20081023 New Newspaper Article-Length of Pipe

Kolechovski 23:28, 23 October 2008 (BST)

Suggestion type

Improvement

Suggestion scope

Newspapers

Suggestion description
I suggest a new article available to the newspapers floating around the city. As most people know, newspapers contain flavor and advice for newbies. We all know that eventually, survivors learned how to block the doors with a pipe and create a loose barricade. Maybe this info came from a batch of newspapers that was eventually discovered. The article can read as follows.

It’s a quarantine information pamphlet. Citizens who are unable to build barricades can still add a layer of protection to their safehouse by jamming metal pipes between door handles.

Keep Votes

  1. Meh, maybe a bit of different wording to make it flow a bit better, but I believe the newspapers need to be expanded so they're worth reading for someone. Perhaps something along the lines of:"A quarantine pamplet, showing how to make a crude barricade using a pipe, that anyone could do."--G-Man 02:09, 24 October 2008 (BST)
  2. Keep I like this idea and also support the suggestion above me --Tjayh913 02:47, 24 October 2008 (BST)
  3. This is what newspapers are for and suggestions for things to put IN them is good. And Silisquish, equating this to Infection is NOT valid. Not knowing how to do this isn't going to get you killed like infection can. If your infected and can't get a cure, your screwed. If you have a pipe and can't do this, you can RUN.--Pesatyel 04:07, 24 October 2008 (BST)
  4. Keep - Info for new players is always good.--Jiangyingzi 07:50, 24 October 2008 (BST)
  5. Keep - As above. Whenever information can be presented ingame for new players, it's a GOOD thing. Newspapers have been "resistance pamphlets" for some time -- how is suggesting that pipes be used to barricade buildings any different than suggesting that new people NOT sleep in PDs, or that survivors dump bodies out of buildings as soon as possible? --Jen 08:02, 24 October 2008 (BST)
  6. keep adds a bit of variety to the newspapers and presents potentially useful info to players who do not use this wiki....aka: the majority--Honestmistake 11:37, 24 October 2008 (BST)
  7. Keep - wording needs improvement but this is a good idea to inform newbies. Also DRR newspaper already exist as resistance pamphets, some are 'crudely drawn propaganda rags' (or something) saying to surrender to the hordes and some tell you to find a safehouse to sleep in.--xoxo 11:40, 24 October 2008 (BST)
  8. Keep: I'm all for information being available in game. - User:Whitehouse 11:44, 24 October 2008 (BST)
  9. Keep - Thanks to Whitehouse, I now have no problem with this small change. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 12:50, 24 October 2008 (BST)
  10. Keep - Good for the new players. Legion8 02:56, 25 October 2008 (BST)
  11. Keep - Good, though not many people make use of the newspapers for information anyway. --Private Mark 04:41, 25 October 2008 (BST)
  12. Keep - Handy hints for the fearful unknowing. Also, newspapers are still everywhere in hospitals. Why did they need so many? So that patients could read the obituary of the guy who was next to them last night? --Visible One 04:34, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
  13. Keep - As everyone else. Very useful for non-metagaming (or even wiki-using) newbies. Linkthewindow Talk 09:35, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
  14. Author Keep - I forgot I had to vote on my own suggestion.--Kolechovski 18:29, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

  18. Weak Keep --Haliman - Talk 01:32, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
  19. Keep A useful article. Excellent. Newspapers suck, this makes them a teensy bit better. Good good.--Rachel Akebre 08:50, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill Newspapers disappear once read and most classes don't even start with them, so they're not good sources of information for newbies. Having this explained when you pick up the pipe would be better. (Just like instructions on getting rid of Infectious Bites is displayed when you get infected) --Silisquish 02:49, 24 October 2008 (BST)
  2. Kill Same as what i said on the Suggestion:Discussion page, and what Silisquish has restated here. - tylerisfat 23:51, 24 October 2008 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - As Silisquish, above. This is a spam not because it's overpowered or anything -- but because it's pointless. --WanYao 04:32, 24 October 2008 (BST)
