20100629 Zombie Class Change

•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 22:43, 29 June 2010 (BST)

Suggestion type
Zombie Class Change

Suggestion scope
Players Starting as Zombies

Suggestion description
When you start as a zombie, and get revived, your character class is always going to be Civilian. I'd like to propose a change to this system. When a player starts as a Corpse, they are given the option to choose their survivor class (Civilian, Military, Science). I also propose that on the spawning screen, where they show the welcome message and the tips, that each one of that welcome messages is a little different depending on which Survivor class the player chooses.

Choosing Civilian will retain the original welcome message.

Choosing Military will result in this message:

  • "As a soldier stationed at one of the two Forts when the quarantine laws came into effect, the army has decided to send your unit to <SUBURB>. However, the zombie threat overwhelmed your unit and you were killed in the process. Now, your eyes flick open, and you rise unsteadily to your feet."

Choosing Science will result in this message:

  • "You were a Forensic Scientist investigating the death of civilians in <SUBURB>. During one of your on scene investigation of a dead body, the dead body came to life and bit a chunk of your shoulder off. You didn't survive. Now, your eyes flick open, and you rise unsteadily to your feet."

NOTE: This suggestion is in no way a dupe to "Military, and Scientist Zombies?" This suggestion does not introduce any new types of characters. This suggestion allows players starting as a Corpse to choose their survivor class, which means every starting zombie will still be a Corpse with Vigour Mortis. This suggestion also has flavour text (a la the spawning welcome message). Also, Voters, if they want, can suggest changes to the Welcome Messages in their vote or on this suggestion's talk page.

  2. CHANGE - "one of the forts" is too unspecific. It needs to be confirmed which one.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 22:48, 29 June 2010 (BST)
  3. Keep After med school you saw an advert in your local newspaper for qualified medical personnel to work at necrotech. Next thing you know you're strapped to a table and a needles sticking in your neck. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 22:51, 29 June 2010 (BST)

  5. Keep - I approve of this. Lelouch vi Britannia is helping make Ridleybank green_ and gives Achievements 01:52, 30 June 2010 (BST)
  6. Keep/Change - Rather than specifying the fort, as Yonnua suggests, I'd say just drop the mention of the fort and say that they're merely stationed in Malton and were deployed to <SUBURB>, end of story. Aichon 05:34, 30 June 2010 (BST)

  8. keep A few tweaks to the flavour text would be nice but not essential. Aichon nails it for the army but the scientist one does need work--Honestmistake 09:42, 30 June 2010 (BST)

  11. Keep would do a lot to aid death culting and trans-mortal play. When I fall, I'll weep for happiness 19:29, 30 June 2010 (BST)
  12. Keep I like it. --Akule Maker of fine, hand-crafted UDWiki sass since 2006 -- Akule School's back in session™ 23:42, 30 June 2010 (BST)
  13. Keep Would add to the game. (looking at Military, and Scientist Zombies?, the only one that would make sense is Memories of Life. And starting without vigour mortis would make an interesting challenge.) If this went through, I'd totally make a new alt to play it. No-genius 12:44, 1 July 2010 (BST)
  14. Keep - Flavor is good. --AORDMOPRI ! T 19:18, 4 July 2010 (BST)
  15. Keep What Mis said. (Though I'd still prefer to start with a living Scientist and then window-jump with him to camouflage the death-cultist even further by a death date that's different from "In the early outbreaks"...) -- Spiderzed 19:33, 4 July 2010 (BST)
  16. Keep I don't see why not. The kill reasons suggested below are rather vauge anyway. --Alex1guy 03:55, 5 July 2010 (BST)
  17. Keep Smaksättning Flavor is good. Gives more feeling to the characters. Although, I do agree with the fort thing. Technical Pacifist 16:15, 8 July 2010 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - Only civilians died in the early outbreaks. Soldiers and scientists weren't around back then, they only began arriving after the quarantine was set up. --VVV RPGMBCWS 08:09, 30 June 2010 (BST)
    Really? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 08:38, 30 June 2010 (BST) - non author reply -- 08:45, 30 June 2010 (BST)
  2. Kill - Leave it to the RPers. -- 08:42, 30 June 2010 (BST)
  3. No. Why? Because none of them died in the initial outbreaks: Science personnel because they were forewarned (NecroTech) or had easy access to medical supplies, and the Military because the Forts were fortified Armouries (which have since been renovated) and thus were easily defended until much later on. ᚱᛖᚢᛖᚾᚨᚾ 05:57, 8 July 2010 (BST)
