 2007 (BST)
