20070811 Piled Bodies

Steakfish 23:27, 11 August 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type -Flavor

Suggestion scope -Areas with lots of bodies

Suggestion description
The basic idea of this suggestion is to add a little flavor to any place where there is a large number of bodies. In situations where there are lots of dead bodies lying around, people would probably not just leave them scattered randomly. With no immediate way to bury or burn bodies, they would probably be gathered in a pile (along with any severed limbs, bloody clothes, etc.), more or less out of the way. Even if they had all been dumped out a window, they would all land in pretty much the same spot. Zombies also tend to drag their newly killed prey into dark corners, once again leading to piles of bodies, bones, and limbs. I think the text in any area with ten or more dead bodies should reflect this. Instead of "There are X dead bodies here." it would be "There is a bloody pile of X dead bodies and dismembered parts." Once a player has the ability to distinguish revivifying bodies, they would not be counted towards the pile (since they've probably been pulled out and set somewhere else). In this case it would say something like "There is a bloody pile of X dead bodies and dismembered parts. Y bodies have been set aside, they smell strange." I'm not committed to this exact wording, just the basic idea. --Steakfish 23:27, 11 August 2007 (BST)

Clarification- The specific word and idea of "piles" is not the heart of my suggestion. The idea is that the scene of a massacre, or any other spot with alot of dead bodies should get a little bonus flavor, "piles" is just one way this could be done. (Sorry if this clarification after the initial post doesn't fit accepted guidelines, but withdrawing and resubmitting it didn't seem right either) --Steakfish 00:19, 12 August 2007 (BST)

Keep Votes

  1. Change - the separate piles part, other than that it's good.--Karekmaps?! 23:33, 11 August 2007 (BST)

  8. Change Nuke the part about "Set aside" bodies. It nerfs Scent Death even further. --Secruss 19:10, 12 August 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - There is currently nothing to contradict your thinking if you envision the bodies in a pile, but why put limits on how people imagine things by saying they MUST be in a pile? SIM Core Map.png Swiers 23:48, 11 August 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - as Swiers. Why restrict people's imagination? For me, that's one of the best things about UD - the game provides the bare bones and the rest you have to flesh out for yourself. -- Pavluk 00:28, 12 August 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - Pointless flavor, gives information about how many bodies have been revived without any other necessary skill. Besides, each block on the map is large; an entire museum can fit on one. Is there only going to be one pile in a space that large? --Saluton 04:58, 12 August 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill who the hell would take large amounts of time to drag bodies in a pile? especially in junkyards, wastelands, etc. Good flavor doesn't limit the way you can see things.--Wooty 05:44, 12 August 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill - I'm against the stifling of creative imagination, sorry JS Leone 07:23, 12 August 2007 (BST)
  6. Several Things wrong here. Nerfs a part of Scent Death. Doesn't require any actions on the part of players (ie. you wanna "tidy up" get out there and do it). I DON'T believe people WOULD go out and "tidy" up the bodies (throwing them into a pile or whatever). There is always the chance a zombie will get up and attack, for example. And, realistically the possbility of disease and such, while not part of the game, would keep people from doing it too. Also, the squares with lots of bodies don't really last all that long anyway. Either the zombies get up (and are thus standing) and move on or the bodies idle out and disappear.--Pesatyel 07:41, 12 August 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill - Doesn't nerf Scent Death (notice "once a player has the ability to distinguish revivifying bodies"), but I'm with Swiers on this one The preceding signed comment was added by boxy (talkcontribs) at 08:52 12 August 2007 (BST)
