Suggestion description
Before you spam this thinking it'll be like my previous XP Level Up suggestion, let me tell you that I've decided to take ideas from the original 2007 suggestion talk. So this is far from what you saw in this one.

Now...the highest level is level 42. But some characters won't reach that level. What I propose is a new optional skill on both the survivor and zombie skill tree, and to increase the maximum level to Lv100. This optional skill is called Level Up, and can be bought only if your character is Lv20. This "skill" costs 1,500XP, and it will increase your character's level by 1.

A new skill will complement Level Up, called Title, which also costs 1,500XP. This can be purchased every 10 levels, starting from Lv30.

What Title does is that it doesn't increase your character's level. It just gives your character a title. The title of your character will be shown in your profile. Each character class will have their own titles, for a total of about 8 titles each. Here are those titles:

  • Military
    • Lv30 - 2nd Lieutenant
    • Lv40 - 1st Lieutenant
    • Lv50 - Captain
    • Lv60 - Major
    • Lv70 - Lt. Colonel
    • Lv80 - Colonel
    • Lv90 - Brigadier
    • Lv100 - General
  • Science
    • Lv30 - Intern
    • Lv40 - Professor
    • Lv50 - Field Medic
    • Lv60 - Surgeon
    • Lv70 - Field Researcher
    • Lv80 - Experiment Conductor
    • Lv90 - Paranormal Researcher
    • Lv100 - Polymath
  • Civilian
    • Lv30 - Avid Shopper
    • Lv40 - Party Starter
    • Lv50 - Veteran Survivor
    • Lv60 - Survival Expert
    • Lv70 - Morale Increaser
    • Lv80 - Local Legend
    • Lv90 - Survival Hero
    • Lv100 - Hero of the Masses
  • Zombie
    • Lv30 - Human Hunter
    • Lv40 - Brain Collector
    • Lv50 - Siege Starter
    • Lv60 - Barricade Blocker
    • Lv70 - Infecter
    • Lv80 - Raider
    • Lv90 - Ransacker
    • Lv100 - Undead Legend

All character classes will have both survivor and zombie titles. When they purchase a title for a certain level, the level of that title will correspond with the other side's title. For example, if a military class character is titled "1st Lieutenant", when they die, their zombie rank will be the corresponding level. In this case, a "1st Lieutenant" is a Lv40 military title, so the Lv40 zombie title would be "Brain Collector". This works the same when a zombie gets revived. While as a zombie, the profile will only show the zombie title. While as a survivor, the profile will show only the survivor title.

Special thanks goes to 73, Uncle Bill, and Themonkeyman11, and some others for some title ideas on the discussion page. Addition thanks goes to Dux Ducis for the idea from the original March 2007 discussion.

  1. Changes made: I lowered the XP prices from 10k to 1.5k and some of the titles were changed, especially the zombie titles. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 21:28, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

  6. Keep - Much better. The ranking levels cost 15 times what a new skill introduced would, instead of 100 times - still costly, but not insanely so. Is it useless? Yep! But in a nice way. Good show!--Actingupagain 22:37, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  7. Keep - But nothing fits a PKer! --  AHLGTG 22:52, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Yea...well...There are no PKer classes...We have to hope Kevan listens to POWER TO THE PKER, which I hope he does. You see, my main is a PKer, but we have no starting classes... --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 19:50, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

  30. Keep - Yup, I think this is a very cool idea. "Jamie Cantwel3, Hero of the Masses" I like the sound of that.--Jamie Cantwell3 07:32, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
  31. Keep While it is unlikely that anyone more important than a major in the military would be in malton, i find that this neither unbalances the games, nor detracts from the RPG aspect of Urban Dead. --Raynor16 03:07, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
  32. Weak Keep - XP cost is still kinda high, but it's a good suggestion none the less. --Kikashie ELT 03:21, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - The zombie titles still dont work. What happened to "Pantsless One"? Also, so expensive... --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 21:39, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
You're just never satisfied, are you? And expensive? AT least I didn't keep it at 10000XP! If you think you have a list of better zombie titles, why don't you post it on the talk page? --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 21:42, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Im just disagreable. I dont see the need, but if the zombie names are suitably funny+relevant, i may be persuaded to. Too lacking in laughter urban dead is. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 21:46, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Undecided-ish Sorta Kinda Kill - what happens if new skills get created - do you still go up a level and potentially get a free new rank without paying the 1500 knicker? --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 22:07, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
You go up the level, but no free rank. You still have to pay for that rank. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 22:09, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Okay, thanks for clarification. Changing vote. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 22:53, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  2. Eh. No need.--ShadowScope 00:51, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
  3. Kill - As before, distracts from the game. Zombie apocalypse != climbing corporate/military/whatever ladder. At the same time, "Zombie Legend" is a hilarious phrase. Sounds like a zombie guitar game. --Pgunn 03:50, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
  4. Kill no real need, and if we do use something, I prefer that prestige suggestion Funt had--CorndogheroT-S-Z 01:47, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
  5. Kill I like how leveling up ends after a reasonable length of time. I prefer the current "Wow. That guy has a lot of extra XP." over trying to specifically measure just how obsessed people are with this game via "rankings". Besides, I could just write that in my description, instead of paying out XP. Even if it was applied just for the amount of XP one has, instead of being forced to spend it. Also, if you really want a rankings system, just write one up in the wiki, and declare everyone with a certain amount of XP to have a specific rank, and tell people to put the rank in their descriptions. Then, spray paint the link to the wiki in the game. If anyone cares, it'll catch on, otherwise it'll die alone and forgotten. You can even make a group, call it "Rank" or something, and if ten people are in it there'll be a link to your wiki thing right on the groups' page. --Ms.Panes 02:28, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
  6. Kill - This would actually encourage even more idiotic behavior for survivors. More idiots going out shooting zombies instead of barricading, healing and reviving. No, thank you! - John RubinT! ZG FER 09:02, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
  7. Kill - as above -ChrisForelle 12:45, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
  8. Kill - As PGunn and JohnRubin. Also, you see civilization fall around you as you try your darndest to survive, and you're thinking about having a silly title? Not to mention they all sound awful. --Aeon17x 12:48, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
  9. Kill The excess xp itself is a mark of veterandom. ----Secruss|Yak|Brahnz!|CGR|PKA|800px-Flag of the United States.svg.png|EMLN|Templates|RRF|RFTM|Crap|WHOZ|Evil3.gif|MU|GN|C2008|Chippy.gif|13:23, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
  10. Kill - I've said it before; the best thing about UD is that there is no incentive to play after level 41/42. No highscore lists or gotta catch'em all type thingies. No titles. Nothing to spend your piled up XP on. Those who still play the game after reaching that level do it because they like the game, not because they want to finish it. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 14:15, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
you're wrong. in stats groups are ranked by level of their members. consider this as a "highscore list" -- Duke G. non-author re --~~~~ [talk] 14:22, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Not comparable to a highscore list for individuals. If you want a deeper explanation, take it to my talk-page. --Mid Non-author RE struck. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 19:35, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
  11. Kill - I don't like the "bought only if your character is Lv20" part. --Z. slay3r Talk  17:13, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Yea...well...I bet you want it at Lv40. But...If I did that, there are some survivors that won't get this benefit. Ever heard of the RAF? Their highest level is in the 20s due to the fact their members aren't allowed to buy zombie skills. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 19:32, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
  12. Kill with fire - Because all of the titles except for the military ones quickly become idiotic, and the XP cost is excessive. Sheana T / TMZ 04:50, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
  13. Kill Bollocks to this - Sanpedro 09:18, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

  15. Kill - Crap. Grant (talk) 05:48, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
#Kill - I appreciate the author wanting to give people with piles of XP something else to do. However, it is useless to the game, and might interfere in the role playing aspects of some groups-they already have their own titles and ranks.--Dr Doom86 07:14, 15 February 2008 (UTC) Votes after deadline struck --~~~~ [talk] 19:45, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
