20080130 XP Level Up v.2

AXE HACK TALK Desu Nōto χIII Everyday I'm Shufflin'! 22:00, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Suggestion type
Excess XP use

Suggestion scope
Everyone Lv20 and up.

Suggestion description
Before you spam this thinking it'll be like my previous XP Level Up suggestion, let me tell you that I've decided to take ideas from the original 2007 suggestion talk. So this is far from what you saw in this one.

Now...the highest level is level 42. But some characters won't reach that level. What I propose is a new optional skill on both the survivor and zombie skill tree, and to increase the maximum level to Lv100. This optional skill is called Level Up, and can be bought only if your character is Lv20. This "skill" costs 10,000XP, and it will increase your character's level by 1.

A new skill will complement Level Up, called Title, which also costs 10,000XP. This can be purchased every 10 levels, starting from Lv30.

What Title does is that it doesn't increase your character's level. It just gives your character a title. The title of your character will be shown in your profile. Each character class will have their own titles, for a total of about 8 titles each. Here are those titles:

  • Military
    • Lv30 - 2nd Lieutenant
    • Lv40 - 1st Lieutenant
    • Lv50 - Captain
    • Lv60 - Major
    • Lv70 - Lt. Colonel
    • Lv80 - Colonel
    • Lv90 - Brigadier
    • Lv100 - General
  • Science
    • Lv30 - Intern
    • Lv40 - Professor
    • Lv50 - Field Medic
    • Lv60 - Surgeon
    • Lv70 - Field Researcher
    • Lv80 - Experiment Conductor
    • Lv90 - Paranormal Researcher
    • Lv100 - Polymath
  • Civilian
    • Lv30 - Survivor
    • Lv40 - Survival Expert
    • Lv50 - Veteran Survivor
    • Lv60 - Avid Shopper
    • Lv70 - Morale Increaser
    • Lv80 - Local Legend
    • Lv90 - Survival Hero
    • Lv100 - Hero of the Masses
  • Zombie
    • Lv30 - Human Hunter
    • Lv40 - Raider
    • Lv50 - Rotter
    • Lv60 - Abomination
    • Lv70 - Undead Menace
    • Lv80 - Destroyer
    • Lv90 - Brain Collector
    • Lv100 - Nemesis

Special thanks goes to 73, Uncle Bill, and Themonkeyman11, and some others for some title ideas on the discussion page. Addition thanks goes to Dux Ducis for the idea from the original March 2007 discussion.

Keep Votes

  1. The author kills! Anyone who votes against this, that is... --AXE HACK TALK Desu Nōto χIII Everyday I'm Shufflin'! 22:02, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
  2. Weak Keep - only because stats of groups are combined of players' levels.although i don't like the numbers. 10k is too much --~~~~ [talk] 22:26, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
  3. While I understand that 10K is there to stop everyone becoming elite commanders, it is too much. Also, I object to the ranks; "survivor", and "rotter". Other than that, I like it. - W 22:41, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
  4. Keep I like it, but I also think 10k is a little bit to much per level. --Johaen 22:44, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
  5. keep - I wanna be a field medic doc crook MM P 22:50, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
  6. Change - I think 10k is far too much, possibly 1-2k would be better. Apart from that, good suggestion.Studoku 23:07, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
  7. Keep - Meh, not bad, not great.--'BPTmz 23:11, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
  8. Keep - An effective way of dealing with exess XP, nice flavour, all round good.--SeventythreeTalk 23:14, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
  9. Keep See, this gives me something to build up to... Good idea. ~A`Blue`JellyTME*V*I*L*? 23:51, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
  10. Keep - I like it, good flavor that doesn't really mess with the game, my only unhappiness is that it might take up more room on the profile page, and I want as much room as possible... but overall, I like it... --/~Rakuen~\Talk Domo.gif I Still Love Grim 00:14, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  11. Change - 10k per level is too much... in order for one to reach level 100 it would need (100-42)*10k XP, that's 580k xp! I have gathered 6k spare xp, that wouldnt even allow me to buy a single level of this skill! change the cost to 500xp, and then it would be ok (that would amount to 29k spare xp to max lvl100) --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 00:14, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  12. Keep - Edit: now that I think about it, yah, it would pave the way for new skills for a hellva lot longer, keeper as is--Zach016 00:26, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  13. Keep - I like it! --The Gecko PKer 00:56, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  14. Keep - Awesome. This suggestion is very neat. However, I don't prefer the brigardier title. If there was something else, I would like to see that. However, I like this suggestion either way.--MikhailA 01:06, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
The Brigadier title? I just picked a bunch of ranks from the real military. Don't blame me on that. --AXE HACK TALK Desu Nōto χIII Everyday I'm Shufflin'! 20:17, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  15. Keep - C'mon! Titles are fun. --Uncle Bill 01:14, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  16. Keep - Nothing wrong with ranks.--Karekmaps?! 01:44, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  17. Keep - it should be less that 10k maybe 1k but its a good idea -Death7 02:14, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  18. Keep - Although I personally don't care too much about titles or anything like that, I could see how some people would really enjoy this. Plus, it gives the upper lvls something to work for, rather than just stockpiling exp.  Billy Club Thorton  T!  RR  02:31, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  19. Keep - Huh? I came up with the original idea? Well what do you know... I don't like all of the names, and I think 10,000 per level is a little steep (Think maybe 1,000-2,500), but overall I like it. Here's my keep. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 03:18, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  20. The Weakest Keep EVAR It would be a regular keep if you would put some enlisted ranks in the military section, I want to be able to work for a living.Kuddles 06:19, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Those military ranks are pretty much the real military ranks... --AXE HACK TALK Desu Nōto χIII Everyday I'm Shufflin'! 20:55, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  21. The 2nd Weakest Keep EVAR - Because the ranks aren't that great, and 10k is WAY too much. But... it's a good idea. BoboTalkClown 16:20, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  22. Change - I like it. Only thing is that 10000XP is a bit steep. It would take a hell of lot to reach level 100. Maybe 1000-2000 would be a little more player-friendly. -- Cheeseman W!RandomTalk 16:45, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  23. Keep - I like the idea of having titles for roleplay purposes. Couple of things though, one, as with above xp prices are pretty steep (perhaps could have them scaled so the earlier titles are cheaper than the later ones?) and secondly, why the restriction based on level? If I value getting, say a scientist title rather than getting all the military combat skills isn't that my choice? (although admittedly it would be silly if I could get a scientist title before getting all the science skills). --Aiwe 17:13, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  24. Keep - As so many above me. Acoustic Pie 18:27, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Keep/Change - Wonderful suggestion, but 10,000XP is simply excessive. --Hhal 21:19, 31 January 2008 (UTC) Vote posted after the author removed the suggestion. --Z. slay3r Talk  21:28, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. Change - 10K is too much. Make it 1K, then we'll talk. --Heretic144 23:11, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
  2. Kill The thing I don't like is that someone who has been playing long enough to get the highest title isn't any more powerful than someone with no title. I prefer a system that actually allows xp to give you an in-game advantage beyond flavor. --Jon Pyre 00:07, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  3. Kill - meh. --FrozenFlame 01:12, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  4. Kill - Obviously written by a harman. The zombie names should reflect the zombie community. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 03:22, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Go blame the zombie titles on 73. He came up with most of them. --AXE HACK TALK Desu Nōto χIII Everyday I'm Shufflin'! 20:17, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  5. 10K is a lot.--Pesatyel 04:31, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  6. Kill - Distracts from the game. Zombie apocalypse != climbing corporate/military/whatever ladder. --Pgunn 08:31, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  7. Kill - It seems like this suggestion will make zombies that started out as another class (military for example) use their level categories -- boxy talki 08:47 31 January 2008 (BST)
  8. Kill - As Funt. Also, I like how leveling up ends after a reasonable length of time. I prefer the current "Wow. That guy has a lot of extra XP." over trying to specifically measure just how obsessed people are with this game via "rankings". And the "rotter" thing for zombies is potentially inaccurate as a zombie could gain that much XP without buying brain rot. --Ms.Panes 08:51, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  9. Kill - As Pgunn. Besides, the excess XP collected is already something to brag about, for anyone who likes large numbers. --Aeon17x 09:52, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  10. Kill - I've said it before; the best thing about UD is that there is no incentive to play after level 41/42. No highscore lists or gotta catch'em all type thingies. No titles. Nothing to spend your piled up XP on. Those who still play the game after reaching that level do it because they like the game, not because they want to finish it. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 11:13, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  11. Change - It's way too expensive. I do like the idea of character title progression, though. Make it a little less pricey and you'll get my vote. Also, as Grimch said, you might want to make sure representatives of each class are consulted on the specific titles. - Headshot Hal 15:13, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  12. Change - Agree on it being too expensive. 1,000 XP doesn't seem enough either. Maybe 2,000 per level - my main character would level five times instantaneously, and a couple alts only once. And I'll always keep 100 XP unspent in case a skill suddenly appears.--Actingupagain 16:42, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  13. Kill - Don't think it adds much, although titles as a concept are nice I don't like the ones there --Ptb 18:56, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - I could just write that in my description, instead of paying out XP. Even if it was applied just for the amount of XP one has, instead of being forced to spend it. Sorry. It's a nice idea, I just don't like it. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 23:08, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
