Keep Votes

  1. Keep- If opening a cell phone now costs 0 AP, why not? --Darth LumisT! A! E! FU! 01:39, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  2. Keep - GPS units are useless. Does anything even happen when you click on it? Meh.--  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 01:46, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  3. Keep - Next to useless so why not--Zach016 02:06, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  4. Keep - That works, if opening a cell phone is free, we can think of it as opening our GPS device or something of the sort. --Adobewedge 02:12, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  5. Keep A GPS displays your coordinates just by being in your inventory. Since it is already functioning without any action it would not use up an action point. --Jon Pyre 03:30, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  6. Keep As Darth. Omega 03:51, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  7. Keep Makes sense, dosen't do anything so you shouldn't have to pay. BlobdudeTalk TM MC 04:06, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  8. Keep Hmm, 0 AP to do nothing. Makes sense... ~A`Blue`JellyTME*V*I*L*? 06:01, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  9. Keep Makes sense.--SeventythreeTalk 08:58, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  10. Weak Keep There is an inconsistency, because clicking on a cell phone no longer uses an ap, but uselessly clicking on almost everything else does. I think that needs to be fixed, one way or another. Also, why the heck does it cost 2 AP just to change the channel on a radio receiver??? --WanYao 09:28, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  11. Keep - If the button doesn't do anything, get rid of it. This isn't a free action if it doesn't do any action anyway -- boxytalk • 10:38 19 November 2007 (BST)
  12. Keep - Hell, there are a bunch of extensions that show your location anyways. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 10:53, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  13. Keep - Makes sense. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 12:12, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  14. Keep - It's a great idea. This should be the same for radios. --Waterspark2 13:14, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  15. No idea what Funt is on about. The GPS automatically gives the location anyway, it is always on and always displaying coordinates. There is no free action dispute in this as it has always been free. What this suggestion is about is simply removing AP loss for clicking on something that does nothing. If as Funt suggests that some time in the future there might be a GPS action costing AP, then it can be made to cost AP at that time, right now it is just an AP trap. - Whitehouse 13:36, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  16. Yup --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 13:41, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  17. (K___P) - Well,axe,not everyone can get firefox and UD Tool : 3 And,be a bit more forgiving to the newbs,Sur5or : 3 --Perne 14:09, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  18. keep - I sometimes click the wrong thing when Im reloading my gun, so I dont want to lose something because I wasnt paying attention. doc crook 14:40, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  19. Keep - If one isn't actually doing anything, what's the AP cost meant to represent? I never really sympathised with the "Ha ha you slipped in that puddle everyone who lives here knows about" mentality. --Pgunn 15:24, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  20. Keep - No free spam votes. UCFSD 16:55, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  21. Sure - Not everyone has FF, so shut up. Glenstone 17:17, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  22. Keep -Druuuuu 18:48, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  23. Keep - Out of the forty thousand people who play UD, just a miniscule fraction of the have add-ons. Kevan does not make updates for the 3% of people who metagame, he makes them for everyone. Anyone who cites UDTool for a spam vote is a dumbass. Opening a cell phone is free, "opening" a GPS should be free.--Wooty 18:50, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  24. Keep - Clicking on something that does nothing shouldn't waste ap, and just punishes new players who don't know how things work yet. --Pdeq 19:11, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  25. Keep - The newbies won't have UDtool, you know. --Howard Bentley 20:05, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  26. Keep - The button should be trashed in the first place, if it doesn't do anything. --Z. slay3r Talk  20:31, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  27. Keep - I've long wanted to vote FOR something, and this is utterly harmless.--Sarah Silverman 21:45, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

  30. Keep - only makes sense. --Pavluk A! E! 22:29, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  31. Keep - Do not cite UD tools. SAVE THE NOOBS! BoboTalkClown 00:15, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
  32. Keep -Do not cite UD tools, do not forget about n00bs, and this isn't even and action, morons.--AlexanderRM 01:30, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
  33. Keep - No need to activate the unit, it functions constantly. --Shazzelim 12:56, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
  34. Keep - It's not a free action as no action is taken, so that half of the kill/spam votes are countered, and not everybody has UDtool which counters the other half. Go for it. --Pestilent Bob 01:50, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
  35. Keep - An "action" that accomplishes nothing other than simply re-loading the screen should not cost an AP. Either clicking the GPS should actually do something (besides just refreshing the screen) or this suggestion should be implemented. Its only effect would be to save newbies AP, hence reducing the annoyance / learning curve factor for new players. SIM Core Map.png Swiers 20:01, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
  36. Keep - A keep vote. That is all --~~~~ [talk] 20:10, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
  37. Keep - Because I'm not pissing myself over somebody getting a free AP point (oh! the humanity!) -J. A. 03:23, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
  38. Keep - For the disadvantaged who can't have Firefox.--Cap'n Silly T/W/P/CAussieflag.JPG 06:25, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
  39. Keep - What more can I say? --Lh778 14:38, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
  40. Keep - No cost to check phone messages, should be no cost to check GPS screen. Also, not everyone can use FF+UDtool(etc) nor knows about UDtool. This change is equivalent to checking phone messages. It's not a "free action" any more than radio broadcasts or checking the phone. -- ZEDU medic T MEMS 05:56, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
  41. Keep - Let free actions be free. And I seem to remember a time when FF/GM/Metagaming was not a valid kill reason. - David Malfisto 14:32, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
  42. Keep -Just like phones.--Kolechovski 22:18, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
  43. Keep -GOD YES! If there's no action, it should be no AP! Ms.Panes 05:48, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  44. Keep - Well DUH! You didn't do anything but take a glance at it. I looked at my hand, oh no! I must spend an AP!--The Trichloroethane Potato SGP E! RQ! Winner 1! 23:10, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  45. Keep - This strikes me as a very common sense edit that makes life slightly easier for new users. Adept Omega 01:38, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
  46. Keep - Firefox displays the coordinates for free (to those people who spent enough time playing UD to discover UDtool), so non-firefox-newbies should not be forced to waste AP.-- [ ρsych°Lychεε ]  T 21:33, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
  47. Keep - GPS clicks being free would encourage people to experiment/play with their inventory. Also, you can find out your co-ordinates without UDTool or a map. Here's the steps: Firefox >> Tools menu >> Page info >> Forms. In the table there's two numbers, add 1 to both of them and voila! there's your co-ordinates. --Toejam 21:41, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - If you're stupid enough to click on your GPS you deserve to lose your single AP.--Sur5or 03:02, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
If you're stupid enough to forget about the newbies, you deserve to lose all your AP. --Darth LumisT! A! E! FU! 03:05, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  2. Don't wanna waste an AP by clicking the GPS, then here's the best solution. Get Firefox, then download UD Tool. It gives your your current coordinates without the use of a GPS. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 11:08, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
  3. Weak Kill - I am kinda torn, but I have to agree with some of the people below - no free actions --Ryiis 15:35, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
  4. Kill- Wow,really if you are inquiring about what your GPS does it should cost some points, even if it does nothing Anti Gorefest5--anti gorefest5 06:25, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
  5. Kill – A GPS unit always show your location. Clicking a GPS does nothing, just like clicking a weapon, a DNA extractor, or a toolkit; however, it costs you 1 AP. Why? You're looking at your item. If someone wants to spend their time inspecting their equipment, they should be allowed to. Don't nerf navel-gazing! ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 06:20, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
  6. Kill - I was a bit torn on this too, although those spam votes below me and the kill votes above me have good points. Besides, I'm afraid that if this vote were allowed, then "free AP" suggestions may spread to other areas, as well. --Private Mark 04:45, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
  7. Kill As Revenant. --Karlsbad 19:40, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

  4. Spam - Even if you don't have Firefox/UDTool, you can just play with UD open in one window and the map open in another, which makes the GPS just a waste of space. Also, it's a free action that does something (sort of) usefull, unlike opening a cellphone, which does exactly fuck all until you spend the AP to make a call. --Steakfish 03:42, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
