20080215 Remove Wirecutters from the Game Preferences Section on the Edit Profile Screen

Cheese 19:05, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Suggestion type
Slight change

Suggestion scope
Everyone

Suggestion description
Currently, when you go to edit your profile, you can select the items you want to search for. Wirecuttersuggestion.jpg

However, according to this bit Wirecutters are no long able to be found in the game. Therefore, I think that the checkbox for wirecutters should be removed from this list as it may confuse newer players who do not use the wiki and will end up wondering why they can't find wirecutters anywhere and if they broke something. I think its a bit pointless being there since the item no longer exists in-game.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - Makes sense to me. -- Cheese 19:06, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
  2. Keep - Here's an example of the soon-to-be spam votes: "ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE?! DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THIS WOULD TIP THE BALANCE IN THE FAVOR OF THE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL HUMANS?! YOU LITTLE CUNT YOU!!!!!!!!!!!". The other spam votes will be: "Stupid, pointless, useless, I don't like it, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO". --Hhal 19:11, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
  3. Keep - No reason to keep unused elements of the interface, KISS. --Viktor Suvorov 19:32, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
  4. Keep - As Viktor, and because this is a HUGE zombie nerf.  Billy Club Thorton  T!  RR  19:46, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
  5. Keep - For too long have the zombies enjoyed the uber-powers of survivors looking for a non-existant item, or not looking for it, whatever the case may be according to selecting it or de-selecting it from this screen. With this taken away, survivors will focus their efforts more on the destruction of zombies, and thus this is the largest survivor buff I've ever seen. I'm not sure though - this might be a little overpowered. I mean, have you seen the ratio stats of zombies:survivors recently etc. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 19:51, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
  6. Keep - Think of the new players. --Heretic144 19:53, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
  7. Keep - There's no more wirecutters......? :'(--SeventythreeTalk 19:53, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

  11. Keep - Why not?-Studoku 21:16, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
  12. Keep - I just barely support this. After all, removing such an option from the profile will give survivors a huge advantage.--CorndogheroT-S-Z 22:02, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
  13. Keep - MASSIVE survivor nerf, worst idea I've ever heard. (yes, this vote was intended for this section) --Howard Bentley 23:21, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
  14. Keep - With that box removed, I WILL BECOME UNSTOPPABLE! -doc crook 23:24, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
  15. Keep - Reduces clutter. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 23:27, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
  16. Keep - This isn't a bug. It is suggestionworthy, and should be change. BTW, wirecutters should be in toolboxes now. --BoboTalkClown 00:57, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
  17. Keep ---Jamie Cantwell3 02:31, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
  18. Keep - I dont see why a useless and non-existent item should still remain on the profile page. I agree with BoboTalkClown. If there is ever to be a purpose for wirecutters again, that purpose could be solved with the new toolbox.--Dr Doom86 04:17, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
  19. Keep - Those damn zombies need to be taken down a peg or two. --Cyberbob DORIS CGR U! 05:04, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
  20. Keep - How can you kill this? It does nothing to gameplay but remove a useless button. --FXI 05:20, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
  21. Keep - Why is it even still there? An afterthought? --Private Mark 07:14, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
  22. Keep - Sure. --Ciaran Deckardson 15:42, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
  23. Keep Cool. --Darth LumisT! A! E! SR 22:49, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
  24. Keep - I was thinking the same thing today. It should be removed, now that it's done.--Kolechovski 22:19, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
  25. Keep - As above. --Alphonse Burr 22:58, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
  26. Keep - Makes sense. --Rick Best 22:22, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
  27. Keep - The death of a hated enemy. I'd rather fine nothing than those things. --Vandurn 13:51, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. whatever - wirecutters... wirecutters... wirecutters... all those dozzens of spammy suggestions to give wirecutters a new use... all those dozens of suggestions to remove wirecutters from game. and what? they were removed! but will community live them alone? no! more suggestions about wirecutters and their removal. more and more and more! oh my god, newbies?! did anyone think about newbies!! they'll be sooo confused! they'll think there are wirecutters in game! the holy wirecutters that have soooo much purpose that they [newbies] want to find them! but what the hell?! they cannot! they search and search but no holy mega super centaurus wirecutters found! A bug! that's a "discard" option in settings that's causing a bug!! Pityfull frustrated newbies!!!... Seriously. Kevan will remove the setting. i'll change vote to keep if/when i'll be in a good mood, whatever. --~~~~ [talk] 21:24, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
  2. Kill - Would make it cumbersome for wirecutters to be found/used again. --Pgunn 22:24, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
    • Re - If they ever came back the situation could be reversed but since they don't exist currently whats the point in a useless checkbox that serves to confuse those who don't realise that they wirecutters were removed. -- Cheese 22:26, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
  3. Kill - Put it in bug reports. --PdeqTalk* 22:27, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
  4. Kill - Leave it there. Those of us who are "old school" still like to look at that little check mark and remember the good times when you could still cut stuff. Hell, I'd like to see wirecutters go back into the game (even though they're useless). --Uncle Bill 00:36, 16 February 2008 (UTC) (Oh, and it would tip the game balance in favor of the EEEVVIIILLL harmanz.)
  5. Kill - Prove they don't exist. Prove that the case isn't that the search rate has just dropped a lot. You can't, so don't assume they are gone just because you read it in an article on a page on the wiki edited by someone who made those assumptions. I swear some people will propose anything, and some people will vote keep on anything.--Karekmaps?! 03:28, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
  6. I agree that the box should be removed, but we should just keep it there. We have no way in knowing if wirecutters will ever be reintroduced. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 19:05, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
  7. Kill/Change I'd rather see the tool box be able to repair fences--THE Godfather of Яesensitized, Anime Sucks Yalk | W! U! WMM| CC CPFOAS DORISFlag.jpg LOE ZHU | Яezzens 10:51, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

  2. Bug Reports. --Druuuuu OcTRR 00:13, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
  3. Bug - if they're truly gone, this is a bug, not a suggestion for an improvement to the actual gameplay -- boxy talki 10:30 16 February 2008 (BST)
  4. Spam - "Stupid, pointless, useless, I don't like it, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"--/~Rakuen~\Talk Domo.gif I Still Love Grim 00:38, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

  5. Spam - If they arent gone, this is stupid, if they are gone, this is a bug, and doesnt belong in the suggestions system. Pick your poison. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 01:34, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
  6. spam - only because no one has proven to me that wirecutters are gone. if they are, as has been mentioned, this is a bug. --WanYao 16:10, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
