Suggestion talk:20070704 Barricade Alerts

Just to make a note: I'm abstaining from voting. One of my characters is a zombie spy, so this activity could really nerf something really useful - debarricading!

However, the current system seemed like a potential logical inconsistency ('cades moved from EHB down to loosely and no-one notices. 'cades moved from loosely to none - all present get a link to your profile!). I'm just posting this suggestion to see what people's point of view is on this suggestion. I'm sure some people will come up with good reasons for why it would unbalance gameplay and reduce the overall challenge/fun. Although most will probably just vote in favour of what is best for them (Zombie=Kill, Survivors-Keep, Trenchie=Strong Keep, PKer=Kill?). 'arm. 09:35, 4 July 2007 (BST)

Well I play all rolls (except trenchy, as yet)... I just vote for what I think is best for the game. Not knowing who is "messing with your cades" is one of the few downsides to barricades. And barricades are strong enough as they are -- boxy T Nuts2U DA 10:12, 4 July 2007 (BST)
Haha, rolls? (Bread-tastic!) Try roles! :P I didn't put you down as someone who'd vote 'selfishly'. You've a point that it's one of the few downsides, not knowing who is messing with the 'cades.
I suspect that for gameplay/balance reasons this shouldn't be introduced. But at least it'll be in Peer Rejected when it's done. 'arm. 10:24, 4 July 2007 (BST)

Looks like its popular and going to get a peer accepted to me:) As a zombie I don't mind this as a survivor i think its a must and my cultist wants the risk as its currently too easy. Perhaps if it only notified on the major changes (heavy-strong-light-gone) it might be better but I personally like it and given that cades are survivors main way to survive they need to be good! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Honestmistake (talkcontribs) at an unknown time.

Explain

Looks like the only grief with this one is accidental overcading. I reccomend you append you suggestion with something like "NOTE: THE REASON YOU CAN TALK TO PEOPLE IN GAME IS SO YOU CAN TELL THEM IF IT'S AN ACCIDENTAL OVERCADING." Nalikill 17:02, 7 July 2007 (BST)

Like shouting at people is going to get them to vote for your suggestion :P
Besides, the suggestion is a pretty significant survivor buff. Barricades are strong enough as they are now, this is removing one of the few weaknesses in them. Uncertainty about who is friend or foe is a major part of the flavour of the UD that I know --boxy T Nuts2U DA 17:16, 7 July 2007 (BST)

Invalid spam?

  1. Spam -- This suggestion would be nerfed by this one which looks like it's going to carry (14/7/3). --Firemanrik 19:24, 4 July 2007 (BST)
Either you like this suggestion or you don't. You shouldn't spam this (ie. vote to get this removed before its two weeks is up) because you prefer another suggestion which isn't even in Peer Reviewed. And even if it was, it's not a dupe, so again not a reason to vote to have this removed before its two weeks are up. Oh, and spams are counted as kills, so 14/7/3 = 14 keep to 10 kill = undecided. This is the worst Spam Vote I've ever seen. Infact, I move to get it struck. Not because I support this suggestion (I'm abstaining), but because I support logic. 'arm. 19:52, 4 July 2007 (BST)
This suggestion is unnecessary at this point because there is another one currently being voted on that would do the same thing and then some if it carries. Unnecessary suggestions == spam. Q.E.D. --Firemanrik 22:05, 4 July 2007 (BST)
Actually, the suggestion you link to only reports barricade damage (albeit, all of it), whereas this one notifies building inhabitants when the barricades are built also (although only when going from VS+2:Heavy). As an aside, I doubt it's going to get the the 6 additional keeps it needs. However that's irrelevant, as even if it was in Peer Reviewed this suggestion adds something new, and would not be a dupe. Oh, but here's a near dupe for your linked suggestion. 'arm. 22:23, 4 July 2007 (BST)
Really, there should be some rule that certain votes (with specifics) can be struck by anyone.--AlexanderRM 00:05, 5 July 2007 (BST)
Looks invalid to me. quote from the Spam rules is: "Spam votes are not a "strong kill", they are simply here to prevent the utterly ridiculous from clogging up the system. If you do not like the idea, and it's not some crazy uber power or something else ridiculous, VOTE KILL, NOT SPAM. Spam votes will be counted as Kill when votes are tallied." --Honestmistake 10:51, 6 July 2007 (BST)

FYI

Kill - It's a good idea, but overcading by accident is very easy. Yes, what if someone doesn't know that the cades are at VSB+2 and not VSB+1 and accidently over barricade it.--Leon Vulcan 01:50, 7 July 2007 (BST)
Just thought I'd point out that when you barricade and it is already at VSB +2 the game provides a warning text explaining the effects of HB barricades and asks for you to verify that you wish them to be HB and not VSB +2.--karek 02:21, 7 July 2007 (BST)
And if 2 people are barricading at once, one of them misses that warning, and the cades go straight to heavy -- boxy T Nuts2U DA 17:08, 7 July 2007 (BST)
