20070914 Specific Item search

Elnino2783 21:44, 14 September 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type
Improvement
Suggestion scope
Human characters, and server load (Non AP using server load, and AP using server load)
Suggestion description

Not necessarily an additional skill, but an option during searching for an item. I figure the way it could work, is that if you want to search for a specific item in a building it will lower your chances of finding said item by 50-75% (maybe different depending on what others think) of the chance you would have originally. This would stop the frustration of finding unwanted objects, and then using up the server to load another page where you have to drop the item. It is better than blocking an item from being picked up because you may not want a FAK at the time, but you also do not want to go through your settings to block them only temporarily. It could be included as another consumer skill, but I think it would be best as something you get right from the start. That way if you have a 1.24% chance to find something in the beginning, it will change to .62%. So still low, but really not that huge a difference when you're just starting out

Other considerations would be if the specific item search would be from a drop down menu specific to every building type, or a generalized drop down menu that could be used in any building, even if you can't find that item there.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - I figure it helps out new people more than level 41 people, but on the whole it would keep server load down. And I'd be more likely to find a flak jacket, rather than the worthless wire cutters as a survivor or a zombie--Elnino2783

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - No point to it, realy. Sorry.--Seventythree 22:06, 14 September 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - You spelt "really" wrong.--  AHLGTG 22:10, 14 September 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill, Kill, Kill. Pointless... To much of a drop for finding Items. Getting things that you would need alot of, And with low rates, such as siringes, I would rather reload the page, Then making it about 4% chance of finding one, Because it's already so hard to find. --Kaynex 00:30, 15 September 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill - Not needed, the auto drop feature works better. --Sonofagun18 07:39, 15 September 2007 (BST)
  5. Hmm - Good idea, but already covered by Auto-Drop. BoboTalkClown 22:24, 15 September 2007 (BST)
  6. Not Needed As Bobo said- Good Ideam but taken care of with Auto-Drop ~A`Blue`JellyTME*V*I*L*? 04:09, 16 September 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  2. Spam - My god. For the love of... But... why...ngh. No. Nalikill 22:08, 14 September 2007 (BST)
  3. Spam - You can already block items you don't want to pick up.--Karekmaps?! 00:14, 15 September 2007 (BST)
  4. Spam - This is pretty much worthless. --Steakfish 01:06, 15 September 2007 (BST)
  5. Spam - Got to your game profile, go down the bottom of the page, click on "edit your profile and settings", then go to the bottom of that page and untick anything you don't want to find when searching... much better, eh? RE- I think what people are missing is that there are some items that you don't want to have to put a block on just because you want a syringe over a FAK. FAK's are stil useful to you, just no at the moment you need a syringe. And yes, 50-75% is a little drastic, but I I was looking to make it somewhat balanced. Maybe 15-25% would have been better--Elnino2783 07:22, 15 September 2007 (BST)
If you want a syringe, search an NT building (where there are no FAK's)... not the hospital -- boxytalk • 14:57 19 September 2007 (BST)
  6. Spam Would this be a dupe? As Boxy said.--Pesatyel 03:21, 15 September 2007 (BST)
