Suggestion description
In the real world, some buildings have FAK(s) installed, and it's sometimes indicated in the building plan or mandated by the law (example here and here). These are to be used for quick patching of wounds, accidents, emergencies, etc.
I propose that there's an equivalent of these installed FAKs in the city of Malton, which I shall call the "emergency FAK". Like portable generators or radio transmitters, these emergency FAKs should be put on buildings for the convenience of survivors, who never know when they might need it.
This is how it works:
- It is possible to install one (1) and only one FAK per building. This consumes 1 AP to install ('first aid kit on [the building]'). Afterwards it becomes known as an 'emergency FAK'.
- If there is an emergency FAK already installed in the building, it is not possible to install any more FAKs.
- Malls, forts, and other multi-block buildings can have one emergency FAK per block.
- Emergency FAKs can be used by any survivor on injured targets. If present, it appears on the Possible Actions list as 'emergency first aid kit on [target]'. It works just like a regular FAK.
- However, unlike regular FAKs, usage of the emergency FAK does not reward EXP to the user. This is to relieve ourselves of the "jerk" factor since they gain nothing from wasting emergency FAKs, and to show the survivors that the emergency FAK is only used for emergency situations.
- An emergency FAK acts like a decoration ('An emergency first aid kit is installed on a nearby wall.'). These can be destroyed, but only by zombies smashing the decorations.
- Destruction of emergency FAKs by zombies provide 5 EXP, the same as destroying generators and radios. Since there is at most one of these in every building block, it's fairly balanced, and makes decor smashing something to look forward to.
- The emergency FAK disappears after use, or when it is destroyed by zombies. To have an emergency FAK again in the building, a new FAK must be installed.
This lessens the need for infected people to run back to hospitals/malls and risk dying along the way; instead, they can look around nearby buildings for emergency FAKs. This also gives medical personnel something to do, by making sure all buildings in their suburb have emergency FAKs in it, etc.

Kill Votes
- Kill - griefers will grief, whether they get XP or not. And it's not fair to not give out XP for using a FAK on someone (as long as they're actually healed, that is). As for zombies getting 5XP for destroying them, can you say "overpowered"? It's a FAK - they're like litter, they're so easy to find. Gennies and radios take 20% encumbrance, FAKs only take 2%, so they're also more prolific. I don't know, I really don't. The only thing I'm really looking for here is the tiniest excuse to move this vote to Spam ... but I kind of like the suggestion. --Funt Solo QT

- Re - Griefers will grief no matter what, the best we can do is not give them rewards for it. The balance, the exp issues, and the rationale for not giving them to survivors has all been discussed before in the Developing Suggestions page. --Aeon17x 12:08, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
Spam/Dupe Votes
- Spam - A significant nerf to infection. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 12:16, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
- Spam - An interesting suggestion, however conventional first aid kits are already ridiculously powerful. They are one of the best weapons survivors have. You should try clawing a harman to death while there is an active healer in the building... it's simply impossible. This suggestion is a form of trading, leaving a FAK in buildings for others to use.
