20090817 DNA Extractor Tagging Improvement

Mooman72v2 04:02, 17 August 2009 (BST)

Suggestion type
Skill/Item Change

Suggestion scope
Necrotech Employees and anyone who can operate a DNA Extractor

Suggestion description
So here's the idea:

When a zombie is tagged with a DNA Extractor, the technician (The person tagging the zombie) has the option to write something about the zombie for other people who DNA scan can read, for an extra 1 AP.

This could be a warning not to revive a known PKer, a cautionary message, or something to the like. Like Graffiti. After the zombie is DNA scanned, a text box would come up under the other zombie information to tag the zombie. Something like:

Name: Stuffy Popos Pre-death Class: Military Dead Since: unknown

Filed as #8675309/J Your work is appreciated.

Your extractor's screen reads: DO NOT REVIVE. KNOWN PKER.

[Text Box] Tag (1AP)

^NOTE THIS^

Each new tag would overwrite the previous tag, again, like Graffiti.

The tags would be kept even after the 24-hour extraction limit, but after revivification is debatable.

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - How big is the textbox? Does the tag last forever or just until the next DNA scan? What is the technical explanation for how the zombies are being tagged? Wouldn't this just be abused as a way of stamping a parting "fuck you zed" to zombies right before killing them? Try developing Suggestions so these kinds of issues can be resolved before putting it up for a vote. Too many questions to vote keep.--GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 05:59, 17 August 2009 (BST)
  2. Kill - As above. -Codebreak 06:42, 17 August 2009 (BST)
  3. Kill - So abuseable and with no redeeming value. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 08:33, 17 August 2009 (BST)
  4. Kill - My problem is the merging of game and meta-game. As you demonstrated, pk'ers could be tagged so they aren't revived. This really kills realism -- particularly as we are talking about 'player' killers. Also details about longevity are absent - Zig13 - 17/08/2009 at 11:04(BST)
  5. Kill - --Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 11:52, 17 August 2009 (BST)
  6. Kill - This would be a nice way to spread misinformation amongst the survivors, but I have to say no to the opportunity for everyone with a chip on their shoulder to write insults and/or false information (PK/GK/zerg/textrapist) about people/groups they, for whatever reason, don't like.--Maps 13:18, 17 August 2009 (BST)
  7. Kill - I wish I could vote yes, but people would abuse it. - User:Armpit_Odor/sig 18:33, 17 August 2009 (BST)
  8. Kill - Highly abusable. Nobody here wants to be falsely tagged as PKers, and I know many people who'd just use this to grief us to the point of my group dying out. Nemesis645 09:24, 18 August 2009 (BST)
  9. Kill- The only use I can see for this is tagging "Member of Red Rum" onto enemies so they don't get revived! Abusable and not particularly realistic.--The General T Sys U! P! F! 22:01, 20 August 2009 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - No to survivors getting to write childish insults on zombie profiles, especially seeing that the zombie has no way to do anything about it -- boxy talkteh rulz 11:25 17 August 2009 (BST)
  2. Spam - Would be used only for abuse or fucking with people's enjoyment of the game. --Papa Moloch 21:09, 17 August 2009 (BST)
  3. Spam/Incomplete "but after revivification is debatable." It either is or it isn't. If unclear on an area you should take it to DS --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 21:23, 17 August 2009 (BST)
  4. Spam, spamitty spam! Sorry - it's unworkable in it's current form and I don't see how to make it workable given the complaints listed by other contributors. Therefore, spam. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 21:49, 17 August 2009 (BST)

  7. Spam - PKers are players too. Though you may not agree with their line of work, their playing style is very much accepted in the UD community. Applying this would be unfair.--Degree7 04:36, 18 August 2009 (BST)
  8. Spam - Too easily used for griefing. --Papa Johnny 20:45, 18 August 2009 (BST)
  9. spam - when i suggested sticky notes, i was joking! as the others above, this is just a griefing tool. --WanYao 09:20, 19 August 2009 (BST)
  10. Spam - Griefing is bad. -- Cheese 20:27, 23 August 2009 (BST)
