20090321 Multiple Infection Strains

Bob Boberton TF / DW 05:45, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Suggestion type
Infection change

Suggestion scope
Survivors and infectious zombies

Suggestion description
Zombies are walking petri dishes, full of nasty microbes that can kill you from the inside out. If you're not dead already, that is. Every zombie's got its own unique makeup of snot and grime, and mixing zombie guts makes for an even nastier concoction.

Infection currently deals 1 damage per AP usage, except for speaking. With this change, Infections would work exactly the same way with one difference - if you are already infected and are bitten by a second unique zombie who has Infectious Bite, you acquire a second infection strain and become heavily infected.

Heavily infected survivors take 1 damage per action (save speaking) and have a 30% chance to take an additional 1 damage, for a maximum of two damage per AP.

Heavily infected survivors may be cured through the use of a single FAK.

With zombie skills that allow you to see infected survivors, the color of their health is black to show heavy infections and the current sickly green for normal infections.

Minor clarification: This does not stack with more unique bites. Being heavily infected (2 unique infectious bites) is the maximum level of infection.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - Author vote. --Bob Boberton TF / DW 05:49, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
  2. I approve. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 06:13, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
  3. Keep - because it's cool and I can cancel out mo's vote. -- Grogh 06:30, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
  4. Keep - I like it. --Papa Moloch 07:16, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
  5. Weak Keep - I'm ambient about this. Infection's pretty powerful among newbie harmans (ones that don't carry a FAK,) but weak against older ones (ones that carry a FAK,) and it could do with a small buff - and this may just be it. Linkthewindow  Talk  07:56, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
  6. Keep - Me likey. -- Cheese 10:39, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
  7. Keep - Well thought out, gives infection an extra "bite", makes FAKs even more important. Sign me up. --Paddy DignamIS DEAD 20:23, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
  8. I think there are enough limitations to not make this overpowered.--Pesatyel 20:26, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
  9. Keep Rather surprisingly. Rewards coordinated zeds, not overpowered. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 21:34, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
  10. Keep Good idea. Makes infection dangerous, not just annoying. But, who doesn't carry FAKs? Not overpowered. --ManofBlueSteel 23:22, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
  11. Keep It seems only logical that, after three years of stewing, different mutations of the undead virus would appear -CaptainVideo 00:47, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
  12. Keep - Not a bad idea, I like. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 00:55, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
  13. Keep Horrible to get, but good overall.--Ryvyoli Y R 08:47, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
  14. Keep - Adds a little variety and danger to infection. --Midianian¦T¦DS¦SP¦ 08:51, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
  15. Keep - Good changes based on suggestions made during discussion. A boost but still balanced. ~ extropymine Talk | NW | 4Corners 09:01, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
  16. Keep - I'd be more comfortable with a 20%-25% chance for the extra point of damage from heavy infection, but I like the idea. --Maverick Talk - OBR Praise Knowledge! 404 20:14, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
  17. Keep - Keep now that there is a 30% chance of 2 damage rather than 100%. Good work. --Haliman - Talk 20:36, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
  18. Keep - Neat, not too overpowered. --Johnny Bass 20:56, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
  19. Keep - I would like a 25%, but It's an awesome idea! --OrangeGaf Talk! 22:29, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
  20. Keep - I like this idea. Perhaps it could also lead to a new science skill (We need more of those) detect infection severity. --Turtleboy412 Talk! In game 02:52, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
  21. Keep - Sounds good to me. Might encourage my dual nature to bite a bite more to help the zombie cause. Legion8 09:53, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
  22. Keep - I tried to hate it, but the suggestion sounds too fun! DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 11:29, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
  23. Keep - This is a good one - it rewards coordinated play, adds variety and doesn't devastate the opposition. Very nice! --Giles Sednik CAPDSWA 22:17, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
  24. Keep - It does not seem overpowerd and it is still usefull. --Michalesonbadge.pngTCAPD(╯°□°)╯ ┻━┻ 21:50, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
  25. Weak Keep - This would force Survivors to think more tactically and protect Hospitals more. However, its' giving zombies a bit too much power for my liking. If someone got doubly infected while they were offline, they could only move about 30 times. ChainReaction01 00:56, 31 March 2009 (BST)
  26. Keep - Keep I Like The Idea, It Makes Sense But I Believe That If Someone Cures A Heavy Infection They Should Receive An XP Bonus, It Could Be 1-3 Experience, I say 2. Great Suggestion! --ImNotXacerbate 12:45, 02 April 2009 (UTC)
  27. Keep - Keep adds a a little bit extra to the game --Dans34Talk Umbrella Corporation 18:22, 2 April 2009 (BST)
  28. Keep - Makes groups of zombies far more dangerous, as it should be in any zombie game. --Lord Evans 03:26, 3 April 2009 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. No More Zombie Stuff! More PKer Buffs!--THE Godfather of Яesensitized, Anime Sucks Yalk | W! U! WMM| CC CPFOAS DORISFlag.jpg LOE ZHU | Яezzens 06:16, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
  2. Nope its annoying --mo ヽ(´ー`)ノ MCM MOB DB 06:17, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
  3. Seems like it would unbalance the game for low level players. --OneThirtyEight 08:55, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
  4. Kill I feel it unbalances the game as being infected is already bad enough, I've never woke up and found myself infected with 46 health but almost always single digits. Rogueboy 20:14, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
  5. Weak Kill - The zambah in me likes this suggestion. The survivor, however, feels that infection is strong enough as is. --Private Mark 22:48, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
  6. Kill - No. I think infection is annoying enough. There's no need to make it worse. --Lois talk 10MFH 17:35, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
  7. Kill - Reminds me of this suggestion, which I like better. --ZsL 15:27, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
  8. Kill - It's an interesting concept, and I'm not terribly opposed to it, but I feel that it would make the game a bit unbalanced, considering that infections are already irritating enough without the added risk of losing 2 HP. I think I'd like it just a bit better if it had a 20-25% chance, rather than 30%. --Fujiko Mine 03:01, 30 March 2009 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Dupe - No more bite boosts, there are already about four enhancements to a bite as http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Frequently_Suggested points out. Anyway, it's unbalanced. Nemesis645 15:48, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
