20071226 Can I Have a Puppy

Corwin Amberly 06:30, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Suggestion type
New Character Classes

Suggestion scope
New Characters, Old Characters attacked or helped by the new characters

Suggestion description
2 New Character Classes: Dog and Zombie Dog. These will have less health, (@30 HP) and do less damage per AP (Max 0.8 Damage/AP, normal 0.3 Damage/AP), but instead these character classes will have 100 AP, with it recharging at double the rate (Allowing them to move much further), and they should have only 30% of the carrying capacity of humans (with possibly a skill to up that to 40% or something) Dogs and Zombie Dogs can't build barricades, or use revivification syringes, or fuel generators, or use firearms, or use radios, or do things that require hands, but they could maybe have skills that let them regenerate health by attacking (like Digestion) and live dogs should be able to get through heavier barricades than humans (say up to Heavily Barricaded) due to their smaller size, and they should still be able to lug around heavy equipment. (for example, a Dog could have a toolkit, allowing any humans in the same building as the dog to use its toolkit, or lug around a portable generator, and then drop it off for some survivors, or maybe give a FAK to a survivor (causing them to instantly use it, and heal a small amount of HP)) They should also have Death-Rattle equivalents. Also, Reviving a Zombie Dog costs that dog 20AP, (2 with the Ankle-Grab equivalent) and Headshotting damage is doubled. Search Odds shouldn't be halved, since a lot of items a dog might pick up will be useless to it.

Basically Dogs should be like advanced scouts, or rangers: Able to fend for themselves, able to move really fast, but limited in their ability to assist others.

Perks: Faster movement (relative to humans)
Relatively good attacks, without wasting AP on searching
Ease of levelling
Support abilities for humans
Easier access to barricaded buildingd
Ease of gameplay for people playing Dogs
More variation in character classes

Disadvantages: Less health, less carrying capacity, inability to revive others, inability to barricade or use radios.

Erm-- sidenote: I lack wikipedia skillz. I don't really know how to make this look better, though I'm trying. Help would be much appreciated, thanks Corwin Amberly 06:25, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

  1. Kill - Remove this and take it to Talk:Suggestions. The presence of options in your suggestion clearly shows it's not ready for voting. Also, we just had a much better thought out zombie dog suggestion and it got spaminated. If you got ideas from that, you should give credit to its author. --PdeqTalk* 06:34, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
I wasn't even aware that there was a zombie dog suggestion, having dogs around just seemed like a good idea... I can move it to Talk:Suggestions.. but how? --Corwin Amberly 06:40, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
Place the content on that page, someone else can do the actual removal for you as long as you make it clear you want it removed.--Karekmaps?! 06:48, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
Read here how to withdrawn the suggestion --~~~~ [talk] 06:53, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
  2. Kill - Having functional (or aesthetic) pets is a good idea, but not having animal character classes. It would start an unfortunate slippery slope of "why don't we have this and that animal as well?" and so on... ~AriedartinTalkA KS J abt all 08:40, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
  3. Kill - Kudos for the character name though, Nice to see some people still read a bit of Zelazney! Although surely Corwin would be able to just shadowalk until he found a puppy? But seriously, Move it to talk page, you'll get a whole bunch of feedback, some of it even useful. And don't worry about not editing stuff too well to start with, you pick it up as you go along usualy.--SeventythreeTalk 09:51, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
  4. Kill Whether or not you think animals are a good or bad idea, it doesn't make sense to create a class that can't perform many core functions in the game. --Jon Pyre 14:12, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - Seriously, not a chance. --The Hierophant 06:43, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
  2. ugiuyffy Grssrrsyysdcdcsssdycyt see what ur suggestion sounds like? Omega 06:46, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
  3. Spam - whenever I read these animal suggestions, I ask myself "why?". It just doesn't fit. Either the infection that causes zombification wouldn't work on another species, or they'd be the ultimate zombie killing machine -- boxy talki 07:31 26 December 2007 (BST)
  4. Spam - No, you can't. --Cyberbob DORIS CGR U! 07:50, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
  5. Dupe - We've already seen suggestions for this. --Pgunn 07:58, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
