20071213 Residual Effects of Death

Suggestion type
change, improvement

Suggestion scope
effects of death

Suggestion description
All characters in the game, including survivors, zombies, and player killers, are able to be killed and then rise back up from the dead an unlimited number of times. And every time, there is no effect of them being killed. It is as if nothing happened to them in the first place. I believe there should be some consequence to your character getting killed. As it stands now, some characters have been killed over one hundred times and others have been killed over three hundred times. I believe that these people do not care how many times they die because they will just get back up anyways, there are no consequences. If there were thresholds pertaining to how many times you died, it would add an element of danger to the game and it would change the social dynamics. Survivors would think about survial a little bit more and player killers could not kill at random with no repercussions. If for instance, after you died fifty times you receive a message saying that, "You have now died over fifty times. You must rest. Your body has taken too much punishment in the daily existence that is Malton today. To stand up again, it will cost an additional five action points." And once they reach one hundred deaths, it cost another additional five action points to stand up. Every fifty deaths would cost another five action points to stand up. I believe then things would get interesting and that people would think twice before randomly killing. It doesn't matter whether someone is a survivor, zombie, or player killer. It would effect everyone equally. I would also suggest that before putting this rule into effect that everyone's death count be reset to zero, so that no one could complain that they already died a certain number of times before the implementation of this rule.

AP Cost to Stand Up

0-49 deaths - Normal AP cost

50-99 deaths - 5 extra AP's

100-149 deaths - 10 extra AP's

150-199 deaths - 15 extra AP's

200-249 deaths - 20 extra AP's

250 deaths or more - 25 extra AP's

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - author -- Cheveyo 06:36, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. KILL - Here's an idea: Play your zombie alt, which I'm SURE you have. Limit yourself to 25 AP a day, be sure to take into account the 6 you lose when you are headshot. Try this for a week, and then come back and tell us all how much FUN it was. We'll wait, I promise! --Beauxdeigh 07:10, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - Punishes older players, and this just murders zombies, who already have to deal with headshot. --Druuuuu OcTRR 06:30, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
    - that is why I suggested that everyone's death count be reset to zero before this rule would take effect -- Cheveyo 06:43, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
  2. Spam - You just don't get being a zombie, do you. Zombies. Don't. Care. If. They. Die. Walk into a hail of shotgun fire? Sure, who cares... I'm dead already, all I want is those tasty bra!nz! -- boxy talki 06:45 13 December 2007 (BST)
  3. Spam - You want to punish people for sticking with the game? Hell. No. --Visible One 07:00, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
  4. Spamariffic! - You must be joking right? Did you leave out the part where it only affects people getting revived? Zombies have no choice but to die, way to chase players away. -- Bisfan 07:08, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
  5. Spam – Ooh! Ooh! I have an even better idea! How about when you die in UD, you also die in real life? I can't believe you took this to voting after the feedback you got on Talk:Suggestions. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 07:33, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
  6. Spam - Gamebreakingly stupid. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 07:39, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
  7. SPAM! - UD has problem with keeping players for long enough - people just leave after a while. Do you want to speed up the process? -- John RubinT! ZG FER 07:41, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
  8. Spam - did you not understand what was said in discussion on talk:suggestions? --~~~~ [talk] 07:54, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

  10. Spam - Punishes older, specificaly zombie players. Is anyone else kinda waiting for Karek's vote on this?--SeventythreeTalk 09:22, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
  11. Spamtastic Because it forces you to retire your character and make a new one, thereby using up all name combinations sooner than nessicary. - Pardus 10:24, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
