20071012 Wounds: Zombie Clothes

Suggestion scope
Zombies and Survivors

Suggestion description
Clothes are pretty cool ways of distinguishing your character. Torn and bloodstained clothes are pretty cool on zombies too. However in zombie movies something that often makes individual zombies stand out are the wounds they have. You know, zombie with intenstines hanging out, zombie with most of its face missing, zombie with one arm, burnt zombie, etc...

I suggest giving zombies the ability to acquire wounds and add them to their description, on a line beneath their clothing.

Wounds can only be sustained if you've been attacked by the appropriate assault, or performed the appropriate action since your last turn. You'd click to your settings and then decide what cosmetic wounds you want to have. This would probably mostly be selected while a dead body. For instance if a survivor just hit you with an axe you could select stuff like: "almost decapitated by a deep neck wound". Getting shot numerous times could let you select "riddled with bullet holes". Knives you result in "short shallow gashes". Flare guns could leave you "charred and crispy". There could be multiple selections for each attack type. There could even be hard to get appearances that can only be acquired by being struck or killed by rarer attacks like fists or the pool cue.

If you're revived your wounds would get turned into scars. So that deep neck wound example from an might turn into "the ugly ridge of a scar runs around their neck." Performing surgery on yourself or having surgery performed on yourself would let you removed any scars wish.

Zombies could replace wounds with new wounds, but only delete wounds without getting a new one if they have Digestion and kill a survivor.

This should be pretty fun and RPtastic.

  1. Keep Pool cue wound: "blue chalk mark across its face" --Jon Pyre 23:19, 12 October 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep - Wonderful. --Pgunn 23:21, 12 October 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep - Could use a survivor equivalent, although we do have the ability to change clothes at will.--  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 23:23, 12 October 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep - Nice... Well, not nice, but you know what I mean.--SeventythreeTalk 23:27, 12 October 2007 (BST)
  5. Keep - The pool cue part swung it for me. I like Mr Gnome's idea of a survivor equivalent as well. Tattoos, maybe? --Pavluk A! E! 23:34, 12 October 2007 (BST)
  6. Keep -Survivors have a equivalant, it's called clothing.--Wooty 00:02, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  7. Keep - As said above, great idea. -J. A. 00:28, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  8. Keep / Change - I'm not so sure about wounds (see discussion page), but I'm all about scars. Scarring could be simplified to flavor text in the profile indicating that the character's visible skin has no scars or is mildly scarred, scarred, badly scarred, very badly scarred, heavily scarred, very heavily scarred, and so forth.--Jiangyingzi 00:35, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  9. Keep - Fun!--Actingupagain 01:03, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  10. Keep - Fun x2! --Hhal 01:20, 13 October 2007 (BST)

  12. Keep - Fun x4!--BoboTalkClown 03:38, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  13. Change/Keep - Combo Breaker. Oh, and maybe change it so that you can turn scarring off - newbies won't have the ability to get their scars off. Glenstone 01:31, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  14. Keep with small change - "This zombie has parts of a broken pool cue sticking out of his eye"... Only for killing blows... And only if you have a way to turn it off, to fix the wounds and scars if you decide you don't like them. --WanYao 02:59, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  15. Keep - Quality suggestion! Great RP experience. --Themanwhocares4 03:43, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  16. Keep - As long as it's optional and reversible somehow. --Howard Bentley 03:45, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  17. Keep - As Howard. Sockem 04:04, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  18. Keep - also serves as a stealth buff to the crappy weapons: (possibly) unique scars. I like it. Bsides, I think it'd be awesome to run around with a piece of cricket bat sticking out of your head. --the one, the only, sushiknight (talk contribs HARD E.N.D.) 04:32, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  19. Keep - Funny. And flavorful. --Private Mark 05:20, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  20. Keep - Awesome idea. --Sonofagun18 05:30, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  21. Keep - Excellent idea! Maybe the wounds should turn into a little toned down version when the zombie is revived? e.g. "almost decapitated by a deep neck wound" would turn into "a long scar around the neck" or something. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 10:27, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  22. Keep - Brilliant. I want my zombie to have no head!--  Savant  Chit-Chat  11:25, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  23. Keep --Perne 12:06, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  24. Keep This is going to be a unanimous win, mark my words. --LumiReaver 12:51, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  25. FTW NUM NUM NUM NUM NUM NUM NUM NUM! Tasty! Oh, as Howard and Midinian, needs optional component. --Slightly Lions 13:13, 13 October 2007 (BST)

  30. Keep Mmmmmm... Chrispy harmans. --Taint 20:39, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  31. Keep -- Though one or two changes/suggestions. I'd make it ONLY selectable when dead-dead, and have the options be based on the final blow. So, basically, as well as "stand up" you would have "aquire wound (menu)" based on the last damaging attack to hit you. Also, prestige wounds from being headshot would be nice (oh no I was headshot. Wait! I an get Hole In Forehead! Yay!) and from suicides. If you have certain wounds, if you would get the option for that again it would be replaced with a more serious wound. (gashed arm, badly gashed arm, missing arm). And finally, when fighting a zombie, the flavour text would change when it was attacking you/you were attaking it. Would still be "just a zombie" in the dropdown, but would come up as "A mildy/badly/extremely disfigured zombie. An armless zombie. A legless zombie) --Gene Splicer 10:38, 14 October 2007 (BST)
  32. Keep - Cool. --Uncle Bill 20:03, 14 October 2007 (BST)
  33. Keep - Love it. "Charred and Crispy" haha!- ParisV-W 22:48, 14 October 2007 (BST)
  34. Keep Don't forget that one with the Hair... ~A`Blue`JellyTME*V*I*L*? 04:53, 17 October 2007 (BST)
  35. Keep- Cut up my zombie, too! --Vkkhamul 01:47, 18 October 2007 (BST)
  36. Keep/Change – Sure, you can do this with your profile. (In fact, my zombie is sporting a particular wound right now.) The same argument was made for clothes; they have proven to be a worthwhile addition, and this may be worthwhile too. Changes: I would prefer that only finishing blows be able to add wounds, and only headshots add head wounds. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 13:56, 18 October 2007 (BST)
  37. Keep - BAM!!! eye hanging by a nerve. --Shatterspike1 23:48, 18 October 2007 (BST)
  38. Keep - This zombie has a dozen shotgun pellets embedded in his stomach. -- Mordac the Refuser 17:30, 19 October 2007 (BST)
  39. Keep - Wouldn't the clothes' remains fall off after being ripped so much though? We'd be left with naked people...--Kolechovski 15:04, 23 October 2007 (BST)
  40. Flavor-riffic - 'Nuff said. --Reaper with no name TJ! 19:29, 23 October 2007 (BST)
  41. Keep' - Kill/spam voters are just allergic to flavor--Rictor Stilwell 02:34, 24 October 2007 (BST)
