Suggestion talk:20070718 Solar Panels - Edited

Once again this goes to the talk page.... well, I've seen some spam votes that aren't even justified, a guy who's never heard of a staircase, another one who says that there are 5 street lamps in a city, and found out that woodstock is dead hippy. Any SERIOUS comments?-- EchelonThree 15:36, 20 July 2007 (BST)

You're suggestion should be kept out because you obviously haven't taken the time to consider why it might be a horrible idea and it is a large buff to generators which means it saves survivor AP, a lot of survivor AP because it means longer periods of higher search rates for less searching and a loss of zombie AP because now they have to destroy multiple objects instead of just one. It's an all around bad idea.--Karekmaps?! 16:09, 20 July 2007 (BST)
Multiple objects you say? All you have to do is to blow the generator, and the solar panels stop working too, with 10xp per panel destroyed, the zombies will love to ransack these, they're sitting ducks. AP is not an issue, with a search rate of 1%, it's still relatively low when compared to most items. I also don't see how it's a loss of zombie AP, getting 10xp for a single successful hit is a LOT better than getting a trickle for standard attacks. It's not a large buff to generators, as seeing solar panels is essentially a big "SIEGE ME" sign. So with no loss to zombie AP, no large buff to generators, and a relatively low search rate against an unfounded spam vote, your argument simply cannot stand. -- EchelonThree 16:46, 21 July 2007 (BST)
First of rare != balanced. In this case that is more true because they are a permanent item only removed by zombies wasting addition AP by attacking them. Even if they give 10xp it's not worth it because that is AP that could have been spent eating humans and a simple 10xp for destruction won't make the building anymore of a target. You leave out some important points such as how weak or strong they are(how many hits that can take). And you completely ignore how effective they would be if survivors were in a safe building for a long time, if zombies aren't getting in and breaking them most every day they are just a search buff, and a big one at that because it means less searching for fuel and longer periods of higher search rates. btw, generators are a big Siege me sign, solar panels mean nothing because you can't see them from other blocks, they are effectively just another layer of barricades but have nothing to do with stopping zombies entering.--Karekmaps?! 23:05, 21 July 2007 (BST)
I was addressing your point to the survivor AP about searching, you're taking it out of context. It was stated that they would be taken out in a single hit in the previous discussion and the development site. And yes it was also said that they would be visible for a distance. Now tell me, would you go for a building with a generator, or a building with a gen AND panels? once you have the answer, you'll know how easy it would be easy to attract zombies. And, would you rather kill a survivor for 3xp per hit or so. or would you rather smash a panel with a single hit for thrice that exp? -- EchelonThree 13:19, 22 July 2007 (BST)
