20080506 New Skill Tree: Keen Observer

Blake Firedancer 10:35, 6 May 2008 (BST)

Suggestion type
Skill tree.

Suggestion scope
Civilians.

Suggestion description
OK, here's what the skills would be:

Keen Observer - Has a higher rate of finding objects via. searching
Dead-Watcher - Can distinguish between fallen zombies and revived survivors
Sentry - Can monitor immediate zombie movements whilst inside a building. (can see zombies outside the building)
Eagle Vision - Can monitor nearby areas (can see zombies in all 9 places on map when inside)
Tracker - Can monitor player movements in immediate vicinity (if a person or zombie walks past you get told which direction they went)

EDIT: Added 1 more branch

Peeping Tom - Can identify a building with more than 5 survivors inside from the street
Pervert - Can identify a building with any amount of survivors inside from the street

OK, given the less-than-enthusiastic feedback, I thought I'd revise the ideas in order to make them no longer so 'uber'.

Sentry, Peeping Tom and Pervert should only work when the building is loosely barricaded or lower
Eagle-Vision should only work if the building is the sort where rooftop access is possible (NT structures, Towers, Hospitals and Police Stations). After all, if a building has windows or a rooftop view you should be able to look out, eh? The downside is that, being so high up, you can't see zombies outside the building you are currently at.
Keen Observer allows for the use of a 'thorough search', which doubles the chance of finding an object, but takes 3 AP instead of 1.

Kill Votes

  1. The new branch (just added) is just silly. You are over-loading survivors with skills! Your ideas are the kind of things that don't need skill to do anyway. they're just not an option in the game. Zig13 - 6/05/2008 at 11:13(BST)
  2. Apart from being overpowered why in the hell would I want to promote people being perverted on the internet? It's be like teaching a dog to eat bacon.--SeventythreeTalk 13:02, 6 May 2008 (BST)
  3. Kill because they're overpowered, and the peeping tom skills are more useful to zombies as well as overpowered.--CorndogheroT-S-Z 13:24, 6 May 2008 (BST)
  4. Kill - Not quite SPAM, but just not needed. Dead-Watcher - Can distinguish between fallen zombies and revived survivors - Why would a survivor need to do this? Err on the side of caution - dump all bodies. The others seem a bit useless. --The Malton Globetrotters #99 DCC SNACK STRONG 13:41, 6 May 2008 (BST)
  5. Kill kill kill kill Take a look here: Suggestions Dos and Do Nots, Frequently Suggested. Please. It really ruins whole game balance. --  13:47, 6 May 2008 (BST)
  6. Kill - Overpowered and stupid, really stupid. --Pvt human 14:08, 6 May 2008 (BST)
  7. Kill - Whilst the submitter was hopeful (albeit perverted), nobody else liked the suggestion in either its phrasing or its content. There are a few good ideas buried in here, but they're bundled with the rest. --Pgunn 17:31, 6 May 2008 (BST)
  8. Kill - Two kills in two days; so much for my dream of being the guy who only votes keep all the time, but sometimes I have to kill. Although I did like the keen observer one, anything that helps in finding more stuff is always good.--Jamie Cantwel3 Talk 19:00, 6 May 2008 (BST)
  9. Kill - Horribly overpowered and just unfixable. -- Cheese 19:20, 6 May 2008 (BST)
  10. kill - most of the good reasons were already taken, so my problem is the authors usage of black text, next time use green and you will get my vote--Scotw 19:39, 6 May 2008 (BST)
  11. Kill - All of the above. Anyone could have told you this if you'd talked it out. --Diano 19:45, 6 May 2008 (BST)
  12. Kill- You clearly don't want to see this suggestion pass, not only is it overpowered, but it is clearly x-ray vision, and no one would seriously vote keep. -- BKM 19:55, 6 May 2008 (BST)
  13. Kill- Hey Chuckles how about you Frequent Suggestions, Suggestion Dos and Donts, and post any suggestion your mind vomits up on the Suggestion Talk page before coming here? Needless to say your current ideas are shit.--  ZZ Argh.gifEmot-zombie.gif 21:55, 6 May 2008 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - No seeing through the barricades/doors. It's x-ray vision. You want to know what's outside, go out and take the chance of getting bitten. Binoculars are bad enough already -- boxy talki 12:00 6 May 2008 (BST)
  2. Spam - X-Rays and Hel effects? What is it? Suggest old and tired ways of breaking the game day? -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 19:00, 6 May 2008 (BST)

  6. Spam - This is a fucking joke, right? RIGHT??? --WanYao 20:36, 6 May 2008 (BST)
  7. Spam - Mostly overpowered (x-ray vision!). What isn't overpowered already exists. Get scent death if you want to be able to distinguish revived bodies from dead bodies. Get bargain hunting for an increased search rate, binoculars if you want to see outside. --Jasonjason 23:32, 6 May 2008 (BST)
