20070807 Paramedic Class

Doctor Venom 05:36, 7 August 2007 (BST) Suggestion type
Scientist Class

Suggestion description
Starting Equipment: 1 First Aid Kid, Flare Gun

Starting Skill: Free Running

Tactical Overview: The Paramedic is the flip side of the Soldier Class, Medic: a Science class character that starts with a military skill. While it might be more realistic to make the Paramedic a Civilian Class, making it a Science Class allows them to cheaply purchase relevant skills such as First Aid and Diagnosis. Though they initially lack these important skills, the Free Running skill allows them to quickly move from Hospitals and Churches (where they need to scrounge for FAKs) to trouble areas where they are needed. Essentially, they are different from Doctors (and Medics) because they favor mobility over traditional medical skills.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - Even though a lot of people will probably vote kill for this, I quite like it. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 05:42, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep - You, know? Actually like this quite a bit.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 05:44, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep - I like it, but what's the rationalle behind the flare gun? the one, the only, sushiknight (talk contribs HARD E.N.D.) 05:54, 7 August 2007 (BST)
RE I thought a Flare Gun kinda fit since it could be used as an emergency signal of some sort. Thinking on it, a radio might be better. --Doctor Venom 16:32, 7 August 2007 (BST)
Re: Yeah, I like the idea of a radio better. Flares seem to be used primarily for calling zeds to a location anyway, probably not something you want to be doing with this class. the one, the only, sushiknight (talk contribs HARD E.N.D.) 17:19, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep - I like this one a whole lot. -- SgtBopTalk|Maris Viridis 06:44, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  5. Keep/Change Like sushiknight said,whats with the flare gun?--Timo 1 07:05, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  6. Keep Finnaly a medic that can run pretty quick. Just if it could heal you that fast. Nice idea. --Savant 11:21, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  7. change - A flare gun? A knife would be more suitable.....sounds good though -Doc Crook 14:53, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  8. Keep - It's mine, and I like it. ---Doctor Venom 16:35, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  9. WEAK Keep/Change - Get rid of the free running and replace it with diagnosis and give them either 3 faks or a scalpel(aka knife)and you got my vote.Chill 17:14, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  10. Keep - It's good, fairly well thought out too. A little bit too much like scout though. Perhaps a knife instead of flare gun?BoboTalkClown 02:50, 8 August 2007 (BST)
  11. Keep/Change - Very good idea, but it needs little tweaking. Give that class a nice shiny knife instead of Flare Gun, and it's perfect.--Vortexx 11:24, 8 August 2007 (BST)
  12. Keep - I kinda like the idea. --P02 Samuel 23:00, 8 August 2007 (WST)
  13. Keep - I like this idea. --Evildemon989 Talk · Help · W! · P! · SU! · TJ! · Hai! 23:12, 8 August 2007 (BST)
  14. Keep - Good idea. A Science class that actually has easy access to the things they need to level up. -- Pavluk 22:40, 9 August 2007 (BST)
  15. Keep -I think its a pretty good idea. The game needs a new science class, and this would fill the gap nicely. Although I suggest changing the starting equipment a bit to differentiate it from the medic. Perhaps 1 FAK, a knife, and a radio?--Dr Doom86 07:08, 14 August 2007 (BST)
  16. Keep -This is the class that I would have chosen had it been made earlier. I also agree with Dr Doom about the equipment --Murhapuro 16:30, 16 August 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Is this suppose to be a ripoff of the scout class? Freerunning? Seriously? Many hospitals are on VSB, unless under siege. It's like that to help the newbies. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 05:57, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  2. I'd much rather see class differentiation before any new classes. Now that Doctors start with Diagnosis, I think most players that play as "healers" tend to go for Free Running pretty quick anyway. And I don't think 50 XP is a significant enough reason to have a new science class like this.--Pesatyel 06:05, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - Scouts with an FAK instead of a binocular? Meh The preceding signed comment was added by boxy (talkcontribs) at 11:00 7 August 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill - As above. Scientists don't jump around on buildings, they know things like diagnosis and first aid.--Wooty 17:09, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill/Change - As per Chill's suggestion under the Keep section --Ryiis 17:51, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill - The only reason scouts aren't borken is because they can't buy just one skill for 75xp that gives them an excellent source of XP gain. This paramedic is essentially an Lab Assistant or a Doctor who gets 75 free XP, and doesn't get killed so easy out of the gate. Pretty much a no brainer choice- why would you play any other science class? ΔΔ Swiers BigEYEwitnessLOGOgrey.png 20:05, 7 August 2007 (BST)
RE (not a vote) says the guy who is trying to negate head shot under the guise of helping noob zombies (see vigor mortis 5ap stand up) zhodani Non-author re, take it to a talk page, and learn to sign The preceding signed comment was added by boxy (talkcontribs) at 16:05 19 August 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill - It's just a slight amendment of a scout, so they are better right right from the start. Other's have pointed out why this shouldn't be included in the game. 'arm. 02:43, 8 August 2007 (BST)
  8. Kill - Fusing the medics with scouts? No thanks. --Heavy DDR 01:54, 9 August 2007 (BST)
  9. Kill- What's the point? Just play a scout, free run into a hospital, and filch a first aid kit. Or, play as a doctor and buy free running. Why would a paramedic have free running? What class in medical school teaches you to jump from rooftop to rooftop or rappel between buildings (or however it works when people use free running)? --Fenian 20:05, 9 August 2007 (BST)
  10. Kill I have no idea what's going on here. So a non-military scout with a military skill. Right. --Druuuuu 21:05, 12 August 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - A paramedic that doesn't even have First Aid? What the heck? And what does Free Running have to do with being a Paramedic? And what's with the flare? I was going to vote Kill, but this just doesn't make any kind of sense. --Midianian 09:44, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  2. Spam - above --Sonny Corleone RRF CoL DORIS CRF pr0n 17:03, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  3. Spam - As above.--Karekmaps?! 17:44, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  4. spamination abomination - don't blame me - boxy told me to do it. --Funt Solo Scotland flag.JPG 11:46, 8 August 2007 (BST)
  5. Spork - kind of ridiculous. it duplicates both the Scout and the Medic, while offering nothing unique. and its skill and starting items make no sense. seriously, if you wanna be a paramedic, pick an established class and ROLE PLAY it as a paramedic. role playing, WHAT A CONCEPT... i wonder, when is someone going to suggest a good new class for Scientists? never? sigh... --WanYao 22:43, 8 August 2007 (BST)
