20080222 Scavenging and Lurking

Logan227 18:26, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Suggestion type
Skill

Suggestion scope
High level survivors and zombies

Suggestion description
This suggestion is designed to make going out and killing Zeds a worthwhile use of AP rather then a waste during a siege. It consists of a new Human skill and a new zombie skill.

Scavenging(zombie hunter skill requireing level 10 Character)- for 5 AP Player may scavenge a dead body for goods, taking everything that was not being worn(everything except clothes and one flak jacket). If this puts Player above 100% encumbrance the excess is automatically discarded. Players above 80% encumberance may not scavenge bodies. If player also has the sent death skill then the player may toggle an option to ignore bodies that are revivifying.

Lurking(zombie skill requiring memories of life)- Player may lay down and feign being a corpse for 5AP. If a survivor attempts to scavenge a lurking zombie, the zombie automatically deals one successful claw and one successful bite attack(for no XP gain or AP cost) and is set to regular standing zombie mode. Exiting lurk mode manually costs 1AP

Keep Votes

  1. Author i wrote this. It is therefore a good idea. Logan227 18:31, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  2. Week Keep - Messing with other people's inventories is actually awesome (makes searching more necessary in later parts of the game). Problem: People will have "gathering alts" that they'll kill to get stuff from (this would need to be addressed). Still, I don't think people should only ever need to find one toolbox in the game, and this would address that, so yea despite the problems. --Pgunn 20:55, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  3. mega keep I think this is a good idea as corpes would be looted if this were real 21:59 February 2008 --User:woof woof1

Kill Votes

  1. Kill as the spam voters, except spam votes are for jerks--CorndogheroT-S-Z 19:30, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  2. Kill- Games cease to be fun when you could possibly lose everything that you have spent time on, also you should not try to implement two separate things at one time, and the lurking skill is completely worthless. -- BKM 05:03, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
  3. Kill - Its just not a good idea to mess with people's inventory. Alot of AP are spent gathering those items. It shouldnt be tampered with. But as Corndoghero said, spam votes are for jerks.--Dr Doom86 21:44, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  4. Kill - Cheeseman said it all in his spam vote, with links included. Rocky Ford 22:12, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  5. Kill - Sorry mate, I like the idea, I've actually thought of posting a suggestion here like this, but with limited items taken. But taking all items would be just a bit to horribly game wrecking. My regrets: --Alphonse Burr 23:02, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  6. Kill-As Corndog, including the bit about spam voters being jerks.-Studoku 23:51, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  7. Kiil- Don't mess with inventories. I'd hate to lose my ever-saved christmas lights. Also, no ninja zombies. Finally, no auto-attacks, and especially no guaranteed auto-attacks. -- Quizzical  Quiz  Speak  00:10, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Kill/Take to Discussion - It was good up until I reached the zombie skill, which I believe falls under auto attack, a serious no-no. You might want to take this to discussion. --Private Mark 23:56, 22 February 2008 (UTC) Vote Changed. --Private Mark 01:05, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
  8. Kill - LOL, I stole all of a Mrh Cow's Shotguns and killed it! --The Gecko PKer 04:20, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
  9. Kill - it dead, bury it, and don't ever talk about it again. As Cheeseman.  Billy Club Thorton  T!  RR  08:46, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
  10. Kill - I don't like it!--Jamie Cantwell3 22:12, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. ZOMGZ LOL AH STEALZ UR ITEMS!!! - 1. Do not mess around with other people's inventories. That is a number one no-no. 2. No Auto-attacks. Also a big nono. 3. No ninja zombies. A very bad idea. -- Cheese 18:44, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  2. WTFCENTAURS - Way overpowered, and as Krazy Monkey (Cheeseman). Give me promiscuous centaurs with lasers any day, but not this. --Anotherpongo 18:49, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  3. Spam - Incredibly overpowered. --Zombie in Pajamas 19:59, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  4. When I saw you put it up under current suggestions, I read the title, and sure enough, it happened to be the type of scavenging I was thinking of. KM is absolutely right on this one. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 20:22, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  5. Spamsamntastic! - Not going to happen, too overpowered, read the do's and don'ts before making any more suggestions, trust me, it'll save you time. Acoustic Pie 21:17, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  6. Oh my god, this is so awful. So, if I kill someone at a revive point, I can take all their guns? --Druuuuu OcTRR 21:52, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  7. Spaminate - As above. -- John RubinT! ZG FER 21:57, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  8. Spam - As above. --The Hierophant 21:59, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  9. Spam - Game breaking, --FXI 22:12, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  10. Spam - Did you consider what effect this would have on revives? You'd get griefers, PKers, and death cultists (and probably lazy XP hungry trenchies) visiting revive points just for the purpose of stripping the bodies of folks who have been hit with a syringe. Thus, people would actually avoid getting revived (simply by never standing up as a zombie) unless they were doing it via chat, so they knew who was reviving them and could stand up right afterwords. And that's exactly the situation the "Mark 1" syringe was replaced with the current "Mark 2"; to make metagaming less necessary for revives. SIM Core Map.png Swiers 22:00, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  11. Spam - This is a terrible idea. --PdeqTalk* 23:39, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  12. Spam - As Cheeseman. -doc crook 00:02, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
  13. CENTAURS ARE ATTACKING! - Changed my vote after I re-read the entire suggestion and realized just how over-abused and overpowered this suggestion is. You too would understand how not awesome this suggestion if your items were constantly being stolen. --Private Mark 01:05, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
  14. Spam - Auto attack, and don't mess with my inventory. --Themanwhocares4 01:17, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
  15. spam is a legitmate and even necessary, albeit often abused, vote... and this suggestion is an auto-attack that messes with people's inventory. bad idea. and spam-worthy. and ... "This suggestion is designed to make going out and killing Zeds a worthwhile use of AP rather then a waste during a siege" you're kidding, right? ... killing zombies in the street, especially during a siege, is st00pid. and shall be unto the end of time. --WanYao 05:16, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
  16. Spam on so many levels - But I do hope to someday see a skill that lets me steal the watch off a dead guy. For now, you shouldn't be able to take EVERYTHING off of a person's inventory, uh... no auto attacks (especially 100% effective ones), and no zombies playing dead. --Uncle Bill 05:30, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
  17. Spam Please do research first. The survivor part is nothing but a griefer tool. Best way to describe it is imagine your character dies. When you next long in, you HAVE NO INVENTORY because some assholes came and took it all. Zombie Hunters have little to do. Give them the power to fuck with others and they will. The idea is also incomplete. Do you get to look through their inventory or is it random? YOur basically saying, for 5 AP you have a 100% find rate. The zombie one is WAY overpowered. People have suggested "feign death"type skills all the time and the inherent problem is that zombies will use it to make themselves indesturctible (corpses can't be targeted).--Pesatyel 06:13, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
  18. Spam - hahaha. I like your style. Lookie, survivors! Lookie, lookie! I give you bar of chocolate! Woooh! (Pssst! Zambah brethren - whilst they're eating their chocolate, here is a fleet of B52 bombers loaded up with napalm - have fun!) --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 07:23, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
  19. Spam - as Cheeseman --Viktor Suvorov 10:12, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
  20. Spam - Lulz, CaN wE hAvE NoOkS tOo?!?! This would essentially make Shotgun Pirates and Zombie Ninjas a horrifying reality. It would make them the scariest thing in the game. And it takes a long time to grab enough shotgun shells.--Normal PhobicC 10:55, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
  21. spam - enough said already --~~~~ [talk] 22:22, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
