[edit] 20071101 Colored Familiar Groans

Suggestion scope
Zombies
Suggestion description
Zombies could use more ways of sticking together. I suggest that if you hear the groan of someone on your contact list the groan message should appear in the same color.
So orange contact, orange groan. Etc. If you're friends with everyone in green you might pick green over gray even if the green groan is older or from further away.
This would let zombies stay in touch and regroup with allies. While I think the potential for abuse by enemies is small I'd suggest having a checkbox on a player's settings to prevent their groans from being recognizable in this way (I guess so they release more generic and ununique groans).

Keep Votes
- Keep - I predict the kill voters are going to be screaming about ZOMBIE ANONIMITY, but I think this is a great idea. --Hhal 17:57, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep I don't think it'll harm any zombies found, since really, the worst thing you can do to a zombie is cost them 6AP and toss them out a building. It doesn't make much sense for someone's enemies to follow them around and blow all their AP on ineffectual attacks. But just in case there's an opt out for zeds. --Jon Pyre 19:27, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - *gestures at this suggestion.* Sockem 19:34, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - seems like a nice sugestion to me--Zach016 19:47, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - Guarrgh!--SeventythreeTalk 19:52, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep Unless someone thinks of a viable reason not to let zombies gather into groups and kill harmans, then - it's a keep from me. --Funt Solo-QT-

- Keep - Would be usefull. -- John RubinT! ZG

- Keep - Nice --Pavluk A! E! 21:15, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - Isn't this already in the game? I swear it is.-- AHLGTH 21:29, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - Yeah. --The Hierophant 21:31, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - As long as only zombies can see the groan colours.Studoku 21:42, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep' - As above. And "very weak kills" are stupid. If it's borderline, let Kevan decide.--Wooty 21:45, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Fine, then... Happy now? --WanYao 21:51, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep/Change - This how it works when a survivor performs an action on another survivor, so yeah, zombazh should get the same kind of thing with groans. I vote Change, however, because at least in theory Scent Death is supposed to do something very much like this. Problem is, Scent Death does not work well... Thus I think this effect should be a function of the Scent Death skill. --WanYao 20:51, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Very weak keep - As above. And people can vote how they bloody well want to --Ryiis 22:24, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - Meh.-- dǝǝɥs oʇ ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 22:37, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - I think Scent Death could be a prerequisite, but good enough. --Z. slay3r • Talk 22:52, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep- Sure, why not? Could come in handy. --Darth LumisT! A! E! FU! U 22:54, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - Hell, it even makes sense! BoboTalkClown 23:01, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - Not really a threat to anonymity, since it requires that the Zombie already be in your contacts, which means it has knowingly done something in the past that would make its name available to you. --Steakfish 01:40, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep As long as it works like this when you're a Survivor, too... ~A`Blue`JellyTME*V*I*L*? 01:56, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - Sounds good --Pvt De 02:29, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

- Keep - I wanna stay w/ my horde! UCFSD 16:00, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - I wish I could vote twice. --Secruss 20:07, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - I likes it, and I don't even play zombies. --Howard Bentley 20:42, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- I think the non-Keep voters misunderstand one of the main concepts of the game that zombies are intended to be HORDE creatures. That is not easy to accomplish IN GAME (most hordes have to metagame). Adding increased communication elements that would otherwise have to be metagamed is a good thing. Besides, this doesn't break anonymity any more than having the person in your contact list does. Post-Mortem Identification - Zombies on your contact list will be identified within stacks of Zombies..--Pesatyel 21:06, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- As all above, especially Pesatyel. I don't play a zombie either, but I can see how this would be a huge benefit to small and large groups of friendly feral hunting packs. I guess this would weaken karek's battle
bawlcry of "ferals have it so tough" ;) - Slightly Lions 15:50, 4 November 2007 (UTC) - Keep - Great idea, helps alot to tell you if your friends are attacking.--Pharo2i2 14:03, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep' - Although it does already say You here a familiar groaning 5 blocks north. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 22:35, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- Re True, but that only refers to your group, not your contacts. --Jon Pyre 14:57, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- Wasn't this suggested last year? If not...it's a keep. Oh wait...I'm still voting keep... --Axe Hack is "Old Skool" 21:56, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
- keep nice suggestion, could benefit the game alot. The man 20:20, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep I love to recognize my friends. Or be recognize. And since apparently waving to them should never be possible... (readers, if the hat fits, put it on) --Grognor 02:42, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
Kill Votes
- Kill - Out of theme. The genre doesn't typically involve Zombies having friends, nor are they analogous to gangs. Zombies are (and should be) effectively anonymous. --Pgunn 01:21, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Re Yet we have groups like the Ridleybank Resistance Front and others using coordinated attacks, the ability to recognize zombies on your contact list, and group familiar groans. This works with the context of UD. --Jon Pyre 15:36, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - Agreed Pgunn... --WOOT 01:52, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - If it was colorized for groups, sure. But not for individual contact colors. – Nubis 21:58, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
Spam/Dupe Votes
- Spam - "This would let zombies stay in touch and regroup with allies. While I think the potential for abuse by enemies is small I'd suggest having a checkbox on a player's settings to prevent their groans from being recognizable in this way (I guess so they release more generic and ununique groans)." The first sentence is already in the game, ignore groans from out of your group or scent death to locate group members. The second negates the entire purpose of the suggestion while spamming up the edit profile screen more then it already is. --Karekmaps?! 09:29, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Re It doesn't negate the suggestion. If you want allies to find you by your groans then don't check the box. I don't think spam applies to a small box on a static page you rarely have to go to. --Jon Pyre 15:36, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
