20080129 Headshot Change

Zach016 17:32, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Suggestion type
Skill Change

Suggestion scope
Survivors/zombies

Suggestion description
In order to make headshot more logic sound and a bit fairer I propose that it instead must be preformed after the final blow. Heres how it would work:

  • The player would gain a new button after the zombie was killed by them simply saying headshot. This button would have a dropdown menu like the First Aid kit only instead listing your current weapons
  • This button can be clicked for the cost of 1AP, and the weapon you have selected would be used to preform the headshot, at 100% accuracy because the target is lying still
  • If the targets body was to be removed through a process (standing up, dumped etc.) you would just recieve the message "the target moved away before you could finish it off" costing no AP
  • For flavor (as suggested by Midianian) once given a headshot, the zombie would recieve the text "<name of killer> the Zombie Hunter gave you a Headshot with a <weapon>!"
  • Any action other then reloading would cause this button to disappear

Note: The talk:suggestions discussion is in the discussion page for those who wish to see if their concern has been answered already. I realise this is close to the new buff, but because we are not actualy implementing it, but putting it in to be looked over and possibly, eventualy implemented when the game is ready for it, believe this is just as fine a time as any to bring it to voting.

Clarifation Note: Any zombie who is not given a headshot under this system will not have to spend extra AP to stand, any zombie given the headshot under this system must spend the same AP to stand up as if they were given a headshot under the current system.--Zach016 17:44, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - Terrible suggestion I say, if only I wasen't the author...--Zach016 17:35, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
  2. Keep - Makes Headshot voluntary. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 18:43, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. One thing...does the zed have to use any extra AP to stand up? --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 17:36, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
    • Re - If headshoted yes, if not, no that would defeat the purpose.--Zach016 17:40, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Then it stays as kill. I reread this, and well. A Headshot could be delivered from long range with a firearm, even if the zed was still standing. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 17:43, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
    • Re -disscusion page please--Zach016 17:45, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
  2. Kill - Nope. ?Rise command would make it almost impossible to stop a determined zombie. --SeventythreeTalk 18:13, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Re - To tell you the truth I had very little idea about the ?rise command let alone what it does, I'll have to re-think this a bit...--Zach016 22:57, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
  3. Kill - As seventyfour.Studoku 18:52, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
  4. Kill - adds another ip hit, a careless user could press the attack button accidentally, thus losing the chance to headshot, if you choose a firearm i believe it would also waste an extra bullet to headshot the zombie, and, as 73 pointed out, ?rise players would be the ones who most benefit from this. I liked the concept of the suggestion, but its execution was poorly made. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 18:56, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Re - If your careless then you deserve what you get--Zach016 22:57, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
  5. kill - as hagnat --~~~~ [talk] 19:40, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
  6. Kill I prefer headshot as a finishing blow rather than pumping lead into a prone body. Plus it isn't like it's more fun...it makes survivors spend an extra AP and possibly miss their chance to headshot. --Jon Pyre 20:41, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
  7. Kill- This is just an arbitrary extra step that punishes people for purchasing the Headshot skill.-- BKM 20:54, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Re - technically once you purchase this skill its a free action that tags along with everything else, it isn't punishing you for taking it, its making it not free.--Zach016 22:57, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
  8. Kill - Not that I kill zombies anymore, but back when I did I REALLY would not have wanted to spend an additional AP to Headshot a zombie.  Billy Club Thorton  T!  RR  20:56, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
  9. Kill - Yes, because the thing we need right now is more zombie buffs. I just cannot get enough of zombies these days, especially now that they can utterly destroy any siege. I voted Keep because I want zombies to get up and hit me for longer periods of time, possibly ending my trapped existance as a survivor. --Vandurn 21:50, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
  10. Kill - I have a Zed alt and I don't find headshot unfair, and my survivor is screaming "Don't mess with my headshot!" --FXI 22:02, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
  11. Kill - don't nerf headshot--CorndogheroT-S-Z 22:32, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. spam - don't nerf ma headshot. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 18:06, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
  2. spam - Unneeded change. This has no effect other than giving sieging zombies more power, the ones likely to be targetted by Headshot to stop them.--Kolechovski 18:39, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
  3. SPAAAM - As above. Also, it doesn't make sense why an experienced Zombie Hunter wouldn't just use headshot to finish the zed while it was still standing. --Hhal 18:52, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Re -So were all special forces snipers now?--Zach016 22:57, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
