20070731 Putrefaction

Steakfish 01:01, 31 July 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type: New Zombie Skill

Suggestion scope: Zombies

Suggestion description
The zombie has become so riddled with infection that even accidental contact with it's fluids is dangerous. Contact with the disease-laden brain matter is particularly risky. This skill would fall under the Brain Rot tree. When a zombie with the Putrefaction skill is killed, there is a certain chance that whoever killed it will become infected (this infection is identical to that caused by Infectious Bite). The chance of infection depends on how the zombie was killed. Any firearm: 25% (it is assumed that those using firearms are standing farther away, and therefore have a low chance of getting splattered fluids on them). Any hand-to-hand attack: 50% (should this include DNA scanning and reviving?). Head-shot: 75% (You splattered the brain, where the highest concentration of infection is). The flavor text might include some sort of warning when the zombie reaches 15 hp or lower -you strike/shoot the zombie, it oozes grotesquely- something like that. --Steakfish 01:01, 31 July 2007 (BST)

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - Unlike the others I understand that infection is extremely weak and this idea has some merit. Especially because zombies are suppose to be a problem and areas with zombies are not supposed to be easily populated. This makes survivors actually use FAKs more frequently and makes zombies a tiny iota more dangerous. It's exactly how UD is supposed to be played and it actually encourages what were the original game mechanics. This suggestion helps bring the game back to the genre and how things are meant.--Karekmaps?! 07:00, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep - You sold me when you said it was under Brain Rot because as is, there's not much of a reason for anyone to have it. A dedicated zombie ought have a bit of a reward. I'm not a fan of the specific percentages (I think they should be lower, certainly under 40%), but this is definitely a keeper.--Insomniac By Choice 11:48, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep - Sounds good. But the percentages are a tad high.-Doc Crook 16:55, 31 July 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill Survivors are actually supposed to kill zombies, it's one of the central parts of the game for them. Don't punish players for playing the game. How would you like if every time a zombie killed a survivor he'd get a headshot? This is just messing with people for playing the game effectively. And this is actually a dupe, but I'm too lazy to find it.-- Vista  +1  01:30, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - Whine some more, Vista. Zombies are actually supposed to kill survivors, it's the only part of the game for them. This doesn't accomplish that though, infection is only really useful for newbies that would die anyway, and real-time fights in which it's an annoyance rather than a legitimate threat. I don't like it. --Mold 02:46, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  3. No. Not realy that good, mechanics wise. Remember, times by a million... --Seventythree 16:54, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill - I like the basis of the suggestion, but the percentages are quite high. It would also be bad if the effects stack, Headshot + Hand-to-hand = 125%? --ZombieSlay3rSig.pngT 17:24, 31 July 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - Breaks basic game mechanics, as Vista. --Thelightguy 01:39, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  2. Spam - No. That is not how UD is meant to be played. --Pdeq 02:33, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  3. Spam - Could you please stop spamming the wiki with your weird suggestions?--Sachaztan 09:16, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  4. Spam - As above. --Saluton 17:06, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  5. Spam - Dont punish people for buying skills. This seriously punishes people for having headshot. While none of us likes that skill, its just plain mean to infect them on death with monotonous regularity --Grim s-Mod U! 17:07, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  6. Spam - nerfs headshot --Vault 17:22, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  7. Spam When I was a survivor, I axed two zombies a day. I found about 2 FAKS a week. Do the math. This doesn't balance, this doesn't make the game more fun, and it probably wasn't put on a talk page.--Wooty 20:13, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  8. Spam - Actually, you can guarantee this wasn't on the talk page, because even the author still has questions about his own suggestion. Don't nerf headshot, do work out your suggestions on the Discussion page --Ryiis 21:03, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  9. Spam - The percentages are bloody ridiculous. --The Hierophant 22:07, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  10. Spam - A vastly overpowered auto-attack skill for a zombie (being attacked results in an free 'infection attack'). Survivors have no auto-attacks, why should zombies? Having it under Brain Rot is an attempt to keep it rare, however rare != balanced. Also, the flavour of the suggestion would mean that certain items of clothing would no longer no expected to be 'zero effect', which is what they ALL currently are. 'arm. 01:35, 1 August 2007 (BST)
